I got those bands, they're a world of difference. i get lazy sometimes and over confident of not having to track the puck with my line of sight and those bands have helped me a ton. thanks brother!

I stopped using my neck guard a few months ago for the same reason, I actually just put a dangler on last night too! I can’t wait to try it out tonight!
Wow, awesome vid. When I first saw the tile i said "Crap no on ice training clips today." but I really got some good tips. Cutting the bottom flap on the chesty is a great idea. I don't tuck mine in either and it that flap was sticking out of my goalie jersey. I ended up customizing and putting two goalie shirts together to accommodate, so I wouldn't have that beer belly look. I think I will keep the customize goalie shirts, I find the in-between the body and inner arm shots have been less of an issue. Thanks again for the tips.

@@trav4oilers actually you just need to use little ones, i get them at the dollar store and they are the size of a dime and you get them in black or white to match your helmet and you barely notice them. you should at least try it 😀 i only use 3, one on either side and one at the chin.
I'm kinda shocked hearing about the rinks in Sweden having concrete floors. Even the most hillbilly middle of nowhere rink in Canada has rubber floors from the dressing rooms out to the rink.

Hey Trav, while you're in the Detroit area l highly recommended you check out Warwick goalie masks. Custom fit, lightweight, and extremely durable. I really can't say enough good things about the mask.
For your under short try a VE8 Vaughn padded one they put foam pads in the spots you get hit the most and you can take any of them out or put them back in I have it is amazing I would recommend you look at it
to stop hits in the collarbone area with the padded shirt, get rid of the padded shirt and buy a goalie neck guard, they have like a thick padded bib that is like a chest protector for your collarbone and neck area (posted without watching full video)

Disagree... those companies are foolish. They should take the criticism and make their product better. This has happened before in the computer equipment world with Gamers Nexus and Steve giving a crappy review of a crappy product, hissy fit from company follows, audience sees this and company loses sales. Not all companies do this, some take it on the chin and do better, those are the companies you want to deal with.
Trav I had a game last night that i tied 5 to 5 and made a save in the splits with no stick. But during warmups i had my back turned to the ice and someone absolutely launched a puck and it hit me in the neck at full speed.

Wish I had the chance to try the latest gen of goalie gear. It's a special relation you got with your gear as a netminder, it smells like shit after a game and it's lovely! edit: and yeah for mask paint, if you ever get rich, ask David Gunnarsson to paint it, he's really good (you prolly heard about him 1 billion times but anyway). Back in the days, early 00's he did orders for everyday people, not sure how long the queue for a job is these days tho.

Hey, I've got a question about your cage. I've got the same one from goalie parts, and I had a hell of a time connecting the chin area screws to my 960. I see yours are out. Was one of your brackets too short to reach the hole? I ended up making my own bracket, but it doesn't look great. Is the cage stable enough without those chin screws? I'm guessing yes by the amount of headshots you seem to take!
Great look at the gear! I have to admit that I am not a fan of True, after seeing 3 of my friends' True skates erode prematurely. I believe that True will ruin the Lefebvre gear with cheaper materials and construction. Hopefully not, but I won't be surprised.
I started playing hockey when brown leather pads were the norm. They were heavy. How much do your pads weigh? It looks like you could hold one aloft with your finger. Just another example of how the position has evolved. Watching vintage games from the 80's is an interesting experience. 9-8 games were the norm and pads probably weighed a hundred pounds by the time the 3rd period came around. Also, I'm curious to know about medical costs. Does your (wink-wink) "pro" team provide insurance, or are you responsible for the cost?
@@trav4oilers Thanks, bruh. You know, the more I think about it, I'm having a hard time thinking of a position in pro sports that has evolved as much as NHL goalies. Seriously, a penalty shot in the 70's 80's basically meant an automatic goal. Everyone got out of their seats on the rare occasion a goalie managed to stop one. It was that rare. Then you had guys like Guy Lafleur flying down the right wing and launching a slap shot that would leave the goalie flopping around like a fish out of water. Those were the days when stand-up goal-tending was still taught in order to minimize the risk of having your face smashed in by the puck. Remember Gerry Cheevers' mask painted with stitches depicting every spot on his face that he's been hit by a puck? Stand-up goal-tending combined with heavy equipment at times made it look like the net was empty.
I got the G5’s from my school. I love the feel. They slide really well. I’m 6’3” and the 36+2S are absolutely massive on me. I’ve used the same size in others so I thought it’d work, go try a pair on if you can. The glove looks like an oven mitt but it feels great. I got the 60 degree break

@@trav4oilers Thanks, bruh. You know, the more I think about it, I'm having a hard time thinking of a position in pro sports that has evolved as much as NHL goalies. Seriously, a penalty shot in the 70's 80's basically meant an automatic goal. Everyone got out of their seats on the rare occasion a goalie managed to stop one. It was that rare. Then you had guys like Guy Lafleur flying down the right wing and launching a slap shot that would leave the goalie flopping around like a fish out of water. Those were the days when stand-up goal-tending was still taught in order to minimize the risk of having your face smashed in by the puck. Remember Gerry Cheevers' mask painted with stitches depicting every spot on his face that he's been hit by a puck? Stand-up goal-tending combined with heavy equipment at times made it look like the net was empty.

I got the G5’s from my school. I love the feel. They slide really well. I’m 6’3” and the 36+2S are absolutely massive on me. I’ve used the same size in others so I thought it’d work, go try a pair on if you can. The glove looks like an oven mitt but it feels great. I got the 60 degree break

trav look at the headbands from vogelhockey.com theyre made of bamboo and my brothers friend makes them. he practiced with the flyers and phantoms, and was an emergency back up im pretty sure.
