When I was in 2nd grade, the teacher had to barricade me in a corner so I could see her, the caulk board, but not the rest of the class. I was that disruptive. My mom pulled me from public school and put me on a rigorous regime of homeschool, working the family compound, and grandma and grandpa’s farm. I went back in Jr. High, was immersed in sports and academics. I worked 7 days per week until I hit 50. I don’t regret it, it was a way of coping, using my weaknesses as a strength. 50 dang years! I did a lot too. Holy cow. But the bottom line, it will catch up to you. My 4 oldest… the only way they knew me at all was by working with me. I’m 53 now, and lost my wife to ALS, but my kids are my best friends. I’m still dad, don’t take me wrong, but we do so many things just for fun now. Find balance, I cannot stress that enough. If my wife wouldn’t have gotten sick, I’m not sure how long I would have lived. I would have probably dead by age 60. I still might, but not from working myself to death.
