I have a German friend who met an American lady officer. They got married and moved to the USA. He calls himself "a male war bride."
Not only was Buck a great singer, he had the expressions down. If it was a happy song, he was lit up like a light bulb. If it was a sad one, like this, he looked like his heart was in the middle of breaking.

Reminds me of my Fraulein in Berlin. Our plans were derailed by a medical emergency at home so another GI stole her while I was gone. I certainly hope she had a wonderful life.

As with the hit recording, I wish they'd have played the whole verse instrumentally instead of cutting it short. Buck had the most wonderful pitch perfect high tenor voice!
