    Clearly unqualified people running the show. Clueless projector assistant. Producer if you want to call that so ill prepared. Blind cam operator just don't know where to point. I apologised to the guest who seems very passionate and an intellectual of MSV. Kudos to the sound guy...damn it he's listening to the voices

    Ramesh sir, Whatever pointers you've used to describe the aspects of music, APPLIES TO ILAYARAJA also. I enjoyed the entire Lec-dem. BUT PLEASE REFRAIN from using WRONG DATA (about IR's use of Shehnai in Part-3) when it comes to projecting MSV ahead of others. It does not sound good - considering many of us are fans of GOOD amazing MUSIC, first. BUT u were only talking about SONGS & you never came to the part of BGM (Background Score) which is the backbone of the movie. Movies are not just about songs alone.

      MSV has been a pioneer in BGM also and has excelled in BGM in many films. His BGM was so much integrated with the scenes that the audience did not think of viewing it separately! Just because some people have created a wrong impression that focus on BGM was a later day event, MSV's BGM won't get trivialized. Fans of MSV have been bringing about MSV's BGM wonders in a big way. I agree with you that there is no need to belittle someone while talking about the greatness of another. The same yardstick should apply to discussion about BGMs also.

      @@Thirukkural-Stories "has been a pioneer in BGM" - If going by that standard, then I extend it to CRS, GR, and KVM too! But I was talking about this kind of output (both qualitative and quantitative): ua-cam.com/channels/6chucmJi9ixYBBIt53LqlQ.htmlvideos Ramesh himself did a lec-dem on IR's background score in Nayagan. You may ask him.

      Dear Sir
      Am seeing your comment only now after a long time but I think I should reply..
      I just want clarify that I always endeavour to be totally objective in my approach to analysis.
      With regards to your objection about my referring to “Wrong use of Shenoy” by IR let be give the perspective.
      You know Nadaswaram? It’s always considered as a Mangala Vadyam in South India. Suppose in North Indian movies it’s constantly and regularly used for “ death” as a idiom?
      Well.. there is no reason why it cannot be. It’s true. However people who know about Nadaswaram and it’s place in the cultural psyche and it’s actual cultural function, would not be very enamoured by that, right?
      Will you like it as a South Indian who knows what Nadaswaram stands for? - It stands for Marriage, Temple, Festival, Happiness, Celebration etc. is it not?
      While as a composer I myself would try different sounds and even change traditional ideas and innovate there is also the above angle that one might want to consider.
      Well..my comment is in this context.
      I would request fans to be more open and not be too touchy and loose objectivity. Mostly it’s because fans give more importance to people than to their work.
      And finally, kindly look at the topic of the presentation. It’s about tune making. And not about BGM.
      You really can’t therefore fault me on that like the way you have!

    SADLY, Even in the songs composed by the DUO MSV-TKR, you have left out the TKR factor completely. What was that at 27:25? Why are you dragging the legends KVM & SPB here? I did not understand, can anyone explain?

    • @vinayak4201
      @vinayak4201 6 років тому +2

      Dear Sir,
      The topic in hand is MSV the tunesmith... The tunes were all composed by him therefore it's about him.
      As far as the point that you didn't understand: it's is a nuanced one. A composer creates the necessary score - to suit the needs of the movie the demands of which need not necessarily confirm to " pure' music making.. the reference to KVM and SPB is not dragging but an example of such an instance in the movie Shankarabharanam when they had to do what otherwise they wouldn't.

    • @BC999
      @BC999 5 років тому +1

      Ramesh sir, This is a madam here. Nice to see your reply. I may not understand the nuances in music. I was not talking about the nuance. I was only saying you drag other legendary names unnecessarily, in here . But I could only get a sense of sarcasm, pulling others' legs to show them in slightly lower light than MSV sir. That's all my concerns were about. Thank you. I adore your "enna idhu" song & "vizhigalin aruginil vaanam song".

      @@BC999 once again with due respect sir, you should see contexts. Comparisons are part of music criticism which is a subject in music literature. (Truly Criticism means objective analysis. That’s not a bad word as people have generally assumed)
      Music criticism is almost non existent in India. In western music it’s through comparison of works of masters that music will understood theorised analysed enjoyed and studied. There is no “dragging” of any kind in this.
      I wish we grow out of our traditional thought process and be more open. This is a request.
      Since I have personally known all the three greats (MSV SPB and Ilaiyaraja) they will only welcome serious analysis.
      The “Sarcasm” you have mentioned is purely your imagination, with all due respects.
      And Thank you very much sir for your kind words about my songs. Pranams.
