    Hi. I'll add another Thank You for your videos! I like the way you clearly explain things. Using your videos for guidance I've cleaned out the throttle body, EGR valve and inlet pipe on my 2015MY V70 D5 Auto with 50k miles. The performance has improved and selecting drive/reverse at idle is now much smoother too. I'm impressed with the results and I'm now wondering if there's any further improvement to be had by cleaning the intake manifold too? The car is running fine but could I make it even better by cleaning the manifold or is the biggest improvement normally with the throttle/EGR? Best wishes, Mike

    Have you done swirl flaps on an XC90 ? What's your opinion on what they do and don't affect .... Seen one with leak at swirl seal .... Swirl disconnected suspect motor isn't working but one of the injectors has carbon round it ..... Seen many now saying unless you get lights or limp mode then just leave it ... Others of course say get the swirls replaced on balance what do you think ? Is it just a messy swirl flap area and a wee bit of oil loss or there is wider implications?

    • @sirobb
      @sirobb  3 роки тому +1

      No never needed to do swirl flaps.
      Volvo do a cheap repair kit for the actuator to keep the arm in place.
      If the arm is disconnected, you can manually move the swirl linkage to see if it's free moving.
      You can also test the swirl actuator motor with Dice and Vida to view full movement.
      Clean the area of any oil leakage thoroughly then monitor oil levels to see if the loss is significant.

      @@sirobb thanks m8. yeah it's more the presence of oil and no active swirl .... Other than a dirty engine bay are there any further issues e.g with egr and dpf ? Personally I thought it has little affect connected or not and seen many posters just deleting them altogether.

      Hi, I'm not sure that any car problem requires a separate private conversation so feel free to ask your question in the comments.
      Someone else may have had a similar problem.

    Hi. Thank you for all your amazing Volvo videos. Did you already have problems with the swirl flaps on your D5? I would love to see a replacement video or alternatively a full intake cleaning video. I do not have problems with it yet, but I am planning to clean my intake system. Thank you and keep up the great work! Kind regards

      The swirl flaps on car in this video are working fine so there won't be a video about that unfortunately.

    Hi Simon, you have probably been asked this dozens of times but do replacement throttle bodies have to be coded/programmed by the dealership? I can't seem to get a straight answer on this.
    I have a 2003 V70 T5 and the original throttle is done. I've purchased a brand new Bosch unit which i have checked is the correct part and is identical to the old original one (which is branded Volvo) The Bosch one i have purchased is a 'virgin' unit so will my T5's ECM recognise it ? Is having to have it coded just a myth? My friend has VIDA and says there is no coding mentioned in the fitting procedure? What do you think? Do people tend to get the terms ETM and Throttle body confused, are they not two parts of the same unit? Thanks

    • @sirobb
      @sirobb  3 роки тому

      If Vida doesn't state the software upgrade procedure along with the software part number, it isn't required.
      It may need a calibration/adaption though which is in the Advanced tab of Vehicle Communication.

      @@sirobbI did speak to my local dealer ship and they said it would need fully calibrating however i fitted the throttle body myself over weekend and it car runs great, its seems it was just plug and play after all. MPG hasn't been affected either.

      @@sirobb no worries , I enjoy watching your videos.
      I have a crappy Volvo XC70 which runs lumpy , faults 2670 2680 2690 26B0 , Injector power stage fault.

    • @sirobb
      @sirobb  2 роки тому

      No idea. A good quality fuel filter replacement has solved many a running issue though.
      When you have fault codes, a Read with Dice and Vida is the best way forward. Guessing becomes expensive fast.
