to me , nike buying back stock now seems like management is smart , they are just constantly buying back instead of at peaks , like some management teams do. so ill give them that , if they return to growing this might have a good return
Thing is, its just the elite and newbies who wear Nike. Core runners wear other brands like hoka, saucony, on, etc. Go to any running club in the world - almost zero nikes.
I don't see why a shoe and sports apparel company should be trading at tech company multiples. 🤷♂️ At a P/E of 15 with current EPS, it's a $50 stock, but it's currently trading at 21 P/E with a forward P/E of 27, so EPS is projected to decline.
Thanks for the great analysis as usual! I've got an interesting pick for you. Halliburton for exposition to the energy sector. They're drilling for all the major oil and gas companies. Low PE, low debt, increasing FCF, increasing dividend yield.
Hello Sven, I read your book and i have to say its pretty good. I was wondering when you want to look at the CAPE (Cyclical Adjusted PE) indicator do you calculate it manually or you know of some source where shows it for a given company? Cause i look for it but is nowhere to be found
no source, I just look at the last 10 years if I wish it for company, but it is not really useful for specific stocks as it shows the past, while investing is about the future www.multpl.com/shiller-pe
Sven, don't know if you've made a video on this already, but why do so many in finance use volatility as a measure of risk, as opposed to seeing price relative to fundamentals and qualitative factors as the main way to measure risk? I don't understand how volatility of stock prices can really tell us anything about long term risk of an investment. If I buy a good appartment at a very cheap price, and the price moves a lot, I still own a good apartment at a cheap price regardless of price movements.
Hi Sven, love your videos! Could you please make an update on your views on Chinese stocks? Alibaba in particular since it's like the bellwether of consumer confidence in China. It seems that once Trump won the election, this stock has been plummeting as many investors are fearing Trump's tariffs on China. What are your views? Still a buy?
have you considered collaborating with Fastgraphs? Would be a really nice added value to your videos to add one screenshot of fastgraphs of the stock you are talking about ;-)
@@Value-Investing I am sure Chuck would be open for it. There's a lot of Dutch contentmakers using his tool. It is amazing and so is Chuck! Perhaps you could do a Q&A with him and exchange perspectives on value investing? That would be a blast to see you two together ;-)
Ackman said his fund bought Nike stock the 2nd of July 2024. He could’ve made a 16% profit but now the stock is trading at the same price it did when he bought it. It seems he messed up his analysis and it’s begging for someone to buy his error.
Hi Swen, thanks for your research. You always make in-depth analysis and good remarks on the stocks. You have a great knowledge of the market. But one thing I don't understand: why do you always pick stocks with low ROE and ROIC? For example, I just bought Hims stock with a current market cap below 5 bln, current earnings 100 mln and next year around 500 mln. Huge growth potential. It is value, and also growth. I made its analysis on my UA-cam channel. Also you never tell the ingredients of your own portfolio. Would be interesting to see. Thanks!
"The club didn't mention any figures, but Mundo Deportivo and outlets including Culemania have reported that Barca will receive $1.82 billion (€1.7 billion) from Nike over 14 seasons at an average of around $129.5 million (€121 million) per year." This new sponsorship deal sounds pretty crazy
Hello Sven, informative as always :) Saw your video of Austrian stocks, followed some of the stocks and I've seen AT&S stock is down significantly lately, goldman sachs buying into it, what's going on there? I am seriously thinking on taking a big position in the company since it does seem severly undervalued for a circuit board manufacturer of scale, they have plenty of carrer options available, so i am guessing times are not at all hard, beyond a problem of finding all the right people.
I lost respect for him when covid hit. He shorted the market then went on CNBC and forced some tears to push his narrative. Then promptly bought back in later. He's slippery. Politics fits him. By the way he sold his Netflix position at 225 a share. Few remember that.
Bill Ackman brought long ago when Sven said Nike is not a buy in Apr 6, 2024 expensive bla bla bla all kind of negative🤮, now Sven said is a buy like live time opportunity LOL
where did Sven say that Nike is a great buy? It is 22% down since my April video, but I didn't say it is a livetime opportunity, just a relative buy compared to the market ;-)
I'll never stop saying it. We do not deserve Sven. Thank U

just watched the New York Marathon and the top 3 finishers were wearing the new Nike Alpha fly's. Nike is the number 1 brand in running right now
Okay, I will buy a new runner from Nike... 👍

I sold bike this year at a small loss after watching it lose its way over the last five years. Can’t wait for a turnaround forever.
I buy some at 73 usd but it’s not so cheap. Maybe if new ceo do good Job and growth. I Hope it Drops at 68 or lower
Yes is a technical buy. Or is very near. I bought two times.
Is the best sportwear by far. None is the same as nike, zilch nothing.
Great report, Sven. Thank you, Sir. I hold Nike. Down about 20%. C'est la vie... I will hold it despite knowing it's dead money for ~4 quarters.
Same as me...

thanks for suggesting!
I will see after drop 68 , Muchas gracias excelente informe

Didnt Buffett say he would never buy a shoe business?
Not just shoes they have clothing to which is almost as popular

The decline in the popularity of the NBA could spell trouble for Nike.
I don’t understand what are the differences between a Nike tshort and other non-brand tshort. But the price is much expensive
I just bought my first and quite a heavy position in Nike last month as a contrarian play.

It's worth to put it on the watchlist Sven.. but without earnings guidance i'm not touching it, unless it goes 10% under the summer lows...

I like the TIKR spreadsheet! More tools really increase the value of the video
What do you think about Danish shipping company TORM plc (TRMD), at 2,91 PE now
It looks decent, but it just doesn't suit younger investors. I can see it rallying 10% to match average returns in the future.

Marketing overpriced apparel to poorer segments of society seems to have some risk when the poor are getting squeezed.
U would think so. But poor people would rather look rich than eat sometimes.
I sold Nike and bought Lulu two months ago
Wouldn’t bother unless PE is 10. Goddamn retail
what about payfare? It is 70% down YTD
Conagra looks quite interesting at the moment, maybe have a look at it, Sven?
I'll consider it a bargain if stock goes below 45

It is strange. AT&S was shorted but recently the short positions were reduced. Still the stock went down double digits.
