I found out that a topless thimble is a tailor's thimble. I love your channel, my husband was a rubbage picker back in the 70's and 80's. We lacked for nothing. I believe in reusing and upcycling what we can. I commend you for doing just that and sharing it with us.😊
Love your channel, it’s one of very few decent mudlarking videos on UA-cam. Most of the others just don’t hit the mark when it comes to quality content, well filmed/edited videos and diversity. Your passion for the hobby shines out, like you’re really enjoying yourselves unlike so many that seem to have lost that energy and are clearly doing it for the “likes” and 💰
Happy bead day! That's a really nice haul. I have to tell you something kind of funny that happened the other day. I was listening to a person reading Three men in a boat, and the narrator of the book was musing over how the every day trinkets of today become the treasure of tomorrow. And he was wondering if in the year 2000-something, would their old willow pattern plates be highly valued possessions of the rich people? Would the ugly white porcelain dog on his mantelpiece, minus its legs and tail, some day be dug up and become someone's treasure? The book was first published in 1889. And here I am, 135 years later, thinking that, yes I know a couple of Northern Mudlarks that would love finding those things! It felt so strange to sit here all these years later, and actually have an answer to a question that was asked so long ago.
I love watching you too gals find your little treasures are used to hunt Indian arrowheads in freshly plowed fields and like you said a good rain come along and wash the dirt off the surface rocks made them easier to fine. I found tomahawks spearheads totally clear arrowhead red arrowheads. Unfortunately my legs are shot now I can’t walk but I got good memories. Thanks for sharing your heart with me.❤😊
I watched the Lost Towers video this morning and recommended you needed to get out to a beach. I’m glad you went to the river again for all the treasures that were waiting for you. Never a dull moment.
Your shows are my favorites! I have recommended them to others. I don't know what I would do without them. So relaxing and beautifully filmed, with lovely music and exciting treasure hunting and adventures, and of course, schwoos.
Fantastic another vid. I share the excitement with you both when you find good stuff . You are 2 lovely people and deserve some happiness. Which you share with others by means of your vids. Thank you for sharing Gail & Alex.
What a beautiful collection of treasures! ❤ look forward to your next crafting video love watching you two make jewlery keep up the good work, all the best B&B.
Love the tailors thimble! My favorite type to use in quilting. The gate post hinge is blacksmith made. Great find! The fishing weights are interesting too.
Fancy finding so many beads and keys all together...yes indeed. I do fancy actually. I think groups of anything is because someones home has had a clear out. Maybe after someone passing. Draws full of bits and bobs just put in the bin. There's only so much some folk can stand to do. What you and i would treasure, just gets put in the bin. Along with so called junk jewelry. You'd think there would be more beads found together. It's a very interesting site to go larking by that river. You always seem to find lots of different and interesting bits and bobs there. The keys were quote amazing really. Someones treasured collection. Thanks for taking us along. Always enjoyable. 😊x
The twisted wire might be a brush of either wire or soft bristles. The brass item you mentioned might be for gas, is actually a valve stem to put air into an inner tube for a tire.
What an interesting batch of treasures, who would guess you would find keys from those glorious old cars, especially that Jaguar !! Sadly, they all look alike now. Beads and bobs, another fun day with you both, glad you got time off from work ! Love and hugs 🥰🥰 xx
I think the corkscrew pin you found may have been the driving pin from a childs humming top. I seem to remember one like this from my childhood where you had to frantically pump the handle up and down to produce that wonderful humming noise from the top.
Wow that haul is amazing, what a treat to find so many beads, keys and other treasures. Beautiful day out on the river, take care and thank you for sharing your trip with us 👏🙏❤️ see you on the next one 👍
Hello 👋 from New York USA, you guys found some amazing finds. My favorite find was the padlock.🔐 and classic car keys 🔑 Thank you for bringing me along with you. I can't wait to see where you go and what you find next ☺️
Beads and keys what a haul 👏👏. A must repeat spot for more lovely lavender beads. The twisted wire reminds me of the children’s tin spinning top. You would push up and down on that piece to get the spin in motion.
The topless thimble is something I used in my younger years when I was obsessed with maintaining my rather long manicured nails. I now use it when sewing sequins and beads onto material. (I need my nail exposed in order to tease out a particular item from the pile)
Awesome again ladies 😊 loved the melted blue bottle, the sharks tooth, I found a few weeks ago , turned out 2 b over 15 thousand years old ,found a napped glass spear point 😮, taking it 2 the museum to find out more about it 😊 .Happy larking from Australia Nick 🇦🇺
All those finds look like the things that were in my Nanny’s top bureau drawer. After she passed away, we all took a few little things out of there. Just mementos of times gone by . . . Brilliant lark!
Hello Gail and Alex! That was a fun adventure, so many treasures just waiting to be found. I was shocked at all the beads and keys...wow, how amazing. And definitely can't forget about that silver chain hiding in the bank...great find as well. I think I've asked before but is the "field of dreams" still there? That was a awesome place for hidden treasures too. if so, will y'all ever go back? Give the Shwoo's some love for me and have a nice day...Big hugs from Texas!!🥰😁🤩😍
Great find. That one item you don't know what it is. Now this is just a guess. It could be a whisk. For my step-grandmother had one in her kitchen. It was a homemade whisk. I believe it had 4 wires, bent in half, wrapped real tight, but before the end of the wires, they were spread out. My grandpa made it for her. I love antiques in Old homemade vintage things.
Definitely a discarded. ‘Bits & Bobs’ box. I bought one of these from a sale of items from an old Convent, and it was filled with lots of keys amongst other random stuff.
It's quite amazing those keys outlasted the actual cars they belonged too 😂 those beads are beautiful btw would look amazing as window light catchers 😊
Will say that bit of twisted wire that you found I believe is very much like the handle of a fly swatter... very old school one. My great grandma had such a thing...
@@NorthernMudlarks Dear lovely Ladies. 😚 Aaaaw, thank you very much for every one of those 4 hearts. I almost blushed! 😁 ;-) Here are two 💚💚 4U. Green ones of course because I absolutely love nearly anything that is green. Best regards, luck and health in particular. To both of you of course.
Interesting story behind the first key you talked about. You will notice on the boot/trunk of the car the SS symbol. The jaguar cars were known as SS cars for swallow sidecars where the company had its beginning's pre WW2 but when production started again in 1945 for obvious reasons of Nazi SS association the SS was dropped and they became know as jaguar. So definitely a rear and neat find!
That small decorative key looks like one that use to come with diaries that were all the rage before the 1960’s! So many wonderful little treasures! ❤❤❤
What a beautiful day for a mudlark! So many lovely little treasures, you may have found a whole bracelet & I wonder if any of those keys you found go to the few locks you found?Lovely lark ladies!

The ring with twisted wire, it looks like a bottle cleaner without the brush! Great video!!
Many thanks for NOT doing the new trend ‘live’ videos ☮️🦋💜 so many beads👍

That's Jerome K. Jerome, isn't it? "Three Men in a Boat (to Say Nothing of the Dog.)" It's so funny!
@@patriciapines8884 Indeed it is! Hilarious book, makes me actually laugh out loud from time to time.
I love when Gail finds something she loves and she says "I love it".

It’s remarkable that you are finding so many things that go together.
Your finds clean up to be so beautiful! I love, love, love the beads!
I kind of have OCD. I’m on pins and needles until that bedroom and fireplace get finished on your other channel. That’s for the treasure hunt. ❤

Lovely lark Ladies. Lots of pretty beads and shiny metal with Mudlarking Charlotte still hiding in the finds. Thanks, have a wonderful week.
Lovely beads! I think that metal arch thing Alex discarded looked like a stirrup for riding horses!

I love the way Alex pronounces “hoooook” ❤
Enjoyed the video ladies alot of interesting pieces 😊
Love the keys and the flower beads
That L-shaped thing looks a bit like a doorstop. It’s so fun to see your finds with the tiny doll hiding among them.
Love the colorful beads !✌🏼🌻✌🏼🌻
Fab finds today ladies, my favourite is those beautiful beads, certainly a day for finding beads and keys, tfs x Julie
The thing with the beaded bit of chain looks like part of a chain pull for ceiling lights or fans.
Lovely to see you ladies outside.❤
Purple beads💜
Love the keys too! Great bead finds. Good day away from chores ladies.
Fab hunt ladies I love the beads 😊xx
Love your mudlarking videos! I keep checking your makers channel hoping to see what you make of the bits that you find.❤❤

Beads and keys what a haul 👏👏. A must repeat spot for more lovely lavender beads. The twisted wire reminds me of the children’s tin spinning top. You would push up and down on that piece to get the spin in motion.
I'm a key collector and loved your keys. Hope you keep yours. ❤

The topless thimble is something I used in my younger years when I was obsessed with maintaining my rather long manicured nails. I now use it when sewing sequins and beads onto material. (I need my nail exposed in order to tease out a particular item from the pile)
I think that corkscrew would make a cute swing from a tree with one you home made dolls swinging inn it!
Awesome finds! Beads, beads, beads 😊, silver chain is a bonus...hopefully you go.back and find more ❤❤.

Wonderful finds and you ladies do an amazing job cleaning them up.
12:07 That poor padlock just wants you to bring it home XD Next time give it a chance, please!!
So many beautiful beads.
The corkscrew reminds me of the ends of the cleaning brushes that we use to clean glassware in a lab!
I THINK YOURE RIGHT!!
Gail, I thought you said key and bidet for a moment! (Instead of key and bead day). Love your spoonerisms, Alex. You inspire me to practice more!
Lovely treasures, all!
great video gail and alex , its was a beads madness day xx
Those car keys are fascinating and I can imagine them being sought after. I think the picture hangers are somewhat 'classy'. Thank you for uploading.
In high school, one of the boys had an old DeSoto we used to ride around in. It was great fun.
Congrats on the silver chain. If you ladies ever need some material for crafting, let me know. Best wishes. MB.
This looked like a fun river adventure. The twisted wire with the ring on the end looks like a tensioner for a wire fence.
Some awesome beads and bits of metal and all the other things you found

Love the beads...and the keys should hang on an antique hook. Mine look great!
Love the beads!
Great finds!
You ladies are such a great team!❤
You could possibly sell those keys to some classic car fanatic. Very interesting find, and good research as usual.
Another fab vid ladies 😊 I think the twisted metal thing is the handle end of a toasting fork that possibly perished/burned over time and broke xx
I love all the finds. Especially, the Brass cleanups. Good job, girls! 🥰
Great find.
