It is a perfect observation that swedes are a bit introverted. But to be honest. Once you get in to a "gang", they'll be yur friends for life. It is super hard to be a swede in Sweden. And as you live in Stockholm, you'll find it a bit harder. Don't know why, but to move to the bigger cities, from like the countryside, as a Swede. Even that can be challenging. My suggestion tho, is, if you have a chanse, go to like a bar or something. Swedes tend to open up as they drink. Good luck, and hang in there. Cuz in the end, you'll learn to know the Swedish ways :)
Gonna throw some personal experience advice at ya Trav. I've worked the Railroad for 10 years now... the first 5 was spent leaving Ontario in April and going out West... and coming home a few weeks before Christmas. There was one or two long weekends i would be home during my season... but for the most part it was away from my wife and at the time my 3 yr old boy for 8 straight months. I hear you saying "It sucks" alot... and your right it it does suck. But brother... you gotta push that out of your head. Its gonna sound cold but you gotta not think about it... and when you start to... push it out of your mind and bury it. Its gonna not only effect your mental game but your physical game. Your there to do a job... your there to play hockey. Your gonna be able to come home again when your off season hits. Right now... Focus on hockey. Take on extra training to get your mind off it. Then open the flood gates when its "home time" and let those emotions out then. If you allow the negative thoughts stay at the forefront... its gonna impact your job. Trust me on this one.
You'll bounce back my man. You got. You put in the time and effort and you fuss up to your mistakes. Thats a strong trait bro. Good mentality. Youre gonna be the best this season bro 💯
Sadly, you probably moved to the loneliest place in Sweden. In smaller cities often higher up the country, the people are usually more open to new friendships. “The colder the place, the warmer the people.” is a saying I’ve heard a few times before.
Hey trav, make sure you set that OneR 360 cam to 50hz or a multiple of so you don't get the flickering. In Europe the lights are all 50hz. You probably already know but I just thought I'd mention it, it's why there's so much flickering in the grocery store.
general recommendation regarding the lack of sunlight, either pick up some supplements for vitamin D at an apothecary, or swap your mellanmjölk to the 3% fat version with the red packaging, it's got vit D in it at around 20% of daily recommended intake / dl and drink a glass of it every couple of hours. feeling sluggish or even full blown seasonal depression due to lack of sunlight is rather common this far north
