Gonna try out a wide variety of lesser known games this week. All of them may be amazing, or none of them may be. These are planned to be one-off videos, unless any of the games gets a widely positive reception. Enjoy!
Dev here, thanks for trying the game! This was really fun to watch :D It is quite a short game, so if you do another episode, it'll probably be the last one (unless you decide to do the optional secrets...)
We didn't even see anything from the touch section. It's nice that you think it's uninteresting and repetitive and it may well be for you, but we didn't even see a single puzzle so puzzles we thought may be interesting don't even get showcased. By all means edit out him walking between areas because those are not puzzles. The editing was overboard here, we missed like half the game.
Yeah, I mean, it's a game about 5 senses, and even if the touch section would leave me disappointed, I still wanted to see at least the concept they came up with.
I mean, it is pretty hard to stimulate your sense of taste or smell with a computer. Maybe the sense of touch could work if you had a controller and it needed vibration, but I can't see any other way for it. Only sight and hearing really works here.
@@Rogeryoo That is true with a computer. But did you know a few theaters used to release certain smells during the movie? They stopped because it was cost prohibitive
On the one hand the puzzles in this game seemed a tad repetitive and memory based, but I also really like the interconnectedness of the levels, it's almost baba-esque in a way, and the theming is cool if maybe not executed that well in how the puzzles play. I think overall this might be more fun to play then to watch, but also I watch for you, so I wouldn't complain on more of this game
Really didnt like that a whole section was cut, i understand that several puzzles arent shown because it gets repetetive in that section, but at least show us the basic of how the section worked? I couldnt even decide if the red section was uninteresting or not because i dont even know what you had to do.
Dont want to be rude but I dont enjoy cutting out this much content, I really like to see all the puzzles and your thoughts in them. It seems like alot of others in the comments agree, if you want to keep cutting things like this could you make a second channel where you upload the videos unedited?
What a well designed tutorial format it feels like it could have been the entire game. The "taste" mechanic was a little underwelming but idk what i was honestly expecting.
Yeah, i expected that to be the end, and credits roll. Like a small short and sweet single-video indie game. But when tyler said "i think that's just the tutorial" i'm now very intrigued how long this game really is
I like how it almost tricks you into thinking you can still rely on the visual cues it gives you and not focusing on taste. But I think it still basically is just a visual puzzle filtered through a gimmick.
"hmm... I'm getting notes of...... Left left left up up left left up right right right down right right... No, wait. Right down up up! Exquisite. Such a subtle palette."
In recent videos it seems like you've been trying to keep the pace extremely fast. Why'd you skip, like, all the non-memorization parts of the sound AND taste sections? "Mixing" was the whole point of the taste section. Also I really liked the touch section :(
Yeah, I've never played this game, but I'd at least be interested in seeing more of it than what was shown. I get cutting stuff out due to tedium but it felt like so much was chopped, and we didn't get to even see the touch section really
Ya, I really didn't like this. If I wasn't down to watch someone solve sometimes boring puzzles I wouldn't be watching this channel. I also can skip ahead myself if I want... even if they would've zoomed through the boring sections instead of just skipping them then making it confusing later when the big smell puzzle needs to be solved and we didn't even see a whole section at all.
This feels like The Witness Especially since the only explanation I can think of for why it's called "The Witness" is that it's about perception EDIT: I mean, the main similarity is the wires everywhere
@@NStripleseven Simple, you have a series of 'flavor pellets' or whatever nonsense you want to name them. You establish that certain flavors are related to certain directions, then you give the series of flavored pellets in order to provide that piece of the map. "This one tasted like a lemon! Left. LEFT FOR LEMON"
The idea for this game seems so cool but I think the fact that it's limiting itself to each sense is making it difficult to design good puzzles. In The Witness you had similar sound and visual sections and those worked really well. I feel like all the sections that didn't work were mostly senses that you don't actually use when playing a game. I like the theme, but I don't think it's a theme that translates well. Also: including every sense in a game is one of the best ways to make your game inaccessible to a lot of people 😂
@@SpencerTwiddy Uh, but some people can't. That's what accessibility is all about. Most people have full use of their legs, but we still have ramps and lifts for those who don't. Accessibility for games is similar, for instance if you're deaf you can't do the cat meow one or the dark room at the end of the hearing segment. Most of the rest of hearing had panels lighting up though.
I mean, a person with no taste or smell isn't affected in any way in this game and don't think not having a sense of touch is even possible. A blind person isn't going to play this, but a visually impaired might, though the puzzles don't require being able to see well, just see at all. The light one had help for colourblind people, after all. The only people that would be affected in a realistic way is for deaf people.
@@Rogeryoo The smell area is probably not doable for people with colorblindness though. The only sense in this case that wouldn't stop you from playing is feeling or smell. Besides, it was more of a joke than anything lmao
@@martijnp ah, sorry, the joke went over my head. I also just saw the parts Tyler showed, and only the first one had colour, but they also had different shapes, so it equaled. But now that I think about it, the smell area is also impossible, since you wouldn't see what colours of "smell" correspond to what, so oops.
I like the shorter more highlights style videos like this. I like being able to get a sense of a bunch of games instead of long videos or series on every single one. Plus if I deside I want to play I don't know the answer to every single puzzle haha
You may have seen this, but I believe Logic Car could be a fun game for you to try. It has a similar objective to Poly Bridge but you "code" the car to get across the gap.
The AND gates are specifically designed to mimic AND gates in diagrams, which is cool. For whatever reason, NOT gates in this game aren't the same way.
The puzzles here almost felt like the Witness to me- things in some areas opening up other areas through knowledge (and the little antennas that you'd light up by completing an area, as well.) Interesting, that in the lack of being able to reproduce taste, smell, and touch, that they would choose to *invoke* those sensations instead. When in the taste area I felt myself being able to picture the taste of blueberry, lemon and lime that it showed. Same with the C A K E.
13:35 Anyone else realise that this is a better designed version of the Selenitic Age subway puzzle from Myst? I vividly remember playing that game a while back.

I really wanna see you play more of this!

This tastes like T R I A N G L E
you know you just played Myst when you say "you can walk off platforms in this game"
Also The Witness
This game looks like it was designed by the team behind antichamber, which Tyler should play if he hasnt
@@bencersparney3654 I recall Tyler playing Antichamber and disliking it, which I was sad about.
@@bencersparney3654 this design looks very similar to Manifold Garden.

I love Tyler, always making puzzles more complicated by not using the game mechanics
Well color theory isn't super complicated
what color puzzle?
@@EvanG529 adding colora isn't, but real color theory is complicated because human senses made no sens

I just remembered a really cool game that I think you'd love - Antichamber
Would love to see you give it a try
1:20 Scrap Mechanic calls them 'NAND' and 'NOR' gates - they are just the opposite of AND and OR gates.
Ive studies 2 years of logic to learn that the N in NOR and NAND stand for not xD
The thing that switches the value is an invertor not a nand or nor gate
@@milvanis Erm... if you mean one input and its negation as an output, that's a NOT gate in logic.
If both inputs are true then true = and
If either is true then true = or
If one is true but not both = xor
Outputs the opposite = not
