@@Bon5oir kinda hard to be nostalgic with half of the games this generation that are half assed and only care about $. I guess there were always shit games but just seems more games these days miss the plot.
When I was 5 my grandpa introduced me to a amazing strategy game called praetorians. When I was 12 my friend introduced me to original stronghold. If it weren’t for these 2 people introducing me to these games I would probably be playing some garbage game and think it’s good.
Having grown up on Stronghold and crusader, I didn't think much about the stronghold games once they hit the 3D stage, but after playing it recently after buying it on steam, I have to say I'm very impressed. The is game is dated of course, and the 3D models don't hold up as well as sprites, but what's there is good. Voice acting for the most part is pretty damn good, as you would expect from the first 2 games. What blew my away was the atmosphere and the castle sim elements were absolutely expanded and fleshed out. Peasants doing crime, need social services for your castle, and even hosting banquets for you, your lady and your guests all to generate honour to build armies? Melee units seem to have been made a bit more tank and practical for use, and archers have been buffed quite nicely. The maps being expanded is the single biggest improvement over anything else. I look forward to buying Stronghold: DE, crusader, and hopefully this time too will be remastered.
