As with the hit recording, I wish they'd have played the whole verse instrumentally instead of cutting it short. Buck had the most wonderful pitch perfect high tenor voice!

My Uncle Danye was married to a German war bride after he served in the US Army during WW2. Their marriage didn't work out. My ex-aunt moved back to Germany and eventually so did my cousin Michael. I often wonder how he's doing. He was a few years older than me.

Back When there were jukeboxes this song was on every jukebox in every Texas Honky Tonk. I have two stepped to this song on many occasions. One myth I must dispel. Not every Texan loves country music but in my generation, every Texan could dance. Line dancing (except for the Cotton-Eyed Joe) does not count.

Not only was Buck a great singer, he had the expressions down. If it was a happy song, he was lit up like a light bulb. If it was a sad one, like this, he looked like his heart was in the middle of breaking.
