You are the absolute best at what you do!! No doubt I speak for many when I say that you continually get me out of hot water during a knitting panic. You make me a better knitter. Thank you!! ❤
I can’t tell you how much I appreciate these slo-mo vids. Since I discovered knitting on UA-cam, I have learned so much, but oftentimes it has required starting and stopping vids every two seconds,🤪. With your slo-mo, I can actually watch straight thru, and practice knit at the same time. You have found a wonderful niche- thank you!
Slow motion is very much appreciated😉 I often get completely lost trying to follow along with tutorials because everyone knits SO FAST and I'm still SO SLOW lol. I appreciate the step by step explanation also. Thank you so much for being awesome!
Thank you so much for yet another video tutorial that is displayed in a manner that my brain can understand! I'd be lost in the knitting world without you! Katt😊
Although I do know how to do the knit and purl stitches it helps a lot to have these refreshers to help a person with disabilities out . So Thank you again. I really do love your videos.
These are so nice with the voice-over. I normally watch your videos a few times, then slow down the video speed when something is really tricky. Thanks again for teaching me to knit :D
Thank you for your clear explanation using DPNs and the working yarn in your right hand, instead of continental knitting, which always seems backward to me. I knit very fine, fitted socks cuff-down using size 0 DPNs and sock-weight or even lace-weight yarn. I have always used a traditional form of heel turn that requires picking up stitches to form a gusset between the heel and the top of the foot. It looks good and fits very well, but I want to try the GSR technique because the heel turn would be even more invisible and neat. I have done magic-loop but prefer DPNS because I feel like I get a finer product and have more control than on circular needles, especially if there's a mistake. I only have to worry about the stitches on one needle at a time instead of frogging out a whole round back to the error, and I like the ease of counting stitches on each needle and knowing exactly where I am on a round without having to use markers.
Thank you for going over this slowly. I even slowed my playback speed so I could catch everything. I am also thinking about changing my knitting technique. Right now I knit by throwing the yarn with my whole hand, rather than just my fingers. It doesn't seem to be very efficient.
Could you do a video on the pros n cons of the different methods of applying a sweater band - knitting as part of the sweater like we did in the older days, picking up stitches afterwards, knitting a separate button band and steeking.
I absolutely love your slow-mo tutorials. As someone who is both a visual learner and sight impaired, they are literally the only ones I can see, watch, and knit along with to learn. And I've only done a couple of pairs of socks and didn't quite get them right or understand the patterns properly. Thank you so much.
Awesome video on what has always seemed like an elusive technique! Do you have a video anywhere about how and where to place short rows into a top down raglan pattern that doesn't already have them written in? Thanks for all you do to make knitting more accessible for all of us!
I'm always disappointed when you point to a corner of the screen, indicating a link to some related topic. Nothing ever appears there for me. I'm working on a Mac with the Safari browser. But you're still my Go-to-Gal when it comes to broadening my knitting technique repertoire.
UA-cam has changed some things up, I think you would see the "little i" on your phone, but not your Mac. But no worries - all the links I reference are also in the video description field, just below the video.
Thank you for this video. I have a pattern I'm working on that is a top from the top down. I had no clue what a DS was or a German shirt row. This helped tremendously. Could you fo a video on how to read charts.?
Whenever you're working short rows, you're essentially knitting flat, even if you're whole piece is knit in a tube. So the technique is the same (working the right side, then wrong side) regardless of whether you're knitting in a tube or not.
I’m learning German short rows but I’m working a pattern that works GSRs at the same time as raglan increases. Have you done a video tutorial showing this? If not, any recommendations? Thanks
So, the slow motion German Short Rows are stitched on first two and last two stitches? If that’s the case, YES, it is way too easy! How does one know to stop the heel? Or maybe I should see one of your sock vids. In any event, thanks so much...this is way way cool! Thank you!
Not exactly...in this video I demonstrate the technique, but you really need to follow a pattern that tells you when the short row turns need to happen.
WELL DONE. MAY I ALSO SUGGEST LARGER TEXT FOR THE SUBTITLES WHICH ARE FORTUNATLEY ON A BLACK BACKGROUND AND NEAR THE BOTTOM OF THE SCREEN. MANY KNITTERS ARE IN MY AGE GROUP AND REQUIRE LRGER MORE USER FRIENDLY TEXT. WITH MANY THANKS. I CAN CONTINUE KNITTING INDEFINITELY.
If you have a question about one of my patterns, you can always email me at staci@verypink.com. If you have a question about another designer's pattern, please contact that designer directly for help. If you have a general knitting question, please submit it to the podcast at podcast@verypink.com. Thanks!
I still can't make it work..its fine on the purl side but when I get to the knit side, I bring the yarn forward, slip purlwise, and pull the yarn up, but it doesn't make a double stitch. I've been trying to knit a pair of socks for six months and I cannot find a heel that works for me. So i made one up myself. I can't find the technique anywhere else. It's not perfect but its decent looking. But i want to learn German short rows..they look so easy and when I watch videos on it I SEE why it works. I completely understand. But when I do it, it just doesnt work.
Short rows are "short"...so even if your knitting is In-the-round, short rows are always rows. Regarding different styles...traditional wraps and turns are sort of standard, but most people I hear from prefer GSRs to w&t, because they don't enjoy picking up the wraps.
Yes, it is there. If you are on a computer, just put your cursor anywhere over the video player box, you will see it. If you are on a mobile device, just tap anywhere on the video player screen and you will see it. Additionally, all of the links I provide in the "little i" are also available in the video description field, just below the video.

Love this idea!! Do you think you could do a slow motion steeking video? Thank you!
Very helpful 😊
Very helpful! Maybe a slow motion helix knitting bind off video next?
can you please show how to do this in the round? or if you have already, and i can't find it, how can i search?
Can you do DPN slow motion on Heel Turn, Heel Flap, Gusset?
Very helpful thank you 🙏😘
Thank you...

hi! any chance you could so a video on short rows in the round? i know it should be simple, but i'm struggling.

@@verypinkknits thank you! that makes so much sense. you/your videos are lifesavers!
Hi, can I link to your vidio in my knitting pattern?
Yes, that's fine, thanks for asking!
Yes, Helix knitting

Carolann - you can adjust the size of the subtitles yourself, I can't actually adjust them. :)
Amazing!!
Dear Stacey
Where can I post my question on short rows to you please.
Thanks

I have the same problem and it is driving me nuts.
I’ve never done German short rows. Is it possible to do this technique whilst using double strands of yarn?
Yes - possible, but if you're new to the technique, the double strand will make the GSR stitches more visually confusing.
How about different short row options for in the round, pros and cons for methods?
Troubleshooting?
Short rows are "short"...so even if your knitting is In-the-round, short rows are always rows. Regarding different styles...traditional wraps and turns are sort of standard, but most people I hear from prefer GSRs to w&t, because they don't enjoy picking up the wraps.
