Very well put together. Commentary informative and easy to listen to. Great shots of working locos and the essential noises that go with them. Super job; many thanks!
Outstanding! Strong little rack locomotives there, they seemed to have no trouble on the steep incline! I can actually here the Swiss accent in their puffing, it's quite funny.
Many thanks for your comment. It is an amazing railway but of course being a lover of steam it’s the sound effects that add that special something. Glad you enjoyed it.
Thank you very much for letting me know you enjoyed the video. It is a beautiful part of wales and the sound of steam working hard made it a great walk even with a heavy tripod!
Bob thank you very much for watching the video and for your very generous comments. It's a very unique railway in a beautiful location, if somewhat challenging conditions!! The tripod got very heavy.
Many thanks for watching the video Ann. It’s a very beautiful place though a bit of a slog with video cameras! But the sound of the steam engine was fabulous. Glad you enjoyed it.
Thank you very much for your generous comment. It is not surprising of course that you heard the Swiss accent since not only was the rack system invented by Dr Abt but so too were the locomotives originally designed and built in Switzerland!! I am very glad you enjoyed the memories.
I looked up their web site, they now use Hunslet Engine Company diesel locomotives . These engines you are showing, were they steam, and powered by oil?
+HeartlandTuber They were actually using Diesel engines when I took this video and even though they may have added to their fleet since there are still coal fired steam engines operating now. From an operational point of view I am sure they have advantages but for a steam enthusiast like me the experience is just not the same. I hope you enjoyed the video.
+gerrybatch I've had a look on a few sites, and apparently the diesels save roughly 113 pounds per trip. Still, I do love their fantastic steam engines, so paying the extra fare for the "heritage steam" ticket seems worth it.
I could not agree more about a preference for steam though I recognise that from a fireman's point of view it must be a real benefit not to shovel all that coal.
Thank You, gerrybatch! 152 meters high for the BT Tower in Birmingham is right ( 499ft ). I once walked over Bosley Minn / Wincle Minn, which is 1,260ft, from the Buxton road at about 1,000ft. There was a concrete track over the top of it but I was scared. There were great views across Cheshire to the west and to the Peak District hills to the east, but I am never climbing a mountain, they are my least favourite scenery! I do like this video though, gerrybatch! Enjoy your mountains! Cheers - Mike.

Thank you just came across your video. Really enjoyed it. You can't bet a bit of steam. Thanks again. John Whitehouse
Most Excellent!! Thank you for sharing!
This is as good as any railway video I have ever had pleasure of watching. Well done.

Have no fear it one of the most beautiful journeys you can make. I hope you enjoy it.

Very kind of you to say so and I am glad to watched it.
gerrybatch booked my ticket for the steam teain in may. cant wait!
I hope you get a really clear day the views are stunning but all the better for a steam engine!
Hi Gerry, superbly done! Very nice well thought out and unobtrusive commentary. A master class in making You tube video's. Bob

Amazing, thanks 👍
And thank you for watching it. It’s is not only dramatic scenery but on the right day wonderful sound effects.
Obrigado por assistir o vídeo. São locomotivas incríveis, mas se conseguirmos, vou procurar a ferrovia que você mencionou.
Uma engenharia maravilhosa, num cenário lindo.

You are very generous in your comment but I am really pleased that you liked the video. Thank you
I wish I wanna ride with Snowdon mountain railway😊
Lembra muito os Locobreques da serra onde nasci em Paranapiacaba.
Many thanks for viewing I am very glad you liked it.
THIS SMALL STEAM LOCO PACKS PLENTY OF POWER.
Sorry to hear that but I hope you make it this year. Wales has a lot of choice for steam lovers.
Hay there's culled from the mountain railway!
You spelled Culdee wrong...
Thanks for checking me!😊
I have been up there and it was well worth the trip. Sadly, the peak was surrounded by cloud so couldn't see a thing.

Yes agreed very similar though I expect the scenery is a bit different?

due to a medical emergency in 2017 didnt make it, more determined than ever to get this year !! roll on opening time !
reminds me of Mt.Washington cog rwy.
7:37 Hey it's Culdee
Going there ! I'm so scared I hate nights ....
I ment hights
I imagine Snowdon may be as tall as BT Tower in Birmingham.
Snowdon beats it by a mile Mike. Snowdon is 1085 meters where the BT Tower is only 152 meters, according to Google anyway but I would not doubt it.
Thank You, gerrybatch!

It's very sad that they withdraw Ralph Number 7 and Eryri number
The narrator sounds like Jeremy English.
Dogs friendly ?
No but at least the railway was migic
the Mt. Snowdon Railway loses any and all respect as it uses more diesel engines. Without steam, it loses most of its appeal.
