HK SFP9 M - Maritime Kampfschwimmer
Вставка
- Опубліковано 15 жов 2024
- This week on the Vickers Tactical Channel we have one of the rarest variants of the HK SFP9 or VP9, the HK SFP9-M. M for Maritime, this pistol was made at the request of the German Kampfschwimmer, the German equivalent of the U.S. Navy Seals. Never intended to be sold on the civilian market or imported to the US, this could possibly be the only one to ever make its way into America. Great pronunciation of the word Kampfschwimmer! Usually, people struggle more with the pf and sch sound but you nailed it.
No, he say "Kamp-fschwimmer". Correct is "Kampf-schwimmer"
I was pleasantly surprised by that too
@@Peter-der-gute-vegane-Hirte For an American, that's more than close enough.
I think he said he was in the 1st Battalion, 10th SFG, based in Germany, when he prepared for Unit selection (but dont quote me on this)
@@Kommentareable that sounds right.
Japan Ground Self Defense Force chose SFP9M as replacement for Minebea P9 (licensed SIG P220).
My gun of choice is still the Colt 45 in 1911 platform
@@levylacambra9510 still a good backup though

The sig is better weapon, the Marines still use 😮
I love how the shadow over Mr. Vickers' right eye makes him look like a pirate.
I came here to post this. Damnit. At least someone else noticed
very cool

Love catching your comments... LAV the MAN! Thankyou both!
redlettermedia?
The Slow-mo video that Larry does is simply stunning. Kudos to the team/guys that do it.
Love my Vp9 with a RMR. My everyday carry. Awesome pistol.
It's always cool how guns that aren't imported here grow arms and swim across the atlantic to end up in larry's gun safe. Vickers has some cool friends. I love getting to see some of these guns in detail.
oh my god, this man sleeps with a pillow of
guns. In his spare time I can imagine, loading
the weapons, cleaning them, Counting bullets
etc.
I have never seen such a great love for firearms,
and I love them
Also adopted by the JGSDF to replace their Sig 220's
I'm a simple man - I see a Larry Vickers video, I hit the like button
i like the feel of the vp9 in the hand, almost natural. i like to release the mag with my thumb. sfp9m is a nice gem
I have a VP9-B, which has the American style button mag release.
GSG9 uses the SFP9/VP9 Tactical. That's probably one of the most perfect out of the box pistols I own next to the PPQ.
The GSG9 uses the G17 as well as the Kampfschwimmer do. Not saying that they don’t have it in there armory, but it’s not there „go to gun“.
@@KommBat Special force be it police or army have all HK pistols including USP and P30, but go to gun is Glock 17.
GSG9 officers uses different pistols (mostly Glock and H&K). KSK / KSM operators also have the option to choose what pistol they want to use. I've seen KSK guys on photos from 2021 exercises with H&K P30s. The KSM (Kampfschwimmer) mostly uses the Glock 17 GEN5, but I've also seen H&K SFP9M. Those are all extremely good pistols. To be honest... I think the new Walther PDP (especially the Compact version) is superior to all of them.
Larry you're looking good and healthy man keep it up I'm happy to see you improve your health over the years you're an American treasure and I've been watching you since the history channel had actual history.
The paddle release is different, but once you use it, you will like it.
Sweet blaster! Would love a peek at Larry's gun safe! And some of the rare stuff he has. Thank you for everything you do LAV! ✌️
Hey Larry, I follow your videos since years. Thanks for making them. Keep up the good work! Cheers!
I have seen them with some sort of version of the clock 17, I believe its marine designation was P9A1
Korrekt, Glock 17 Gen4
More fun with *UN*-obtanium! Keep bringing them Larry!
It‘s sold as just another SFP9 variant in Germany through the official distributor. Can find them in stock at some shops (Dec 2020) and wasn‘t aware of their rarity abroad.
I have a VP9, great gun
JGSDF selected this
Will it actually survive Military Arms Channel’s gauntlet test? 😂😂
Ouch lol
Why does is matter for a volkspistole
The USP was one of the best at his test.
Awesome info and video as always. Thank you sir.
I love your slow mo shoots
Drooling. ...oh my. So fine.
Thanks Larry you are the best.
I have a vp9. Woulda been cool if u woulda field stripped the pistol and seen the difference if any on the internals.it does look nice on the outside
HK states in their own literature, that the VP series is not “military grade” like their hammer fired pistols. So with this version, did they toughen up the design?
ya that version cant shoot high +P or +P+ ammo..
I can tell you that the slide in normal SFP9 is different than in the US VP9. Has significant relief cuts and two striker channel drainage holes. What other difference are there I dont know.
@@MRsolidcolor funny enough the American version has a beefier slide than the sfp9. The sfp9 has additional lightening cuts in the slide while the vp9 doesn't, therefore allowing the vp9 to eat hotter ammo better
You need to do a preorder option on all the Vickers Guides. I’ll wait a year if I have to but I want to know I can get all of them, and at retail price(discounted price would be even better) and not get stuck paying some price gouging Ebay seller. Rather you get an extra sale.
Isn't this JSDF's new service pistol.
Yep
SFP9 is a great weapon. Easy to shoot, very light, very comfortable. Still, you can't hit anything with it beyond 25 meters, but I guess that wasn't a purpose for concepting this gun in the first place.
I had no issues hitting steel at a competition at 50 yards.
@@tristanhodgden4286 how big was the steel plate?
Larry at the movies suggestion “Marauders”
I have the SFP 9-L in ral8000. It's good but needed trigger work and suffered the HK hump.. yet a great gun.
great video but am the only HK snob who doesnt like the VP9 series? ill buy one probably at some point if I see one used at a good price but wont jump on it like a grenade with other HK models.
Good stuff LAV
Thanks, nice video. What means Striker gun ?
Nice Clip. I enjoy all the function and history. But the Kampfschwimmer use the G17. Sure they have other stuff like the P8C, P12 or P30 around but there battle pistol is the G17. Also the Kampfschwimmer Logo is Laurel Wreath, a sawfish, waves and a parachute. The logo looks a bit Scandinavian?!?!
The Kampfschwimmer Logo is a Sawfish with an Parachute . Not a Trident and an Anker.
New JSDF pistol
I've heard about working paddle mag releases with the trigger finger, but it seems like a lot of people are adamant about how dangerous it is. Could you elaborate on paddle mag methods?
It's not dangerous at all. The paddle is far enough under the trigger guard that using the trigger finger is easy. Only danger would be if you're blindly feeling around for it inside the trigger guard. I find paddle.mag releases faster than the button style.
Eh, I get 17 rounds in my VP9 Tactical OR and I'm happy with that over one with some slightly nicer slide finish
If the trend continues I can see in the near future HK Germany moving completely to the US kind of what Sig Sauer is doing right now.

Cool video! Would definitely like to see you review the Walther PPQ M1 down the Road.
The number on the slide CHE.... means that it was originally imported into Switzerland and somehow found its way to america
Looks like it was imported from germany into switzerland fairly recently (December 2020)
Great review...
Great review....
Very Cool H&K Pistol !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Did they do anything to address the rampant drop safety striker failure/dead trigger issues that the VP9 suffers from?
I’d like to hear the story on how some of these got out?
Regards,
Marky
@Tuatha DeDanaan That makes complete sense. I know LAV is tight with that SIG importer. Good post. -Marky
It's new service pistol for JGSDF(Japan Ground Self Defense Force = Japanese Army).
Does H&K have a patent on the magazine release? Once I started using this release I've become a big fan of this style. I'm surprised there aren't more pistols with this style release.
No..it's generally known as a European style mag release. Most guns designed and built in Europe have this style of mag release. I've owned a couple of guns that had it..both Walther. I like the design myself. ✌️
Is th SFP9 available to USA market? And MSRP on it? Not this one obviously, but the regular non maritime one.
I would buy one.
Great vid as always, Thank You ! :)
Think the comfyswimmers use the P11 for "under the beach" operations?
Hey Larry when the sfp9l was first introduced no lightening cuts. But now all the 5 inch slides have then .. making them the same weight as the standard vp9 slide ..do you know if they did that to be about to use the same weight recoil spring..I remember they lighten the vp9 springs because people we complaining about running 115 grain ammo my so its just a theory of mine..and if you have any pull with hk still since they changed the mag from 15 to 17 with little change in length..im hoping for a vp9 thats glock 19 size 15 plus 1
Would have liked to hear how they improved the drainage of the weapon system...
Very nice! HK should reexamine their decision not to import that variant to the U.S. law enforcement and civilian markets. Numerous LE Agencies have water-borne units and this particular model would be a good option. The cool-factor of the model is obvious for civilians.
Thanks for putting the video up.
Did anyone notice that this isnt realy the Kampfschwimmer logo on the gun and magazine?
That’s so cool! I’m a big VP9 fan. Would be cool if HK released a limited production run of these pistols in the US to honor the German Spec Ops folks, but I don’t think HK is into the commemorative scene. Thanks for sharing Larry!
These are on Arms unlimited right now. Stock is probably low though so if your interested I would go buy one.
Nice larry
I like it...Alot 👍
Any plans to do a review on the Sig Mastershop X-FIVE or X-SIX?
So only thing different from vp9 is front serations and slide finish?
Send that bad boy to Rick at Lazy Wolf brother!
Personally I think the recoil spring is way to stiff. I wish they could lighten it back up a bit.
Too stiff? What, do you have one?
@@f3uibeghardt522 He probably has a normal vp9
The VP9 has a .40 cal RSA. This enhances reliability with ammo used by, you know, actual men. Bunny fart loads need not apply.
Sfp9 b or cz p10c or Smith and Wesson m 2.
Oh gnarly
Does the "over the beach" modification help with hydraulic lock if water gets in the striker channel?
@Praise The Masculine Flames I can only speak to my experience, but a very small amount of oil found it's way into the striker channel on my VP9, probably because it was being stored barrel down in my safe. The next time I took it out to the range, it would not fire due to that oil blocking the full movement of the striker. Blasted it with brake cleaner and read the owners manual on where to apply the oil and no more issues.
One of very first guns I fired.
My first gun was Glock 19 and after that I was like "maybe guns aren't for me" but then I fired SFP9 and immediately went "fuck glock.
Fuck glock.....yeah I felt that
hii boss Can you '''Den of Thieves '''(2018) best scane please !!! Gerard Butler
Very good pronouncing of Kampfschwimmer (now KSM). Those are the real OG SF guys in the Bundeswehr. Decades before the KSK was even introduced.
There is a saying about the Kampfschwimmer qualification class: it is the hardest and most brutal training that a democracy can possibly allow.
Thank you for the video. Happy 1. Advent.
So we need to get the German Navy Seal version for it to be reliable when wet? Got it.
Correct, but you can’t get it. Got it?
Hi Dan, the coating is for regular use in salt water. The over-the-beach function (one hole) is also given with the regular SFP9 (VP9). I believe the newer ones even have the two holes just as the SFP9M.
Moronic comment. Current SFP9/VP9 has the grooved spring cups of this model for the same water draining ability. The chief difference with this variant besides the different internal finishes (specifically for salt water exposure) and additional slide grip serrations (for wet hands) is a heavier trigger and mag springs. The VP9 is very likely the best overall striker gun available today.
The normal VP9 is more than reliable when wet, it just isn’t designed to constantly be in saltwater. Don’t make yourself look dumber than you are. None of your handguns survive a long time in saltwater.
Would have been nice to get some more information on the changes HK made to this model to make it swim compatible. Would have been better to see it submerged then fired. Im a huge HK fanboy but refuse to carry a VP9 after MAC got it to completely choke in a little creek... I can throw my P2000 and P30 in a muddy puddle and they laugh it off.
Don't let that one video sway you away from a great pistol. There are many many more examples online of them being abused with completely different results. They are extremely reliable. I personally have tested four VP9s myself ( Two were standard models, one of which had the original 9mm weight spring. The other two were VP9 Tactical models). They were completely burried in dirt and the mags were also burried separate from the pistols. After 5 mags of this I only had one malfunction in one pistol in magazine #5 that a simple tap-rack fixed. They were also completely submerged in water with no failures through 5 mags. Tested in mud (depressed into the mud on both sides) and they also had no malfunctions. The only time I had a total failure was throwing them into the shallow end of a pond and purposely pressing them into the mud under the water to the point that mud was caked into every part of the pistol. The pistol was locked up, but this would have happend to any pistol without a doubt. It was disgusting . It was early January and temperature was roughly 20 degrees. We had to break the ice on the pond to submerged the pistols, FYI. If you're an HK guy already, then do yourself a favor and try one. It won't let you down, and you may find yourself selling other pistols for more VP9s. I've converted a few Glock guys already.
I would guess marine style cups on the firing pin. Instead of the standard cups, that are solid halves, they have small notches to prevent hydro locking. They make optional marine cups for Glock, likely a similar thing available for H&K. I have never looked though or worked on a striker H&K, so just a guess.
I'll watch an LAV video anytime I see one.
Looks like Canik TP-9 series of pistols.
How much?
The gun is still in production, but HK refuses to sell these to civilians since late 2018
Is it drop safe ?
After seeing MACs videos on the VP9, i wouldn't want to take this gun anywhere near a pond let alone the ocean 😂😂
I work with the Walther P99 as my daily driver; this has soooo much similarities I almost mistook it from the thumbnail. And for the love of god Larry... Learn how to shoot with two eyes open... The wrinkles from you squinting to close the other eye are not getting any less :) Shooting with both eyes open is an acquired skill, but easy to learn.
Is this an older video?
Like the recoil spring weight
Seems to counteract the action
Nice piece
But I'll stick to wheelguns and antiques.

Purportedly, there are about 160 available as of this date. Sale price of $1650 is way too much money for a pistol that I will shoot and not collect, so, too bad for me.......
Why is he taking his finger all the way off the trigger?
He wants that quick follow-thru. I believe he covered why he doesn't hold the trigger back contrary to popular belief in a previous training video.
@@SpecJack15 sure, I get why he doesn't hold back but you'd usually want to release just until the reset right? In the slow mo you can see that his finger comes all the way off to where there is space between the trigger and his finger.
