Glad you're doing fine! We miss you and your tutorials here! Thanks for coming back to our lives! Hope you don't disappear again :)
Hehe, Yeah, I know, I am not very quick getting videos out....but I'm still here! I'll try not to disappear for too long😁
Yes, please don't go underground again. ✌
Is there something interesting new from your 3d printer?
I love your joke delivery. your kind of “indifferent humor” hits right where I laugh the most.
Thanks so much:)
Love ur vids! Your steampunk creations are absolutely amazing!!
Thank you so much, I appreciate the feedback!
Thank goodness Chris is back (I’ve rewatched every tutorial you’ve posted while stuck in lockdown)! Another great video (you’re always really honest in your reviews)
... and like so many others I can’t wait to see/hear more about the knight armour 🙏🏼. Hope you and your family are staying safe during the pandemic 👍🏻.
Awww, thanks so much, yes, we are staying safe, all the best to you and yours as well!
Missed your great tutorials and awesome personality. Thanks for the info
You're welcome😁
Wow This would be really great for molds
Awesome video! Exciting product! Thanks for the video😎👍
You're welcome!
Very useful! Thank you very much Chris, I'm going to test it for sure!!!
Nice! I'm sure you'll have fun with it:)
Thanks! I'm going to give this a try. Also excited for the knight pattern!
Nice! I'm excited for the knight pattern too!
Thanks for this. Looking forward to testing.
You're welcome! It's really fun stuff to play around with (and useful too)
I like the idea of a reusable mold 👍
This stuff looks cool I just bought some, thanks for showing the options here. Just what I needed to see.
Glad it was helpful!
Love the video. Can't wait to try the stuff.
Have fun!
I love you!! Still use your patterns to this day!! 😍❤
Yay! Thank you!
fantastic video Chris
Glad you enjoyed it!
Great wideo king, fun and nixe to watch
Didn’t know this one! Thanks!
Oh yes, this stuff is legendary in the modeling world, great stuff!
One thing people do with it is making a frame for the mold with Lego, they also make a piece to push the material in too, for the delicate details
That's a great idea, thanks for the input!
Wow this sounds amazing! Also: love your stuff! Still working on my first build from your instructions!
Thanks, I hope your build is going well!
@@LostWax oyumaru vs blue stuff
Thank you! I was trying to find good review for a while and you were thorough! 🖤 this helped a lot!
I'm glad it helped! Yeah, I watched a few and was still left wondering what the actual material felt like....
@@LostWax true! I wanted to ask: did the oyumaru leave any residue on the lego suit guy? I wanted to test the ozumaru on my shoe decoration (it is made from hard plastic a would make excellent base for earrings base) but I am still scared it will damage the shoe 👞. Also: did you try to cast UV resin from the oyumaru mold? I think it will burn through... Thank you so much 😊
@@angelonweatherwax8083 No, it didn't leave any residue, it seems to come off really nice and clean. Haven't tried with resin, so can't say about that one.
OHHHH THAT LEGO FIGURE TURNED OUT BETTER THAN I THOUGHT
Thanks! I think with some practice you could get some really good results......
Chris! Good to see your smiling farce again!
😁
@@LostWax and by 'farce' i mean... A light dramatic work in which highly improbable plot situations, exaggerated characters, and often slapstick elements are used for humorous effect.
@@VaultBoy1776 Love it!
That's amazing
Interesting material and great review.
Thank you Michael!
That stuff is remarkable!!
For some reason I thought the business man's face would be in the mould, it was such a shock to see his blank face.
3:52 I recently had surgery on my forehead, that sounded like it, too.
Hehe, I guess it wiped the smile right off his face.
interesting material. thanks for sharing
My pleasure
Great video and review. I use this thermoplastic with Oateys Fix it Stick (hardware store epoxy putty) to make multiple versions of very expensive Warhammer models). Because of the mold line issue you found with the Lego man, the models aren't display quality, but can be filled and sanded or cleverly painted. Great way to save money when you need 3 Mega Gargants and the kit for 1 costs $160.
Nice!
You are awesome and funny and awesome! Thanks
You're pretty awesome too!! Thanks for watching!
This is great! Thank you so much for sharing. I want to make shoe lasts for my dolls. Best,
Nice! Thanks for watching!
I've used Oyumaru for mould making for a long while - I use it for recasting Transformers and Gundam parts, though it's not the best for real complicated pieces.
I'm trying to make my own candy crush pieces. They're pretty simple shapes so i doubt ill need to worry too much about it not being that great for details. I just need something that acts similar to Amazing mold maker, can be wrapped around itself to form a tight-fitting shell, is easily cuttable, firm yet soft when cured, and see-through. I want to see the clay piece inside it as i mold it around the piece, and that i can cut it to take my clay out once it's cured so i can get 3D molds.
Ooh. This stuff could come in handy for casting replacement limbs for model horses! And...knight armor!? What??
Yes, that sounds like a good fit for it!! And knight armour because, well, doesn't everyone need a set? Thanks for watching!!
It would give me nightmares drinking tea out of those mugs. For two reasons.
1- Those mugs are minging.
2- Tea is minging. (Its treason for a British person to say this, but there you go
!)
I use blue stuff all the time for moulding and it is amazing. I get very detailed Motu heads, weapons, etc using the blue stuff. I've even replicated arms and legs for test Motu-style figures. Also perfect copies of star wars 3.5" figure parts. I would advise using Lego and plasticine clay to get even two part moulds, there's tonnes of videos on UA-cam that show how to do this.
It's great when you need to make a mold fast. Had my friend buy me some when she studied in Japan.
If you have trouble finding Oyumaru you can look for Blue Stuff from Green Stuff World - basiclly the same stuff (but Oyumaru is cheaper - at least when you live in Germany)
Thanks for the tip!
So, that armour behind you... :D Are we going to get a tute?
You bet!! It's been a long time coming, it'll probably be 5 videos....which is why it's been so long since I last uploaded😁
Awesome!!
Would you be willing to to test this as a two part mould and try some resin in it to see if the exothermic reactions deteriorate the detail of the mould, would also be interesting to see if the clear stuff works with a UV resin and whether the light is strong enough to penetrate the rubber and cure the resin.
I think resin could get too hot for the mold to retain it's integrity- The idea of using clear with UV resin is an interesting direction, I could see that working really well.
UV resin is also exothermic, probably will work once then the mold will degrade too much to use again, not really a problem as it's easy to remake of course but still
Is Matt Berry getting residuals from Lego for them using his likeness.
Sorry for looking at the armour instead of you during parts of the video. Couldn't help myself :-P When will we see that build?
That winged Uni-Lion-Corn looks great
Coming as soon as possible, just gotta finish off the arms- hopefully the tutorials will start coming out in the next month.
Hehe, thanks for noticing!
Btw. Is oyumaru equals blue stuff? Can i mix them into 1 piece?
This is available on Green Stuff world called blue stuff
Seems like a good material for making a simple mold. I wonder if it would work for rubber stamping also.
Hmm, that's a great idea, though my first thought is that the ink might not cover evenly, the stuff seems a bit hydrophobic at first impression.....
I've been looking for something to make molds with- thank you qvq
Also if your having troubles with another language there's a translator app that you take pictures with that could help eve 👍
Hehe, yep that'd be helpful!
Try using Vasoline or other petroleum jelly to coat the facing molds and they should come apart with no problem.
Nice tip!
Could you make a lego clone trooper phase 2 mold? Especially those from 2007
I think you could, but it'll still be tricky to get really perfect results....
What would happen if you made both sides of the mold with the same color? Would they stick together more? Or is the temperature difference the thing that keeps them apart?
The colour doesn't make a difference, you're right about the temperature being the key to getting them apart.
The reason why you didnt heard before is because it is only exclusively sold in Japan. Mainly is for kids to learn how to make moulds or learn how to cast.. It is very fun to play with.
👍
Don't forget to bump the quality up to 4k for all the floating dust action you can handle!
So, could this be good for cold casting coins?
I think it would work really well with flat objects, so yes, I'd say it would work. I'd say it really shines for if you just need to make a couple of something, if you are going to be making a lot of casts, a silicone mold would be better.
Is this the same blue stuff that is sold by GreenStuffWorld? Just marketed different?
I'm pretty sure it is the same stuff, just different name.
will it still work if i drink coffee instead of tea?
Mmmm, doubtful.....
Would it work for resin?
I can't say, but if the reaction produces enough heat, it'll remelt the Oyumaru....
@@LostWax ah true that!
Dose it work with air dry clay
I think it would, as long as you can get the clay out of the mold so it can dry.
I have the same tea kettle!!! @_@
I've had a lot of great cups of tea thanks to that kettle:)
Any idea why my 2 halfs stick together ?
Hmm, did you try making sure one half had a thin layer of water on it? I also wonder if dusting one side with a little talcum powder would help.....I haven't tried, but that's sometimes used in mold making...
@@LostWax yes I did and still stuck
But late to the party on this one but IM SUPER ANTICIPATIOUS THATS A WORD NOW FOR THAT KNIGHT ARMOR, I'll end up doming the chest a bit more, maybe a tip for you too, not sure, but regardless, it looks awesome and I can't wait to get my hands on that pattern
I am too! Will be releasing it next Saturday!!
This is thermoplastic, I’ve used it to make fake teeth for vampire/monster costumes.
Nice! is it non toxic? I can't tell from the packaging:)
Cool, but it's a shame it can't be used for injection molds.

Hi Chris, nice to see you back... too long since the previous one.
Check this out... ua-cam.com/video/mVZLXLaidjQ/v-deo.html
don't use Oyumaru for resin folks
why?
lintas news exactly why
Resin heats up as it cures, therefore the Oyumaru will deform while the resin cures and screw up your final piece.
