As an Ethiopian I can tell you that Afar is a really magical place. It has a landscape which is nowhere to be found on earth. You should have traveled more, you would have encountered active volcanoes, yellowish and greenish sulphuric lakes and landscape, a land full of salt and more. I really enjoyed this video, thanks for the video.

Wow another information about the tectonic plate! It's so good to see this geographic videos. I will put this in my journal book
Respekt!
This fern video was way more humorous than the rest, nice change of pace. Yet the video quality stayed the same or better.
God damn, nice job boys 👏
They are not boys, they are men
I was just looking into this subject a couple weeks ago and i was so annoyed that i couldn't find recent in-person videos of the fissure. Im super happy that u covered it and went as far as to send someone there to film and show us how it actually looks and how the people their are living. Thank you so very much ❤️
This is the best most fascinating and unique video I've seen in a long time. Congrats & thank you!
The quality. This is a Netflix docuseries + the personality of UA-cam.
Spectacular
Cool
That's a World Class DOCUMENTARY I watched right now. The Production value is really unbelievable.
FERN Team you are the best ! Love from India.❤
1:09 was clean asf 🥵
Yeah damn
I actually got chills from that!
Facts bruh
Didn't noticed it until i saw your comment
What a powerful, well researched and brilliantly narrated and explained episode. I only found this channel a few days ago but been binge watching all the content since then. This is so far my fav episode. Thank you!
This is one of the best made video i've scene on youtube in a while. NOT clickbate BS, very entertaining and very well made!! Not to mention the animations are top notch! keep it up! You have a new subscriber!!
😮
Not clickbait BS???
> New Ocean forming in Africa...
This is total clickbait bs 🤣
@@pelasgianskeleton my friend did you consider watching the video which explains how a new ocean is forming in Africa?
wow. fern has just casually uploaded one of the best independent 100% creator made documentaries for FREE. The research, production and writing surpasses the big documentary makers, and is a testament to the power of the internet and creator independence. There's a lot to miss about traditional tv and production houses as they slowly die, but creators like fern prove the future of content is bright. Well fucking done.
You guys’ production quality always blows my mind, yet you continue to improve more with every video. No one else on UA-cam right now holds a candle imo
One of the best YT videos I've ever seen. As good as any funded documentary I've seen. It was exciting and kind of moving to see the terrain, Valli's excitement, and the lives of the local people. Very cool.
Einer euer besten videos auf diesem Kanal! Wirklich Respekt, das ihr es hinbekommt, auf so vielen verschiedenen Kanälen, so oft so Spannende Videos hochzuladen.
I could hug all of you. Seeing you making a video about this just makes me ridiculously happy. I spend my days reading up (the disableds version of researching) about the geological history of earth, specifically about what we can read from the geological structures (mountain ranges, etc) we have today. It's special watching it happen in real time and you of all people making this video is just... Thank you
wow. just WOW. *thank you* to all involved, this was incredible start to finish. THANK YOU Vali - and all the wonderful people in Ethiopia - for sharing your experience with us (the awe inspiring, and the sad - I for one am glad that this was _not_ censored). it's truly humbling & awesome to live in such a day & age where we - 🌍🌎🌏 - *all* - the people of this wonderful planet are coming closer together, even if the ground beneath us is ever changing. great work all - thank you so much 💖😘
Vali is such a precious human being!
Guys!! This video is definitely steps ahead of the usual Fern Stuff!! So happy to see you guys grow!! Kudos and All the best. Hope to see more videos of this calibre!!! 🙌
This documentary just made me feel some kind of way, I feel grateful for life, to be alive, and to be a witness to all these.
Thanks fern✨
This isn’t just some UA-cam video… This is such an incredible production!!! Great job, bravo everyone at Fern! Incredible video and fascinating. Thanks for the great content!:)
This was a lovely video. Vaii Levi was an excellent and humble ambassador for this task. Thank you for sharing.
4:33 thanks for that TX & CA reference. I never realized Ethiopia was so big
this production quality is something i've never seen on youtube before. felt like a nat geo documentary. heck it felt better than some nat geo documentaries..
Are these bots.
As an Ethiopian I can tell you that Afar is a really magical place. It has a landscape which is nowhere to be found on earth. You should have traveled more, you would have encountered active volcanoes, yellowish and greenish sulphuric lakes and landscape, a land full of salt and more. Afar is also where the oldest and most complete humanoid fossil, australopiticus afarensis (afarensis refers to afar), which was one of our ancestors, was discovered, its also the reason why Ethiopia is called the cradle of mankind.
I really enjoyed this video, thanks for the video.
Thanks to all contributors for this information/video. Much appreciated.

You're tearing me apart, Lisa!
Ya beat me to it. Oh, hi @@hashbrown777
This was a great inside look at this geological event. I can't imagine living in that area, and am amazed at just all the places humans can live, and (somewhat) thrive.
16:33 absolute magic man. It does come across on camera. 🔥🔥🔥
3 minutes is the quickest I’ve ever liked and subscribed to a video.
Good job fern, you’ve earned my views.
The change style of content ngl surprised me ! Insane content as always !
I live in ethiopia and i can coniform this, there are cracks formed in the afar region.
Me my brother
I love to travel, and I'd be delighted to go somewhere like this and record my live reactions! Vali is living my dream!
The quality of your videos is mind blowing, new to this channel, first video I've seen from you guys. Wow. Great job.
Got a new ocean before gta 6
Nestle after that ocean like america is after oil
😂
After we get gta 6 what y’all going say then we finally got” ____” before ps6? Or a gf
16:06 a description of how it feels to walk around there- very cool, very chilling.
man, seeing how much this channel has evolved has really impressed me, I remember in their older videos their animations looked good, but nothing like what they have now. Keep up the good work!
all the afar people seem super stylish, smart, and charismatic, like great people to hang and chat with!
Fern, I can't thank you enough for the amazing work you do! Your videos are beyond high-quality, and the level of research and detail you put into them really shows. This video really stands out, it was an eye-opening experience; crazy good animations and the fact that you guys set up to travel to the actual locations just to make these videos for us to watch for free is mind-blowing. Honestly, it's like I'm getting way more value than even a UA-cam Premium subscription. Keep up the incredible work! 🙌
Thank you for the kind words! We are really proud of this one :)

Phenomenal. I got goosebumps lInterning to Vali describing what he felt, physically and emotionally, walking at the riff’s edge. Otherworldly. Thank you for this video.
