I bought this bike about 1 month ago. I can say It is a so good bike!!!!! I really really would like recommending. I am so happy with fx12023!!!!! So good
I bought this bike a week ago. Reactions after a a few rides? Well built, light weight, looks awesome- beautiful red paint job, gears work perfect. Manual disc brakes? I’m not impressed. Decent rim brakes work just as well for cheaper. Nice rims, tires seem fast. Last, but not least? The saddle. Worst one I have ever ridden on in my life. I’m serious. Gotta get a different one asap. I like the 2x8 drive train a lot. The derailleurs, both front rear, shift smoothly and quickly. Indexed shifting is THE best advance in bicycles in the last 50 years.
Last month I saw someone post a Nishiki mountain bike in near perfect condition, it was FREE. Looked it up before i offered to pick it up, it was $400 new at dicks sporting goods. I went to go pick it up, found out it needed some parts replaced so I dropped it off at one of the mom-&-pop bike shops here. Labor + parts came out to $82. 2 weeks later, after I had some fun riding it, i sold it to a young girl for $150. Bike flipping actually might be something to look into if you like to learn, if you're good with your hands, and you need a side hustle. i turned around and use $125 of it to buy the beautiful 2021 Trek FX1 hybrid bike in near perfect condition.
Great review as usual! I am buying this bike in the Stagger version used tonight as my girlfriends first bike. 2x8, disc brakes and internal routing all excellent upgrades at this price!
Great review! I’m honestly blown away at how far even the entry level fx has come. Im afraid that in a few short years my 2020 fx 2 will be surpassed by the new fx 1! I mean, it’s already starting to catch up to the spec of my fx 2, and has surpassed it in that it sports a 2x crank! Edit: 8 speed cassette. 8. Speed. CA-SSETTE. Yep, my fx 2 is going to fall behind the base level fx 1 in no time. Hydraulic brakes and an aluminum fork (or, even crazier, cromo steel) on a future fx 1 model and it’s over.
I bought a specialized cross-trail sport-disk back in 2015 and this looks as nice or nicer in some ways. Happy they are running wire for the brakes... no more break-fluid!! + easier maintenance in general. My only concern is the internal routing... how hard is that to redo on your own? do you need a special rod or something to push/pull the wire through the frame? Never had one with internal routing so curiosity is peaked.
How is this pared to a Felt Verza speed? I like the fx’ s as you can put on a bit wider tire. I tried the Felt today and it was such fun zippy ride but I will be doing some riding on crushed packed limestone forest preserve tails. Not sure which of these would work best
Hi James!! As a newbie, I got THIS BIKE on April 15th I ride a rail to trail and usually do 65 miles. What do you recommend for replacement tires to increase my speed? TIA!
I’m considering one of these for my new commuter bike to replace a stolen Giant SRX. I think this review seals the deal. Doesn’t look good for mountain biking, but the right tool for the right job, no??
In my opinion that's a significant upgrade. I've been working through in my mind how to put together a video that explains it, but the move to less rings up front and wider and back is better for almost all applications except for performance road.
@@Jamesthebikeguy And don’t underestimate the added simplicity. My wife is new to biking and she has two bikes. One is a 1x and the other is a 2x. She always forgets about the left shifter and says she doesn’t know how to use it. With the 1x it’s very simple and easy.
Well there is 25.4mm in an inch. So 700mm ÷ 25.4mm = 27.5591inches. Rounding that off, lets say that the wheel is one half inch larger than the "old school" 27inch wheel. However none of that takes into consideration the ERTO and bead diameter. To answer the question better you would need to know what your looking for as several dimensions change.
Am planning to buy a bike but confused which one is better Giant escape 3 or Trek fx1 Giant escape 3 has 38" tries Trek has 35" tires. And Trek has Shimano Altus but Giant has Shimano tourney only so am confused poz suggest me 🙏
Is a Camry better than a Accord? I say that because they are very similar and it is really your preference on what one you want. If they are not from the same bike dealer, go with the dealer that treats you best since either bike will ride great.
Oh, impossible to put fenders on it huh? I suppose I'd rather put an adhoc SKS mud guard on a bike than a rigid fender, but still, the option for fenders and a rack is nice 🤔
@@Jamesthebikeguy Oh that's good news, looking at the geometry it looks like it would be awkward as hell to fit a fender on the rear, thank you for letting me know. I'm looking at a few options to upgrade out of an old Raleigh Technium I picked up a decade ago off of Craigslist and between the Trek FX 1 Disc, Decathlon Hoprider/Riverside and rolling the dice on BikesDirect with one of the Motobecanes it's a hard call. The only thing keeping me from considering keeping the Technium and just fixing it up, replacing sprockets and the drivetrain is that I also can't put a damn thing on it like fenders because of the *old school* cantilever V-brakes which means I can only go out in dry weather unless I want to look like an inverse skunk.
I'm 5'5, I got a Medium. Was going to go with Small but I felt way more comfortable in a Medium. I'd say go with a Large for long-term comfort but it's really up to you
I just bought an FX3 after considering the FX2. Only $200 more for carbon fork, 1x10 drivetrain, isozone grips, etc. Pretty much paying for the fork and all other upgrades are included. I’m really enjoying it. No regrets.
It's kind of ugly but I didn't buy it for it's look but because it had QR axels that are needed for my older style Cycle Ops indoor trainer. My normal street bike has through axels that is not compatible with this trainer. I also bought this disc bike for my grandson to ride when he comes over to my place instead of the FX 1 with the caliper brakes.
yeah these FX are a no-go for me. I tried the FX3. Shifting was clunky. They need to move to a 1x front on all FX models. Although I tried the FX1 and FX2 and the shifting was clunky on both and noisy. Sometimes it had trouble getting into the next gear.
@@Jamesthebikeguy go look at your video on the FX2 for 2022...there is a clear difference in how the FX in that video looks vs the non-FX bike you have in this video.
You have earned yourself 1 dislike and 1 report from me. You are advertising a previous model bike with a totally different name while discretely editing the title of the video to TRICK and SCAM the viewers. Extremely disappointed with what you have gone with this channel, the bike you are filming here is NOT a 2022 model.
This IS a 2022. In fact you can know that for sure, by either watching the video as I explain it, or the following ways: 1) The drivetrain changed for 2022 and this has the 2022 spec. You verify this on Trek's website to see that this is the 2022 model as well. (2021 = 3x7 drivetrain, 2022 = 2x8 drivetrain). 2) This color was not offered in 2021. 2021 only came in "Solid Charcoal". 2022 comes in "Rage Red" as shown in this video, and "Satin Trek Black" Regarding your disappointment in my channel, I appreciate the thought. Not sure what you are "disappointed" in considering you are misinformed on your criticism but that's fine.

I'm looking at new bikes, I really like the Trek Verse 2 Disc. I just need to pull the trigger and buy it. Really nice bike!
I just put the order for it. So excited !!!!!!!!!
Love my new 22 FX2! I had a dual sport 1 for 1 day and took it back! The FX2 was the better choice for me for hilly mostly road travel.
Great review!
Love the review. How much of a difference does the change from a steel to an aluminium fork make to the the ride quality between the fx1 and 2?
Nice review. ... Looks like a good bike to get started on....!
Sure is!
Great review! 2 x drivetrain is a positive! Less complicated better chain wear. Shocks wear out. Thus is a neighborhood bike. 👍👍😎🇺🇸

What size are the gears for the cassette and the crank?
