  • The new Panamera 4S Diesel is the fastest production diesel car in the world and I have been lucky enough to drive it. In this video I take a look at the impressive array of technology, including the all new dash and infortainment system. It is VERY impressive. I then take it out on the road and put it through its paces, exploring Normal, Sport and Sport+ modes.
    Huge thanks to Porsche Centre Portsmouth for inviting me to drive to car and inviting me to the launch party a few weeks ago.

    I have just ordered the E-Hybrid version so I have seen hundreds of videos on the Panamera and I have to say this is one of my favourites, thank you.

    Having driven the new Panamera range I think you gave a great review and captured the essence of the car. You can't describe just how fast this car is with 850nm of torque it's a monster. The turbo is fantastic too but the power is delivered smoother with the diesel. I'm really enjoying your channel.

      Great to hear you like my stuff. Not driven the Turbo but I imagine it very rapid ! This car was very impressive.

    Good video bud. I just picked up my first car sold here in Shanghai, China. Very pleased with the performance and built quality. Just feel solid in the car. Unfortunately my manual came in Chinese so this video came in very handy to know few functions that I could've not imagined.

      @@PetrolPed I just got her! Unbelievable machine! Pulls like an elephant and in the same time burns 10-12 l/100 km. I think she has more than 421 hp? I had Audi A8 4.2 TDI 385 hp for 3 years and it's nothing like it.

    The next gen 2017 Porsche Panamera is the 1st model built off the VW Group's MSB platform (support front engine and rwd or awd layouts), US models get engines that will be shared with Audi (V6 and V8 turbos) and Bentley (V8 turbo), all Panamera get Porsche new 8 speed PDK (sourced from ZF), looks better than the last gen Panamera, but with inside the VW Group, Audi’s A7 family still is VW Group’s best looking sedan

      Petrol Ped thanks for the feedback, I'm learning a lot as I carry on pursuing this, the scripting aspect I find very difficult but I'm sure with time it will come. Looking forward to your next instalment!

    • @PetrolPed
      @PetrolPed  7 років тому +2

      Not necessarily a script, just a basic story board. Think of what it is you want to cover. Does that car have a particular thing you want to talk about. For the Panamera it was the tech. When I had the V12 Vantage it was the Gearbox. Then just think about the basic running order. I'm no expert by the way ;-)

    For a 4 person luxury GT, I prefer this to the S Class and 7 Series. That TDV8 is a dream engine. Huge torque, good bhp, but you also get mpg and range. I know rich people can afford petrol, it's not about price. It's about making continuous stops for fuel. In a GT, you want to go fast but stop as little as possible. Its a shame BMW and Mercedes don't have TDV8 engines for their luxury cars.

    • @bouncycastles1214
      @bouncycastles1214 6 років тому

      Symbolic Automotive Mercedes does do v8 and v12s on their high end petrol lineups bit no v8 diesels as far as I know. BMW answer to a v8 diesel is to get 3 litre 6 six cylinder diesel and strap in 4 turbos. Seriously overkill in my opinion just to meet the stringent fuel emissions and engine downsizing.

    Second to comment, good review I was wondering why they did a sedan model and now I know. Also, you are so lucky to get to drive all these fantastic cars. How about doing one on the electric SLS, I read that it's supposed to be very powerful electric car.

    Mega thumbs up quality vid mate...quick question? what is the combined MPG in a normal driving manner?

    • @PetrolPed
      @PetrolPed  7 років тому +1

      Thanks. Porsche quote 42mpg Combined Cycle for the 4S Diesel. I don't think I got that as I was driving quite vigorously :-)

    • @staceymcgrath6971
      @staceymcgrath6971 7 років тому +1

      Petrol Ped Good figures for a V8 diesel.I might consider the e-hybrid as the power is more and the fuel consumption is less based on their figures. I presume the e-hybrid could be more of a synthetic ride though? I would have to test drive both to confirm that!

    • @PetrolPed
      @PetrolPed  7 років тому +1

      I've only driven the old shape Panamera eHybrid on track at Porsche Experience Silverstone. I was quite nippy but it didn't really impress me. However, the new one is meant to be really good. If you watch my latest review, the V8 Diesel Cayenne S which has the same engine, my friend who owns the car has got 31mpg avg over the last 4000 miles. Unbelievable for such a big and mindblowingly fast car !!!

    • @staceymcgrath6971
      @staceymcgrath6971 7 років тому

      Petrol Ped Funnily enough I was looking at the cayenne's yesterday both the 3.0 and the 4.2. Im guessing both of these will have higher fuel consumptions in comparison to the panamera because of the weight. Already test drove the 4.2 and it has brutal power and torque. The performance is great...if you can afford the running costs. I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place as I commute a 350 mile round trip weekly and I think the Cayenne would be too big as I have a fiancé.. a small dog and no kiddies 🙄

      I'm afraid I'm not sure. I'd probably go for the sportier seats as they will look cool all the time and I'm not sure how often you would go for a massage !

    It's strange back in the day Audi went to Porsche for engine's and now its reversed. I think it was for the early Audi 100 not 100% sure so don't quote me on that. You have raised some good points and food for thought when looking for a new family executive motor car but I feel that BMW, Audi, Merc could be in trouble as the new car just looks fab WOW its a weapon I can't imagine driving the turbo version that will have the 20 seconds bonkers of boost button you will need a G suit and a spare pair of pants for afters....

      I own a 2016 e-Hybrid and the battery being drained should not stop the car from starting. My battery is normally drained to 0, because I live where only street parking is available, and I never have any issues with starting the car. Not sure what was wrong with the one you went to test drive.
