This movie was made right after The Giant Behemoth and the director's kid was upset because the military killed the monster, so he set to work making this movie in a somewhat hurried manner Ogra is indeed the name of the adult and it is indeed supposed to be Gorgo's mother, however they used the exact same monster suit for the mother and youngster, just different sized sets. Ogra is named after an in-universe legendary sea serpent known to the people on Nara Island which is why the boy keeps telling them that they ran into Ogra since she'd be far more terrifying for a diver to run into than the youngster.

You should review "Konga." It's a schlocky King Kong ripoff to be sure, but what makes it stand out is that is predates the '76 remake. A small tidbit of trivia: In addition to being released the same year as "Gorgo" (with some theater proprietors whipping up some ridiculously false advertising that depicted Gorgo fighting Konga, ala King Kong vs Godzilla), both films were adapted into comic book series published by Charlton Comics, and illustrated by none other than Spider-Man co-creator Steve Ditko.
Wish they would of made more Gorgo movies with Gorgo fighting monsters, would love to see Legendary get the rights and bring Gorgo to monsterverse, love to see what a updated version of Gorgo would look like in monsterverse.
I'm stuck on the artwork -- Dalek, flaming TARDIS, Mary Poppins, Brandon about to drop a teacup, some guy with a bloodied cricket bat, and whoever that is in the head rag. Looks like my kind of party. No wonder my British cousins don't come to the US often, but insist we go there...
Wait, if this is set off the coast of Ireland, why doesn't anyone but the kid have an Irish accent? They all sound American... unless the director _genuinely_ thinks all Americans are descended from the Irish.
Nice shot of the Friendly Giant. Even though he is considered Canadian, he got his start at the local PBS station in Madison, Wisconsin. I remember watching him during the 50s.
One of my favorites from childhood. Saw it on TV about 3 years after its 1961 release. I'd read that Eugene Lourie's daughter cried when the Beast From 20.000 Fathoms died from the radioactive isotope fired into its wounded neck so he decided the monsters should survive at the end of "Gorgo". I think he also wanted to make a statement about the arrogance of humankind thinking it can always exploit and dominate nature's creatures. Not only did Ogra take everything humans threw at her but she showed them her fury was indomitable and trashed a great city and defeated all of modern technology to retrieve her stolen son. If that's not a slap at human intolerance of the rights of God's other creatures, I don't know what it is. "Gorgo" may look cheesy at times but its powerful message still resonates today, even though it came largely before the modern animal rights movement we know in recent and current times. Your review was funny but you acknowledged it's a good film. 👍

Raymond Hamill an annoying, usually unnecessary child in a giant monster movie.
That also has all sorts of info he has no business knowing
♫Every country, has a Kenny♫
Wish they would of made more Gorgo movies with Gorgo fighting monsters, would love to see Legendary get the rights and bring Gorgo to monsterverse, love to see what a updated version of Gorgo would look like in monsterverse.
Omg legendary studios needs to buy the rights for gamera gorgo and King Kong and put them in the Godzilla universe
And also the rhedosaurus, reptilicus , and giant claw
Victoria Hane yes yes and last 1 idk lol not too sure about that.
+Chuckfan 47 And some beasties from Lovecraft's mythos. How would Godzilla vs. Cthulhu look on the big screen?
+Victoria Hane The anti-matter bird versus the radioactive lizard!
Theres a new Godzilla vs king kong getting made.
As a person from England, this is by far the best kaiju film the country has ever produced. And it's not crap like Queen Kong or Konga.
The cricket bat would be Sean of the Dead and the guy with the rag is from Monty Python. :)
Anton Lindblad Thank you.
There's some really cool visuals when adult Gorgo goes on a rampage in the city.
04:41. Also, there was that self-medication controversy thing... :P
I like your reviews but this one was your best I seen so far. Very funny.
Wait, if this is set off the coast of Ireland, why doesn't anyone but the kid have an Irish accent? They all sound American... unless the director _genuinely_ thinks all Americans are descended from the Irish.
Four years late but the kid... doesn't have an Irish accent either.
I doubt that because then he would have to admit that a bunch of Irish people are stronger and has more influence than them.
Yep I saw Monty Python in the beginning. My absolute favorite comedy team.
Gotta love British knock off Godzilla. Love all the British icons in the artwork
Where are the Thunderbirds when you need them?!
I think you'll find the G.I.Joe division is called Action Force over here. :P
I remember renting this from Hollywood video, watched it twice without ever finishing it.
you should review godzilla 2000
this was the best apocalypse now review ive ever watched
Isn't Gorgo technically an Irish monster and not British?
No wonder it went on a rampage in London.
I only mentioned that because i'm an American with Irish ancestors.
He doesn't seem very Irish, he's not asking people "What *Bar* is Godzilla?" or something.
Ryan it was made by Britain
Ryan Ireland’s part of Great Britain, at least the top bit so he’s British
"I'll bet they probably forgot to include an attractive lady in the movie too."
Well duh it takes place in the UK.
If it’s Irish, technically it’s a Kilkenny...
I’ll see myself out.
...is it possible to perform a rimshot on bagpipes?
Next thing you no there’s gonna be a German Godzilla because come on gorgo has to be inspired by Godzilla
Scotland has the Loch Ness monster.
England has Gorgo
5:04
The guy on the left tho... you'll see it if you pause it there.
Nice shot of the Friendly Giant. Even though he is considered Canadian, he got his start at the local PBS station in Madison, Wisconsin. I remember watching him during the 50s.
Speaking of which review the doctor who and the daleks movies there's 2 movies
doctor who and the daleks
And
Daleks invasion earth 2150ad
It’s kinda sad not a lot of these monster movies from other countries didn’t turn into franchises cause some of them have real potential
Godzilla Final War
Chandler Adams In case you don’t know already did it
The Monster Buddies I mean, he posted this 4 years ago...
Schindler's list.
At 5:27 when it shows the kid yelling the monsters name, is that drums in the background or the monster laughing.
u know gorgo is like a giant sea horse right ❓
seadragon more likely
Their males are the ones that get pregnant and have the babies. So maybe was the dad that came to get his baby.
Identical
18:53 “the story is pretty original...” Well that is unless you read the 1922 short story by Greene and Lovecraft “The horror at martins beach.”
One of the crew of the ship that captured gorgo was actor William Sylvester who later played Heywood Floyd in 2001 a Space Odyssey.
Ireland is famous for its offshore volcanoes.
Aye; it’s the Indonesia of the North Atlantic 😁
Howard worked under Harryhausen and one could argue just as skilled with stop motion
