You kind of have to get there early anyway, so why not! Just set an alarm. I flew LA to JFK on a redeye before a flight to Rome and fell asleep in the lounge at JFK waiting for my Rome flight, which was much later. If they didn't come to wake me up, I would have missed my flight!!
