That was my First place i was sent to also Chicago . I vowed never to go back I had to back down Alley at midnight across 4 lanes never again. You did great job . Im also female been driving for 13 yrs , its tough at times . Never get in a hurry ! No freight is worth accident even if its small.

I know exactly where you picked up from. Chicago is my hometown and I learned how to drive a truck in town. After awhile you get used to it and it’s no big deal.

Chicago is my hometown and you did an excellent job backing in all that confusion, lots of patience. Four wheelers in the Chi are some of the worst drivers, they don’t follow the rules of the road, they make up their own rules as they drive around so be careful. You were in Melrose Park, IL which isn’t very far from me. My family is from NC and many of them are truckers so I understand and give you guys much respect. Stay safe!!!🙏🏾🙌🏾👏🏾👍🏾

Boy oh Boy! The so called Professional Backer’s. I wonder how Many Of them Clip some one’s Mirrors or Fenders. I remember when I First Started backing up years ago. I bet you they Couldn’t Back into a warehouse in Brooklyn, New York. That Has a Width of 90-96 Inches that was Built back in the Early 1920’s where you had to Fold in your Mirrors.

Car must yield for oncoming traffic even if that traffic is turning right. School bus is doing exactly what they should be doing. 4 wheelers doin stupid stuff as per usual.
Two lanes allow for a car to turn left and right at the same time. By law you have to go to to closest lane, the car didn't have to freak out and illegally cut the turn.. but it did so because it was planning on illegally going straight to the right lane.. so the car driver just can't drive that well.
10:00 minutes into this video, for those who comment 'bout something being easy, l didn't hear you say they did a back in at this location easier, have them show you the video, and as far as the near accident between the turning car and school bus, the car is suppose to turn into the left lane and the bus into the right lane, but the bus has to swing wide anyway.

I don't answer phone calls when I'm about to bump a dock, especially when it's in a shit hole kinda deal like this. You need to be in the right head space to deal with the task at hand. I had one of those same peterbilts and the wheelbase is worst than 2 hookers that ain't been paid so I feel ya pain.
May I suggest something. For a dock like that, you can use a 90 degree backing maneuver. I would explain it here, but I believe that there are some videos on UA-cam about it. If you have the time, practice doing it in an empty lot. Just like other backings, this may take you a few times to get right. It’s worth it at the end to have this skill in your back pocket.

I went to Blue Island on one of my first trips out as an OTR driver and that was quite the experience, I didn't have to back in off the streets at least thankfully. I did stop on a street looking for a way to the delivery place and I did go down a road with a 10 foot clearance tunnel 🤣 but to be fair they put the sign where you couldn't see it from the street and they had cleared an area and put rocks so trucks could turn around 😵💫 why they don't put the sign out by the street is beyond me that would probably help more! I left OTR shortly after for a city job.
Reefer pays good money but, them wait times sucks @ times. Especially Walmart DC loads.😢
I didn't see anything wrong, after 32+ years out here,i still pull up as much as i need,as long as you get it in the dock with no damage, thats all that counts. You're doing fine.
