Novak is an inspirational guy
He speaks great Russian , thanks to Sharapova
I wouldn't be surprised, it would be fun to have a Russian conversation with Djokovic. Are there any links that I can listen to?
Look at djokovic man, so inspirational
And Roger Federer speaking 7 languages:

Must say international guy too 🙃😂
Damn... Many of us can't even pronounce his last name correctly...
Cuz you are not from serbia its izi say djokovic
@@zlatanvelic7548 Obviously.
@@asfris4911 look at novak.. he look a arab gypsy like many serbians these wannabe "slavs"
Its like this milos djokovich
It's dyokovich
I was very surprised with his Spanish and Italian, he definitely likes learning languages.
I´m spanish, so i can tell you that he does not speak spanish very well. In fact, his spanish is very poor.
@@Still472 se le entiende más que a un vasco o chileno xd
@@Still472 i m italian and he speaks very well my language
i do agree that he's spanish is not that good, but for someone like him, whose mother toungue is not spanish its basically good yeah? I myself understand spanish but i never been to Spain. just livin here in the Philippines.
Still472 At least he’s trying
Love him or hate him you can't deny that he's an all around super talent.
You don't need talent for speaking languages, it's learning by heart...
@@LuLu-nw6bi Here in the west we only know English. The rest goes in one ear and out the other.
@@LuLu-nw6bi Your attitude is probably like that, because you don't know what the word talent means.
if you HATE NOVAK YOU ARE THE TYPE THAT HATES JESUS CHRIST
@@WARGAMES-r7n You mean because Srdjan said Novak is Christ? 😄😄 Or wait, is this Srdjan?😅
Respect so much for his willingness to learn those languages...
Shows how intelligent he is, not only as a tactician on the tennis court.
He likes connecting with his audience.
True, what Nadal and Federer werent really able to accomplish @@MarkBH70
His IQ must be very high, that is why he is the craftiest tennis player ever.
Wow! He must love learning different languages; his smile tells it all.
People from former Yugoslavia had talents to learn a lot of languages and this is how I feel like! Maybe this is their attitude about life?
Bailey Chen, you're absolutely right.
I have met a lot great people from former YU and, unbeliveably, they speak a lot of language very, very fluent!
They are really tallented nation in many, many fields, not only for sport! By the way, in many sports, they are more than Kings!!
But ............
For istance ...Italians are speaking so, so terrible other languages...and Russian too!!
I heard it so many times!!
Melania Trump is also from former Yugoslavia, yet her only more or less decently spoken language (beside her native Slovene) is English - and when I say "more or less" I mean it is not exactly elegant or sofisticated. Maybe she did speak French and Italian well when she was working in France and Italy, but noawadays they clearly suck.
@@iva068 It very much depends on the concrete person and their individual abilities, attitudes and the opportunities they've had to learn languages. E. g. I am Russian, yet I have got seven working languages. I'm bilingual in Russian and German, since I moved to Germany when I was 9 years old. I speak and write fairly fluent English, as you can see for yourself (at least the writing part) and my other working languages are Italian, Spanish, French and Catalan, even though I don't get to practice them all with equal frequency. I've met fellow Russians with great Italian and French skills. So you cannot really generalise the way you do, "people from nation X are good at it", "people from nation Y are so-so" and "peoply from nation Z are terrible at it".
They just live in different countries as gastarbeiters and learn the local languages. (Like in Djoko's case.)
IT IS
Based on this video I'd rank his skills as follows:
1. Serbian
2. English
-- these two are native or on par, at least in the professional context
3. Italian
4. French
5. German
6. Spanish
--- the above are the languages in which he can have a conversation or improvise, with increasing difficulty --
7. Portuguese - he basically repeated what Kuerten said, but next he came up with a proper sentence
8. Arab, Chinese, Japanese - in these 3 he learned a few basic phrases by heart, but his effort to pronounce Chinese correctly speaks for his linguistic prowess!
His English is not native level... His native language is Serbian/Serbo-Croat(and he's not an eloquent speaker in his mother tongue).
Still, I’m impressed.
@@stephencindrich6787 Why?
German above French and Italian!
@stefanjovanovic9911 He doesn't speak Russian(just because his psycho wife says he does, it doesn't meant he actually speaks it).
Nowadays, his french is perfect
Not perfect, French is my first language. But I shall say that he is good. In German and latin languages too.
@@maca766 avez-vous vu ses interviews sur le plateau de France Télévision pendant Rolland Garros 2022 ? Je crois que c’était impeccable, il utilisait même des mots que je ne connaissais pas comme « une approche holistique ».
@@territill Please, even I can hear grammar and syntax mistakes, plus a heavy Slavic accent, and my French is poor. He was based in Monaco for over a decade, so his French should be solid in any case.
@@LuLu-nw6bi This month I heard him at Roland Garros and I noticed a big lack of practice, he is pretty bad today
I agree, saw him on French tv in a interview « C à vous », he speaks like a native, I was so positively surprised

Damn, he's truly inspirational athlete 👍
Here is a truth, he has a lot of free time and he also travels a lot, of course he is interested in learning languages, because there are football players who have played in a country for many years and never learned the local language.
He also speak so good russian. Fantastic man and great player!
Not only is Novak the world's best tennis player atm and potentially the GOAT,
He is also a linguistic genius.
He's not a "linguistic genius", he just lived in those countries and learned the local languages like many other uneducated gastarbeiters.
@@LuLu-nw6bi when did Novak lived in Italy?

I’m Italian (Bergamo Alto) and I’m impressed with how well he speaks it considering that Italian is one of the most difficult languages to properly speak. He does an excellent job, even better than most of my compatriots LMAO
You can all have an opinion of him what you want, but I just like him.He is a great tennis player, intelligent and funny with great charisma and charm.
For me, he is perhaps the most interesting tennis player of all time.
Marty...yessss...I absolutely share your feeling n opinion!

His skills are very impressive! He also eats plantbased and has a great sense of humour. 10/10.
Greatest athlete ever.
Ha una pronuncia incredibilmente ottima dell’italiano
He's a legend !!!!
Oh my God, as a native Arabic speaker, the last scene is so funny lmao 🤣
Trying to learn and communicate in the language of your host, in our tradition means respect. His Arabic is only 5 words, but he tries and he showed respect for Arabs :)
@@danielabogdanovska4612 I appreciate it. I didn't mean any disrespect 🙏 It's a nice gesture that he tries to communicate with the crowd with their language 😊
@@SabakuNoGaara2023 I know. That is why I replied... See, some people take things differently... Like, Nole is joking or trying to be disrespectful. Yes, he jokes, but his attempts to communicate with crowd on their own language is our way of showing respect, as much as sometimes sounds funny. It is not easy to speak on language which is so different from yours. But it is heart job.
Greetings!
What did hebsay actually. I understood "habibi" which is love as I remember and Quatar 😂
Now i love him more. 😍😍
He really speaks his native serbian, English (very well, btw), german, french, and spanish, which is already impressive. Italian he manages ok... the rest is just pronunciation, just for fun. But HE IS a funny person, a great champion full of joy, a nice and warm guy. Today's tennis legends are nice people, accessible, natural. Far from past stars like Lendl, Borg, Sampras, very closed and cold.
His italian is almost perfect,
I am italian and his italian is very good
Exactly, he's not fluent in 10 languages .. he gets by though
He speaks English, French and Italien quite well. Spanish and German soso but okay. I don't speak Serbian but it is his native language .
I'm here because I was surprised how good he speaks English and decided to Google him. I thought he grew up in an English speaking country but no. He's just talented. Btw I speak 8 languages fluently.
No1 Sportsman Of all times, all sports
Love you Djokovic
This just confirms that Novak is world class.
Wow, that was impressive. Kudos to Djokovic. It must please the nations he visits to hear him speak their language.
No wonder he and Kobe were good friends, they were geniuses on and off the court - and polyglots.
They were not geniuses, you don't need to be a genius to learn languages, it's mostly learing by heart(especially if you live in the environments where the languages are spoken, which was the case for those two and most of their languages learnt). They were good friends because they were both nasty people.

If you are born there you are lucky
If you are born everywhere, you can pretty much speak any language.
If you can speak serbian, than you can speak croatian, bosnian, slovenian, pretty easily, bulgarian, slovinian, czech, probalby not that hard, and then polish, Ukrainian, Russian, belorusian not to hard either
because Serbian is the mother of all other languages..

Very genius!👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Na realidade ele fala algumas línguas fluente (inglês francês, espanhol, italiano)e outras ele arranha(alemão, russo) e outras apenas algumas frases(chinês, japonês, português etc)
At 32, 10 languages psss damn I’m 21 and I speak 4 so I have to keep it track
Heck he could play in an exhibition match in Mars and probably speak Martian, incredible talent and great individual.
He really only speak English, Serbian, Italian and French at conversational level, the other ones he just dabble but nevertheless it's still very impressive. I can barely juggle 3
German Italian and bit of Spanish.
German is B2 level at least.
@@anonymousxxx9513 You must be kidding. The words he says are very basic, they are learnt at A1 level. And he doesn't even pronounce them fluently.
@@Boooboobo1990 In a conversation like this most natives would use "basic vocabulary" as well. He is fluent, he just has an accent and makes some small mistakes. An A1 speaker would typically not have been able to grasp all questions at the first go.
@@Boooboobo1990 Slavic languages have a very strong accent, I know many Slavic people that fully speak Romance or Germanic languages with correct grammar and vocabulary BUT with a still persistent Slavic accent (very hard to get rid of). I would still call it fluent, even against a heavy accent.
He seems so fluent in every language though some are broken we definitely can have a conversation.
¡Muy bien NOVAK!
All right Kim Novak😂😅
Richtige Serbe ❤️❤️❤️

His Spanish is not that bad. Pretty basic, but good pronunciation.
Spanish is much easier for Serbian native speakers to pronounce because there are a lot of similar sounds, unlike with some other languages. I think Greek too, but I'm not sure.

Awesome.
Very very basic (beginner) "MANDARIN" there are many languages in China.
He tried to say
Hi how are you etc etc
My 6 year old can say this.
Also, even more basic Japanese.

Although Japanese is a simple language, derived from mandarin, mandarin is subtle, has four different tones, with an emphasis on careful enunciation.

I can speak three languages but he's a legend! I definitely want to learn more
If you don't mind me asking, how did you learn other languages? Was it from school or all on your own? I'd like to learn German because my grandparents grew up speaking it and I know the simple words like thanks, please, goodnight, etc. Obviously I don't have anyone around me on the daily that speaks any german.

Atsushi Tobita can you say just bravo, someone show respect to me and to my dear country?
@@isidorastojanov5500 It is not disrespectful to say that Djokovic does not speak all the languages he speak equally well. His English is outstanding, his French, German and Italian are impressive, too (even if in Italian he struggles for words), but already his Spanish has got serious grammar flaws, while his Chinese is just basic (and with a noticeable accent), while his Arabic seems to consist only of some of the most frequently used words.
Overall, his linguistic skills are still far better than those of many people.
Djokovic is incredible. I wonder if Djokovic speaks other languages fluently as well such as Czech, Russian, Polish, Ukranian, etc.. does anybody know?
Steven Senegal That's pretty awesome, plus Serbian, Russian, Ukranian, Polish, Slovenian, Slovak, Czech, etc are all Slavic languages which make Serbian and Russian even more common. I believe I have seen a video of Djokovic speaking Russian but I am not too sure where to find it. Would be pretty awesome if he did speak Russian since that's my native language, but I'll forgive him if he doesn't, he already speaks lots of different languages haha.
he speaks italian and german fluently as he did his tennis school in germany
@You Tube Serbian and Russian have only seemingly identical words, they are pronounced the same but mean different stuff.. Russian is really tough to learn, they speak quite fast as well. I agree it's easier for us Serbs, but it's still hard..
@@Gligorije01 It's exactly the same with Polish and Russian.

Hurray for Serbs, but his Chinese is not quite....fluent. He says, roughly, 你好,中文,你好嗎?謝謝,大家吃了沒有?Hello, Chinese, hello, thank you, has everybody eaten? A good effort.
"Has everybody eaten" lmaoo

He gets by and manages to makes to transmit his message, but "very OK" is an exaggeration.
By the way, it seems that he has got some Catalan skills, too: "després" is the way the Catalans say it, "ahoy" is probably a contamination with "avui".

O homem é um Google tradutor humano
Obviously he does not speak all these languages at the same level. He speaks three to four main European languages fluently or with good understanding, able to understand and answer the questions. Asian languages - he just learned some words or phrases, but even that is a nice and polite gesture, I am sure his fans appreciated that. All in all, a great guy!
Native in 1, fluent in 4, semi-fluent in 2, limited ability in 1, and copycat in 2.
Overall, a linguistic genius.
My analysis:
Native (1) - Serbian: if you're not counting Croatian, Slovenian, etc as different languages
Highly fluent (3) - English, Italian and French: English is obvious and he studied Italian & French extensively
Semi-fluent (2) - Spanish and German: his Spanish is inferior than his Italian and French; his German seems okay for somebody that never lived in Germany and only had German coworkers
Limited ability (1) - Mandarin: this might be a reach (I only speak Spanish/Portuguese/English) but his Mandarin skills definitely seem above the "copycat level" where he only copies phrases. I think he definitely knows how to have a small conversation in Mandarin + he travelled to China a lot more than Portuguese/Japanese speaking countries
Copycat (3) - Portuguese, Arabic and Japanese: Arabic and Japanese he can only say a few phrases he just listened to; his Portuguese is also like this but the difference is this language shares a lot of similarities with Spanish and Italian (also French to an extent), so he could easily take this to a semi-fluent level with almost no effort
Then millions of people who learn the local language by living in the country are "linguistic geniuses"...
