I was visiting family in London and Kiss FM played this and soul II soul non stop.... great stuff. The clubs were playing the garage house style like this as well.. miss those days
Not an easy song to cover, but hat's of to British singer Joanna Law who doesa sterling job of this Roberta Flack classic from 1972, and what a beautiful voice too she posseses, Joanna the sister of Simon Law, really makes this song her own with a more upbeat interpretation
Ah yes , shot at the old Bass Clef. Jo looking very elegant, Simon giving a little smile, Sedley, JT and Ross chippin in, Jeff with sticks in his hands and Chris at the table countin the money! Lovely stuff.
@@thersten I only recently realized Adult Swim has been airing a show since like 2011 called "Off the Air". I stopped getting cable tv back in 2005, so it's just downloads from there on. TOTALLY missed the existence of this show. It's VERY much like MTV AMP was. Was just going to download them all off youtube today!
gonna be horrid... `1. this mix does not capture Jo's fantastic voice.. 2. the supporting act whatever you call this crap, is, erm, crap. Jo did a fantastic cover of this song, full of emotion. I'm searching, and this is not it.
No that can’t possibly be what he / she is referring to (just clicked on your link and seen it and it’s eerie and creepy). What Joanna has done here is absolute genius and is timeless. We used to jam to this at parties in Gabs Botswana back in 90 /91 and it was just on another level.
Awesome song and version. She's not how i expected her to look. Been listening to it in a mix since 1990 thanks to Mastermix BPM Part 2 the second generation, excellent megamix with lots of great songs like this, timmy thomas, danny madden, innocence etc
One of the best remakes EVER !! NUFF RESPEKT !!!!!!!!!
One of the finest tunes 😊
Great times in London....1990...Pirate radio, Hip Hop, Rare funk, Certain clubs, Kiss fm, Record fairs, West end record shops.....Great days..

Sad thing is, youtube doesn't have the orange-filtered version of the video I originally saw on "MTV AMP".
Mtv amp. That's a trip!

Fabulous voice - horrible arrangement, especially with that snare drum roll, like a military parade
