Lyrics:
Clouds so swift
Rain won't lift
Gate won't close
Railings froze
Get your mind off wintertime
You ain't goin' nowhere
Whoo-ee, ride me high
Tomorrow's the day
My bride's gonna come
Oh, oh, are we gonna fly
Down in the easy chair
I don't care how many letters they sent
Morning came and morning went
Pick up your money
And pack up your tent
You ain't goin' nowhere
Whoo-ee, ride me high
Tomorrow's the day
My bride's gonna come
Oh, oh, are we gonna fly
Down in the easy chair
Buy me a flute
And a gun that shoots
Tailgates and substitutes
Strap yourself to the tree with roots
You ain't goin' nowhere
Whoo-ee, ride me high
Tomorrow's the day
My bride's gonna come
Oh, oh, are we gonna fly
Down in the easy chair
Genghis Khan
He could not keep
All his kings
Supplied with sleep
We'll climb that hill, no matter how steep
When we come up to it
Whoo-ee, ride me high
Tomorrow's the day
My bride's gonna come
Oh, oh, are we gonna fly
Down in the easy chair

Love this version, Dylans gift was Music, but his Purpose was to give it away to all of us.
Dylan's a classic whose music will stand the test of time. He ain't goin' nowhere.
I dedicate this Dylan song to my cousin Pat Dietz . He performed this tune beautifully . Rest in Peace Pat. I sure do miss you.
I’d love to have heard him play!
Bob at his brilliant best. No song writer will ever touch him. ❤
Isn't it amazing that after 20+ years of listening to Dylan, reading books and magazines and seeing him live I can still find a song I've inexplicably never heard before and it's the best thing ever!?
Especially this one. Not exactly obscure. But good for you
@@johnconway6976 😂
I've been playing and singing the Rise Up Singing version for too long (30 years). These lyrics make so much more sense.
Look up the Byrds version
You haven,t read too much
My father listened to Bob Dylan all my young life. My brother hates it now, but I love it. Feels like home to me. Miss you dear old Dad ❣️
Rest in peace dad.
Very good friend, your brother gets it, so do you.
The sheer joy and comfort this man has given me over the years is immeasurable. I thank dylan with all my heart for his brilliant pieces of art…
I totally agree 😊 I'm so glad I got to see him, with the Band in '74. The best ✌️❤️🌼
joy and comfort. Exactly!!
This song and I Shall Be Released were my go to songs on my player when I was having a bad day in prison.
This song lifts me in those ruff days … it’s a diamond ! God bless Bob !
Am Canadian,,Lightfoot and Young were great, but learned from Bob,the best.
love Lightfoot and Dylan.nuff said
Years ago my twin brother and I were listening to Bob Dylan while working on his 66 Chevy Impala. While doing so I happened to look up and noticed my father looking out the door of our home.
Shortly after my brother took his own life. I've never been the same.
Anyway years later I was listening to Dylan when my father sprung a conversation about that day years earlier. He told me he has never forgotten that day. It was the first time he'd heard of Bob Dylan. It was also that day he'd fallen in love with his music. My father has long been gone. What an incredible inspiration to have had such a cool father. I deeply miss them both.
@marco ……
Very sorry for your losses.
💞
"You kept up your end of the bargain" Thanks Bob.
Think I knew every word of every song on this album.
@lindabrown
Knew every word too!
What the hell the meant is another thing. Being stoned listening to BD was special ……..🤪🤪
The most accomplished wordsmith the English language has ever seen. I don't think anyone else is even close.
Bob Dylan greatly admires Kris Kristopherson's work.
That banjo playing in my right ear makes me feel alive and happy. :)
Merica!!!
One of my favorites
Every song is a first!
Damn this song realigns my world....what a MASTER !!!
I remember hearing this for the first time at 17 , it was unexplainably magical. Still is.
I was 15 at the time. ehe whole album is pure ecstasy.
Will die with his songs in my heart. As I've been repeatedly reminded for many years, his voice may not have much range in the boring "muso" context, but no other vocalist will ever come close in terms of instinctual infection & expression. Only The Byrds & Jimi Hendrix ever added value to his songs, through respect & sheer talent.
SKILLS not talent. Talent alone does nothing unless you practice constantly
A little credit to the Band, George Harrison, Manfred Mann & the Turtles too...their respective covers of Dylan are pretty damn good as well
Fairport Convention did brilliant covers and even Dylan liked them.
Thé Band was not so bad with his songs….
And of course Garcia & the Grateful Dead
He loves it deep down ❤
Un grand chanteur, bravo
My grandpa (papa) and I have sang this song since I was 4 years old. We still sing this song and now I’m 28 years old. He plays the acoustic and I sing and we will be singing this til the day we die.
Ooowwiiee!
Hello Dear, it’s nice meeting you on here
Have discovered this man's world in the past 6mth. Bob's world is difficult to learn because he stuck to his own guns and ended up making the brilliant mainstream acts (at the time, corporate...feast on that in 2023) of The Beatles, Pink Floyd, Zepp, Springsteen etc. look like bubblegum pop. He was more "My Way" than Frank Sinatra. My time and effort was so worth it, and this tune celebrates that.
One of Bob's most uplifting lyrics describing the joy of Honeymoon period of newlyweds with a great melody and harmonica. I purchased the DVD of the 30th anniversary concert and love the performance of this song by female trio of Mary Chapin Carpenter, Roseanne Cash and Shawn Colvin.
Bob Dylan
Clouds so swift, the rain falling in
Gonna see a movie called Gunga Din
Pack up your money, pull up your tent, McGuinn
You ain't goin' nowhere
Ooh-wee, ride me high
Tomorrow's the day that my bride's a-gonna come
Ooh-wee, are we gonna fly
Down into the easy chair
Genghis Khan and his brother Don
Couldn't keep on keeping on
We'll climb that bridge after it's gone
After we're way past it
Ooh-wee, ride me high
Tomorrow's the day that my bride's a-gonna come
Ooh-wee, are we gonna fly
Down into the easy chair
Buy me some rings and a gun that sings
A flute that toots and a bee that stings
The sky that cries and a bird that flies
A fish that walks and a dog that talks
Ooh-wee, ride me high
Tomorrow's the day that my bride's a-gonna come
Ooh-wee, are we gonna fly
Down into the easy chair
Ooh-wee, ride me high
Tomorrow's the day that my bride's a-gonna come
Ooh-wee, are we gonna fly
Down into the easy chair
Thanks!
"Pack up your money, pull up your tent, McGuinn" LOL!
I didn’t realize he was sing “pull up your tent, McGuinn,” but that’s clearly what he is singing. For fifty years, I thought he was singing “pull up your tent and break wind.” Laughing. Really! I guess my record player wasn’t very good.
We are snowed in today. I have 2 snow bound songs I absolutely love. You Ain't Goin Nowhere by about 30 artists an d Winterlude. I like to study yagnw by everyone.
Love this song and many more of his! Hooked on him since I was 16 . Will never be another Dylan
This is the version I first heard, with the album version coming somewhat later...folks would look at me like I was nuts when it came to sing-alongs... "What are you doowing?" Still know all the lyrics to 115th Dream, too.
Awesome
My favorite version!!!
Different lyrics pertaining to the moment. The Byrds were scheduled to show up at the studio and stood him up, hence the lyrics "pack up your money pull up your tent, McGuinn ". Gunga Din was also a Byrds song.
Look up the byrds
This is an exquisite version - I like the inflection in Mr. Dylan's voice in this take
@@tomsilberberg1978 look up the Byrds version
@@BadBoiFilms I have, I prefer this version :)
Sunday Mornings are Coffee and Dylan for me.
I love The Basement Tapes version best 👍🏻
Legendary
He's so cool
RIP Dad and Uncle Bill our camping/road trips were hysterical and legendary and Dylan's music was ever present.
After 40 years of listening to Dylan's music no one comes close to him a pure legend a true songsmith bless you Bob Dylan ❤️👍🎵🎼🕶️🎸
Always a mood changer for me. Thanks Bob
A mood changer for all Dylan fans around the world and you Wendy keep listening take care
His harmonica work shows great promise. We need to encourage this sort of thing.
BOB DYLAN WROTE THIS SONG AFTER HIS MOTORCYCLE ACCIDENT 🏍!!!! IT SIDELINED HIM AT HOME FOR A WHILE. ITS AMAZING HOW MANY PERFORMERS SANG HIS SONGS!!!
This is one of the best Dylan's songs. I am never tired to hear the song. Bob, I LOVE your MUSIC. All the best to you from Madrid Spain
Wow this song takes me back 50 years when I was just a little kid , what memories time waits for no one live each day like it’s your last !
Coronavirus lockdown is getting harder!!! We need more songs like this!

Yet another masterpiece by Dylan
How can somebody with a marginally good voice and guitar playing abilities be so dam good. Quite an enigma to say the least.
The power & drive of originality...& music to stitch it all together!
If he had a technically perfect voice it would take away the edge of the music, make it sound slick. Bob's voice is perfect for his poetry.
Bob is a mysterious dude, with mysterious powers.
Es simple o míralo con simpleza es Bob Dylan
Lyrics, lyrics, lyrics
Love this Dylan song. Reminds me of a George Harrison great song ' Apple scruffs '.
This is my favorite version of this great song.
Same dude. Same.
Same dude - same
Same dude. Same.
Silly me, I didn't know that it was Dylan who penned this one, like so many other songs of his that were popularized by others. Of course. I "grew up" with TheNGDB version that I first heard on "Will The Circle Be Unbroken Volume Two." I love their version. Now I know why they reference "Dylan" in their vocals!
Perfect. I used to play this song in my first band in 1973! Happy Birthday Bob! Wear a mask. You're at risk now. Be safe!
...some say he's always worn a mask..
@@G0K3001 This is one of the best descriptive sentences I've ever heard on My Buddy Bob...Hit the Nail On The Head On That Statement...Cheerz!!

Always been fond of this. It makes me smile when I 🎶 listen to it ☺.
Nobody does Dylan like Dylan 👌😁💕
Thats what i like real music feels like he sings in the mountain with bonfire and chill!!! Haays! King of folks songs dylan.
We've been playing this around the fire at deercamps for 40+ years...still great.
Cheers & Long Life, Bob!
What a great honor to have your name mentioned in a Bob Dylan lyric, eh Roger McGuinn?
One of my favorite songs heard so many versions but this one is phenomenal 😍
I currently have a Bob D - revival. And this song is just right.
so easy and so precise ! you ain´t goin´ nowhere.
Bob Dylan the best song writer ever even John Lennon knew that🤫
Hello Dear, it’s nice meeting you on here
Song reminds me of the first time I smoked MJ….
No idea what the song means, but to this day, I love dancing a fun little jig whenever I hear it ……
50 years ago, LOL ! 🤪🤪🤪

Such a Cool Song fm Bob.
Wonderful
Fantástico!!!
Cheers me up again this morning! 💞 ☕
Outstanding song
Hello Dear, it’s nice meeting you on here
Because of him I have been blowing in the wind since 1973 with a guitar and vocals
Bob Dylan is a genius, his songs are so great that it's impossible to make a bad cover (even if you have talent in music). Sometimes, I hear on the radio some songs, I think: "Oh, it's not too bad... Hey, it's a Dylan's song! That's why it's good" I love the Byrd's version too. :o)
I saw some Adele thing -- a cover of "Make you feel my Love". In COMMENTS there were people -- kids I assume -- RAVING about her songwriting. Finally somebody clued them in. :-) JL
@@JDLu0834 Adeele sucks just like all these brain dead kids. They all scream sing, and have to get vocal surgery, then disappear.
What a wonderful song. A more or less unknown take- which makes it more special
Bob Dylan is the king🤴🏽🤴🏽🤴🏽
Confúcio/Shakespeare/Jesus/Da Vinci/ Mozart/Victor Hugo/Sócrates...blend them all together, and you have Bob Dylan.
Completamente de acuerdo.
You left out Hitler
First saw this image 40+ years ago. Remains as beautiful.
SUPERB
🎶🎼🎼🎶⭐️
There will never be another… That’s why his music should be cherished for the remainder of this planet’s existence. The only writer who came close, at least in my opinion, was John Steinbeck. They both possessed the ability to say in one sentence what others require pages to convey.
as my soul is blown away
by the winds of the day
my heart was left bleeding
the only reason that love survives
is you have god by your side
i have heard that from many
Very good song 💓
Absolutely love this track. So good!!
Great timeLess cLassic.Peace n' Love Y'ALL.
My good buddy Tuna covered this song and exposed me to it not long before fentanyl took him from us. That was 10 years ago and I still come back and listen to this gem when I can't get him off my mind. Miss you dude but we'll chill again some day. Til then brother
This song lifts spirits
It does! Much of his work is biblical more or less....Job: 4.21 "Are not the cords of their tent pulled up so that they die without wisdom?"
Ex girlfriend committed suicide, ran away from my dad; my mom and brother moved away. Had nothing but my friend and this song, and it was more than enough to get me through
Be well, friend. You're never alone in this world.
You are the kind of person that I want for a friend. I wish we could listen to this song together. May you be comforted and thrilled still by the power of this song, and I will remember you as I listen to it from now on.
Can I use this comment for some song lyrics?

This is such an adorable song, Bob! 🌹
Went to Hibbing JC in 77-78 on a low budget hockey scholarship! Spent alot of time looking for this guy down on the tracks in Hibbing Mn. Nope never saw him but it wasnt for lack of trying!
Love this version for 2 reasons. 1) Harmonica reminds me of John Wesley Harding from 1967 as well. 2) The lyrics (which I've typed up below) are more fun than that "official" version, seem to be influenced by "Tattle O'Day" (aka "Little Brown Dog").

Love John Wesley Harding. Wish someone would posy it on YT.
Love❤️
Isn't it put up "your tent, McGuinn"?
I still think he says pull up your tent mcquin
I do a cover of this song-- but it's the Byrds version from the Sweetheart of the Rodeo album, which has more of a country flair to it. And the lyrics are a bit different too.
My favorite version of this song is on the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band’s, Will The Circle... Vol. 2. McGuinn and Hillman do a cover of it. It’s magical.
I agree…it’s a great cover! But Bob is always the best
Lovely love song❣️🌞🎶🍀❤️🌹👌
Greatest Hits Volume 2 is one of the first Bob albums I bought with my own money (paper boy money in fact). The other one was Before the Flood. My sisters had GH Volume 1 and Nashville Skyline. Way back then I thought, "well, he can't possibly have more stuff than this." I thought I had the complete works. I was so wrong.
Il Dylan devoto al country 🔝🎼❤️
Outstanding song and rendition!
Thanks Bob
Bobby! Sheesh !
A song forever worth adorations.
One of the few Dylan songs I've heard wch prominently features a banjo. All I can think of is, much later, "High Water". Such a jaunty, down-home version compared to the Basement Tapes tracks. I've been putting it on in the morning en route to work and singing along. Never fails to lift my spirits.
It does feature banjo player the banjo player is the late great Earl Scruggs his son Randy Scruggs is also in this
@@brianmaricle9646 Oh I didn't realize that. I also just found out that most of The Band is playing on Neil Young's song "Revolution Blues" from On The Beach.
