This is the version of All Apologies that they released on the 20th anniversary of In Utero. If I'm remembering correctly, they had it labeled as a demo from 92. Clearly this contradicts that. Side note, this is a better clean up than what was officially released.

My answer most times " I know a genius when I hear one". I love this version of All Apologies, Kurt had an amazing gift. He didn't understand the gift and that's really sad. He was so hung up on Them against us type of attitude. His denial was unbelievably deep. Poor guy so young,so talented and so dead. Damn it!!!! Heroine kills, please kids do not even think of trying it.Kurt would still be here had he not become a dope addict.

He was indeed murdered, but if he had been clean, he wouldn’t have so many awful people around him. Also, a clearer head and a clearer perspective could have saved his life. Heroin eventually clouds everything. Sucks so much what happened.

    • @7Korat

It's more complicated than heroine alone. Kurt suffer on chronic pain since childhood and any doctor can't help him, so from other perspective drugs could be for him one of a few arguments which gave him force to live longer. It's only my alternate perspective on his choices.

This is one of their more underrated sessions and I wish that Kurt had completed more vocals/lyrics for the other tracks. It’s amazing how Kurt’s creativity peaked as high, if not higher than what it had been since 1987. Kurt wrote Nevermind and roughly half of In Utero after Dave joined the band and he and Kurt were living together. This session showcases how much more powerful and tighter the band had become and that Kurt’s songwriting was developing so much more quickly than his peers, and serves as a bridge of sorts.

its not even about skill at this point . its about dynamic. something most bands lack is just cause you can play it dont mean you should. listen to aneurysm and how kurt starts the beat, then the drums and bass keep the beat while he unclogs an artery with his guitar! everything is blood and love related. thats poetry and dynamic. the punk break in the middle with that chord scramble is perfect. i can picture an old woman zoning out in a chair with intensity, letting old age soak everything. every song has its own palette of scenery and dynamic. i bet kurt avoided having two songs sound the same at all costs.

Everyone -- First, thank you for the compliments. Secondly, I was playing this a-la mobile and found there were UA-cam ADS?? If anyone has experienced this, please let me know as per my disclaimers - I AM NOT DOING THIS FOR PROFIT AND UNDER FAIR USE. Showing my kids how the recording process used to work (from song to tracks to post-production shit/magic), I have spent the last several years trying to preserve all the odd sorts of musical tidbits that tell more of a story than "NEVERMID" :) Lastly, I love preserving music but have found of late that UA-cam has been flagging anything I remaster from Amadeus to Zappa. It sucks because I do this for love of the music, art, and for the non-deaf public domain... more to come next week.

David Lee Yeah but to be fair if you look at the quality of his work before 1991 it’s obvious he really couldn’t be bothered after that, those early songs are superbly crafted & surprisingly technical. I wonder how far they could have developed them with proper studio time, that said the best punk rock stays in the underground

And this is why I am so happy I worked on this! Enjoy! Thanks to feedback, I have re-ordered my Outcesticide collection to see what I can clean up/produce a modern mixes of! My biggest goal are Serve The Servants (live or otherwise) and Talk To Me (live or otherwise): clean, end-to-end listenable, and as complete as possible. Serve The Servants is close to my heart, but digging through my office this year, I can't find old cassettes I had with wonderful bootleg versions of that song. As for Talk To Me, I am stuck with Internet sources I will have to up-sample, EQ, time, splice, and layer to try and get a "cleaner/less box sounding" track for the masses! Besides this video, I have a BLOCKED ONE from 8 "Rape Me" demos/guide tracks, etc, I can't get published on UA-cam :( Even my father, who was only a fan of Bleach, says it's my "Magnum Opus" of mixing.... sigh...

I've been on so much nirvana since middle school. not many bands have since mixed punk rock with pop in a way I love so much. I'm on an endless search for good music. It's out there. anyone can record anything in their bedroom these days. Shits tight
