Even though it's just a drone, what makes it so sad is all the hard work, dedication and memories compacted in one tiny two blade helicopter, served it's mission in excess. RIP Ingenuity.
@@mattsheezy5469 Ingenuity was only expected to have 5 flights over 30 days. The mini helicopter actually had 72 flights and lasted almost three years! It endured dust storms, frigid temperatures and long periods of darkness. It only weighed a little over 4 pounds and is considered more than successful.
So we will not hear "Meanwhile... Ingenuity..." in the videos anymore 🥺. Heartbreaking for anyone following this beautiful journey. Though it now cannot soar up to the sky, Ingenuity leaves behind a legacy that echoes across the annals of human achievement.
Yes you got me to x Happy new year Injunity. I see your panda my late father built the Panda House in Edinburgh Zoo Scotland. Even though I despise Zoos it was neccasrry. Happy new year 🐼
Considering the fact that even one flight wasn't guaranteed, I would say "no" to tears of mourning and "yes" to a celebration of life and accomplishments to both the engineers and the little copter.😊
What the hell are you talking about . That damn drone didn't do anything of is own accord . It was crashed by whoever was giving it commands and because of who ever did its stupidity we lost a very important piece of equipment we cannot easily replace . Why the hell would you have tears of mourning over the loss of a piece of machinery or celebrate its nonexistent life . Your entire statement reeks of ignorance and your inability to separate the loss of a tool to the loss of a human life . How stupid is that .
The fact that it can send back this type of high-quality images all the way from Mars is just mind-blowing. I mean, look at the resolution. It really is jaw-dropping. Beautiful stuff, man!
Wow, excellent video and an unbelievable example of Anthropomorphism. That poor little “guy” worked so hard to do what was expected and even in the last moments of it life it tried to get back home. Actually, the emotional journey almost brings the same feelings and tears as losing a pet cat or dog-sad.
The Thunderbolts Project (Electric Universe) has a totally different take on what caused these dendridic channels. It's more consistent with your observation. They are the result of massive electrical discharges - massive lightning strikes at an electrically active period. Not the result of water flow. It's a compelling argument. It can be replicated in the lab. I don't pretend to know what happened on Mars a few billion years ago.
It just seems like yesterday they detached Ingenuity from it's carry space under the rover. It was only designed to take five flights, yet it lasted three years on Mars and a lifetime in our hearts.
History foretells a dark age ahead for humanity as we chose to intentionally demolish our accomplishments. This video sums up humanity at its best, and we are so lucky to witness it live in our lifetimes. Thank you!
@Grayfox354 No, it's phobos passing in front of the sun like an eclipse. What I was saying is that for some reason the stars are also passing in front of the sun.
Thanks. Exciting stuff and poetic anthro-po-morphizing (making human) of these "wonderful gadgets". I noticed in one close up : Plastic Cable Ties holding wiring tight together and to the machine. I always say cable ties are one of the great inventions of our age. Who invented them? I use them almost daily for all kinds of things,
It's a sad loss. The things we've never seen will remain so. Perhaps a future mission will repair it.That would be quite a ways down the list as more areas need exploring, and so many tests are already planned, and the equipment being built for them that something to change the prop isn't feasible.Thank You to the teams that built and ran Ingenuity !
This is where the money should go , Ingenuity has done far more than fifty manned missions. Other than earth orbit, manned missions are obsolete! Ingenuity and Perseverance type exploreations are the future.
it would be nice to think one day Ingenuity will be recovered both to recover the data and to preserve and memorialize an iconic ground breaking piece of equipment.
I can just see it now, someday we're going to make contact with another lifeform in the universe and the first thing they're going to say to us is "Hey! You gonna pick up all that crap you left on Mars? This ain't earth ya know." 😂
Not trying to be a buzz kill here but I was of the impression that the Eagle from Apollo 11 flew in controlled flight over the surface of the moon until Landing. That, I'm sure, was the first controlled flight over an extra terrestrial body.
Great views of Mars. Ingenuity is priceless. You could make a childrens' book, with pictures, about her and educate kids, if not too late. I agree water seems to have flowed. However, what was the atmospheric pressure in Mars's ancient times, to enable liquid water not to evaporate? And if a suitable atmospheric pressure, how did the low Martian gravity not enable the loss of this atmosphere, I mean not over millions or billions of years.
I'm surprised they didn't anticipate blades coming into contact with something and have protection around the blades perhaps on Ingenuity 2! We learn as we go
Okay, who cried? 👀
I honestly shed a few tears over Ingenuity. Rest well little buddy.

Not any real men.

Bye bye ingenuity😢

on e-bay.
Landing this rover on Mars, & viewing the landscape in such detail is one of the coolest things we’ve done as a species…. Maybe the coolest.
The landscape of Mars has an uncanny resemblance to the Australian Outback. I wonder why that it 🤔
