My favorite Oasis tune! So excited to watch this. Your content is some of the most consistently great on youtube. Thank you for this!
Thanks Zakk!
For that kind comment, consider yourself pinned!
@@JamesHargreavesGuitar by the way, if you listen to the Dave Sardy mix of this song, some of the "hidden" elements become a lot more clear. The first time I heard it was also the first time I heard that weird keyboard in the intro. Its mixed much louder
Got to agree with you there Zakk, Morning Glory is by far my favourite track.
Those videos will be 2 hours long! Lol
I've read an interview with Anjali Dutt about recording Definitely Maybe, and she seems to recall Guigsy playing bass on most of the songs such as Cigarettes and alchohol, Live forever and rock n roll star, and that the only one's the noel played on are Slide away and Up in the Sky
Splendid.
Cheers Brian!
5:51 - Noel's harmony ('I said well') has been one of my favorite parts of the song for years. I can hear it near the end of the song in the full mix. Pretty cool that you called it out! Nice job, as always. Really enjoy these breakdowns.
This song (along with ‘my big mouth’) might have the best oasis guitar riff.

Great video as always! As a huge Oasis fan, it feels like Christmas every time you upload videos like this! Love it x
Thank you so much for these videos james! Youre a legend. Love the music
Perfect video for what i was searching for. Thank you so much.
Thank you James for answering my question about the radio frequencies on your previous video on backwards Oasis tracks. I absolutely live for your uploads. Keep up the good work my friend!!
these videos are just next level!
Cheers Jake! Was great fun figuring all this out... feel like I got to know a ton of the wider Oasis community on this one too
always been one of my favourite oasis tunes! hargreaves, cannon and morning glory, what a video
this is such a fun breakdown! and i love you've continued to do this kind of analysis. Em, was there a rock band/guitar hero videogame dlc that had an undiscovered Noel GallagherOasis solo to it? I could swear you talked about it but couldn't find the video about it. Cheers!
What an amazing song!! Love this, such an interesting listen to break down the tracks
Cheers Curtis!
James you are a gem!
Love these break down videos brilliant James ❤️
Yet another fantastic video. Great, GREAT work sir!
I think bittersweet symphony would make a great deep dive video. Also, great video as always 👍
Lovely stuff once again.
Fascinating hearing all the extra hidden/buried stuff.
Great video ! I can’t wait for more ! 👍🏼
Superb stuff as always cheers James 👏👏
Oh My God the vocals on their own LETSGOOOO
It’s so cool hearing Liams isolated vocals on this song. Never heard it before
Agree, I’m always blown away about how mega his vocals are!
Heck yeah. Liam was on top of his came at this time; just blows your head of from the first note. So much swagger but really melodic and perfectly in tune.
How do you isolate tracks so well? This video is far beyond what I was expecting! you are balls deep in this haha
These videos are gold for an aspiring indie artist/ oasis fanatic
Once again brilliant ! Really hope you get the chance to speak with Noel eventually one day for the channel as your efforts and unique deep exposure to his music really mean your deserve it!
Great In depth content again James
Another great video James 👍
goodness gracious
this is absolutely GOLD for an obsessed person like me
Listed to this song at work today.
Excellent video series as always James!
Never noticed the commander Bond line before, not certain exactly which film it is. But i'm certain it's either Thunderball or You Only Live Twice. As in the Connery era Bond film always refer to him as Commander Bond whenever he is always teaming up with the army.
Keep up the good work!
Since I first heard this song, probably about 15 years ago, I've wondered what that last bit of music at the end was but have never managed to find out, impressive journalism skills!
Took me 20 years to notice that weird sound too
This is the one!
Can't wait until you do a bloated song of the Be Here Now era.
He can’t there’s no multi tracks
James should release Be Here Now… Naked !
He'd probably find sound of people snorting lines spilling into each track. Rumour has it , it's buried in the mix .
@@alirlandes2238 HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA that would be a fucking gift!
Will be a long video if he has to go through each layer of tracks haha. Great album though
Hi James. Fantastic channel keep up the tireless work. WTSMG is my favourite album of all time and always wanted to know what that little bit of “radio” tuning vocal is on the end of WTSMG going into the intro for Champagne Supernova? If anyone knows it’s gotta be you! Bugged me for bloody years.
Where can I get the isolated tracks from this video, brilliant video this is hope for some more oasis ones :)
I like your oasis videos
YES!!!!
I can’t be the only one that think the lead line on the Em chord reminds me of day tripper?
It's interesting, it's actually lifted almost note for note from 'The One I Love' by REM!
@@DH-TV Michael Stipe actually sings Fire during the chorus of The One I Love
Great info, great video. You should consider doing something similar for some of the Be Here Now tracks. Always been interested to know whether the jazz outro of “Magic Pie” is sampled from a song or simply a stock sample from a mellotron. Keep up the good work
Nothing wrong with Guigsy's playing. The only reason Noel would of recorded it is he already knew the song.
You are brilliant at what you do mate👍🏻✌🏻👍🏻✊🏻✌🏻. A little tip, get some posters and guitars etc in the background for the videos. It’d make it look more professionally . You decipher songs like nobody else I’ve seen; plus you speak well and are enthusiastic. Love from Liverpool ✌🏻
Surpassed yourself with this one ☝️
I really enjoyed this. Can you do a video like this talking about Going Underground by the Jam please?
Great
Never noticed before how much the "lead guitar" part played in cowboy chord position sounds like Hey Hey My My.
Nice one
תודה!
Hi Itamar, thankyou so much for your support :)
Spendid Sir.. How did BC pressing buttons add to the mix? Scared of that tune now..it was possessed man. Loved how it cut through london calling at tyson fury's after fight in vegas..
This song is absolutely fucking Megan addition of having no on the well is pure bloody genius
def noel on the bass. its absolute genius
Just out of interest why do you assume Guigy's sloppy on the bass? By this point he's been playing for 5 years at least including the whole of the Definitely Maybe tour so he's probably more than up to scratch.
there is a presentation of Oasis on the Show David Letterman, Liam, Alan, Noel and a great performance of Bonehead on bass ... very good actually !!!!
Woah soul II soul! Since 1995, I thought it was a snippet of the course from "Beat It".
James how do you have access to all these tracks?
Be here now every track will be crazy hehehe
I’m sure I watched a 25th anniversary interview where Noel said that every song started with him recording a basic acoustic track and they started from there. I thought that would mean every song would have a straight acoustic track buried in the mix, but I guess they just wipe that track once the electric rhythm guitar and base parts are added?
Ps
Just sat in my garden listening to what’s the story and wondering if the acoustic version of wonderwall we hear on the album intro before Hello is the base track and also the intro to acquiescence could be the acoustic base of what’s the story title track?? Hope you know what I mean because I’ve had a few beers and I’m not sure I do d’yer know what I mean
I'd love if you could do one of these for D'you Know What I Mean
There's a guitar riff at the end of the song around 4.28 that repeats a couple of times
Do you have tony's part for this album before alan join?
Could you release a full vocal track from Liam?
What amp n guitar were used on WTSMG recording session Jim ? I hear a strat n tele on it. The amp, is it plexi n Voxac30 ?
Did they tune Liam's vocals with the SA CD mix?
how do you break down the song into individual tracks ? it'd be really helpful to practice guitars
I might be wrong but I think the line "Commander bond come in" is from The Spy Who Loved Me.
Where are these stems from?
Not being a guitar player, I never knew how much "wall of sound" some artists put into their studio mixes. Is this what defined 90s-era British rock? How the heck do they keep track of it all when writing? I take it live performances are some sort of generalized mix of all this stuff...?
Biblical!
This song was very hard to reproduce live! Especially for Oasis Mach I.... But when Gem came along, & played the lead guitar licks that are on the record, suddenly the song sounded properly done! Having said that... I definitely miss Bonehead's power chord rhythm guitar part live! It added some extra 'oomph,' especially right before the guitar solo. Final verdict: Gimme the Oasis Mach I version of this, even if it does sound much more ' stripped down!'
Can anyone provide me with the full isolated bass track as I can’t find it anywhere??
This keyboard part urges for a technodance remix hahahaha
Did you mention the chord that starts at 0.14 sounds like an Em7 bar chord on the 7th fret?
great vid by the way
I think that 'come in, commander Bond' bit is Noel doing a bad Sean Connery impression.
Any chance for a pissup sometime listening to an album from start to finish?
Can be virtual
Ah congrats, your shoulders have returned!
Ace
Not just any helicopter, but a Bell “Huey”, if I’m not mistaken.
That crazy keyboard track reminds me of the Jew's Harp part from "Give it Away": once heard can never be unheard.
Such a happy time of my life... sorry, I've had a wine, feeling wistful. Ain't time a bitch
Pretty sure that the Bond film is The Man with the Golden Gun?
Pity that Noel's guide vocal on Track 21 was lost
Epic. The entire song sounds like a prison break
It might be On Her Majesty's Secret Service at 0:44:27-ish
There’s a lot going on with this tune. A bit of a precursor it seems to the kitchen sink of Be Here Now.
That wee sound clip was me. All oasis members where saying “Happy Bee your the man!!! Your so cool! more cool than liam and more handsome than liam and you can sing better than liam (even Liam agreed) and even though you can’t play a single instrument your a much better musician than noel or any other band member. Will you join the band and take liams place? (Even liam himself was begging me to) please? Pretty please? Pretty please with sugar on top?” What you hear in that little bit is me saying “naah guys your allright.you guys crack on. I’m too good even for oasis.” They all nodded in agreement and admitted that i was right.
There’s no chance that Liam played tambourine on any of the tracks, Alan plays all of it.
Aha, thought I was a clever sausage for hearing those high bass bits, but it turns out I’ve been playing them a bit wrong. Oops! Dunno if that’s guitar feedback though man, sounds too metallic here.
I know guigs wasnt the best bass player in the world, but the fact that noel played most of the bass over the 3 albums when guigs was in the band. Actually makes me wonder why guigs left
Haha it’s that simple.
Singularly the most overestimated album in British music history!!! I'm not saying it's bad, I just don't along with this 'sainted' and "wonderment" it has attached to it!
Know of anything released since that had as much anticipation and quality as this record? I’ll wait
