Thanks for such an informative and inspiring video. I might be 11 months late but I think i have learned a lot for the future. I have subscribed because I think I can learn a lot more from you. Im based on the western side of the Mahikeng town on the Bray road.
Hi Conrad. Maize and lucern (alfalfa) with a commercial supplement. The proteine, energy etc differs for each stage of the animal's development, as prescribed by animal feed specialists and research by the lady that mixes the pellets for us. My Kalaharis live at Leeuwdoorns boer goats stud facebook.com/LEEUWDOORNS/
Hi watched your video of weaning, you said that after weaning you deform the mothers, feed them then introduce to the buck in September. Can you please help how you manage the pregnant mothers and schedule how you introduce the rams back to the flock please.
Hi. If you look at the other videos you will see we basically just waited till September because we have a lot of rain and parasites over Christmas so we don't want them lambing then. They are with the ram now for 17 days, then the ram sleeps over night with all the moms with lambs so that when they do get in heat after around 6 weeks, they again mate as soon as possible. The pregnant ewes get their supplementary feed at night after spending the day in the veld grazing and browsing
