I always hated that, I love Monica but I can't see that episode without getting mad, she's having a special dinner with her boyfriend and she just calls her ex knowing how much uncomfortable Chandler would be, and then while talking she seems like she doesn't care if Chandler feels excluded with all those pretentious conversations and memories that Chandler doesn't share with them.
There's a theory that Richard only told Monica he was still in love with her because he felt the engagement ring in chandler's pocket when he hugged him and realised he was gonna propose so decided to tell her how he felt

Btw what a stupid way to get rid of her, like she wasnt that childish tho she was actually really smart and enjoyed the same things as he does, she was rly smart and no childish at all, was just weird all out the suddenly she be that childish, also WTH wasnt Ross the one who was impersonating shark attacks and robots in his Apartment...i mean was season 5 so his head wasnt in his body but still he is rly childish sonetimes, anyway THIS EP IS WILD, Joey buying... Joey Phoebe and Rachel as a trio, Phoebe drunk, Joey buying a whole boat XD Ross freaking out, and RICHARD NOOO, outta nowhere he appears.. this will lead to one of the best finales ever! Im excited for the finale, is amazing!!!! Btw now in S7 Chandler's head doesn't look bloated anymore lol

Richard is played by Tom Selleck, one of the biggest American TV stars, and sex symbols, of the 1980s on a show called Magnum P.I. He currently stars on the extremely popular show Blue Bloods. He was originally cast as Indiana Jones but turned it down bc he had just landed Magnum P.I., so Harrison Ford was given the part
Fun fact: There was an entire arc planned for Ross and Elizabeth for the next season, where she would reveal to Ross that she was pregnant, and Ross would spend the entire next season getting ready to be a father to her child, only for it to be revealed at the end of the next season that Ross wasn't the father. I'm not exactly sure why they scrapped the idea but I can think of a certain scenario that they might have originally had in mind that I can see why they may have decided it would be in poor taste.

I personally always thought Richard and Monica had the strongest relationship. She always treated Chandler like she was the boss of him, which was uncomfortable to watch. Plus, I think the only reason Richard was written out of the show was due to Tom Selleck's movie career.
