Another fantastic video Alex. I have never been on a 753, but I have flown on 752s a couple of times. They’re similar to being on a 321 but with the slightly narrower cabin.
Wow!! Yes, I use to look up at the Old Braniff Airline back in the 1970s and I would see the DC-8 Super 63s. And I thought those were long!! Wow!!@ the 73 series!!! Wow!! Nice back then in the good days.
As a German avgeek and average Condor enjoyer, I want to give some more insight. I flew to Gran Canaria on the Canary islands aboard a Condor 753 (D-ABOB, D-ABOH on the return flight). As someone who is 1.95m tall (6.4 ft for all Americans) I really enjoyed their seats... They don't offer any IFE via those audio outputs but the screens show information (altitude, speed etc) throughout the flight. I can also confirm that Condor has some lovely pilots, they make by far the funniest announcements and are quite friendly. By the way, "Wir lieben Fliegen", which was written on the heart 757 does not only translate into "we love to fly" but also into "we love flies", for that reason there is the small insect on the horizontal stabilizer of the plane. I'm glad that you enjoyed the flight just as I did on my trip. Thanks.
I love the way you flew into Frankfurt from western Canada and then immediately checked the schedules, knowing there would be interesting flights on offer.
@@marcd6897 I'd gladly pick Heathrow T5 or CDG T2 (excluding the 2G gates, of course) over that aging, multi-level maze that is FRA T1. My personal favorite: If you arrive on a Non-Schengen flight, after walking up and down several sets stairs and trotting down corridors that do not seem to end and after finally passing immigration with a comically undersized non-EU passport line and passing thorugh what looks like THE customs channel, you actually leave the secure area and enter the landside arrivals hall. Without collecting your bags. You can see it during depature from 12:25 to around 12:33 sitting on the Apron. Please give this commet a like that Alex notices it :) Thank you.
I´m remembering to the screens, too. They gave the impression sitting in a cinema while a movie was shown during the flight and the lights were dimmed - very different from the usual impression in more modern aircrafts.
11:46 - that is equivalent to pulling out on a road with the accelerator to the floor 😁😂No lining up and waiting. Just full power from the taxi way and turn on to the runway 👏
In the States, the 757 is a common occurrence. I also flew on it a few times between Newark and Heathrow. Perfectly fine. I’m from the generation where we flew 707s and DC-8s across The Pond, so the 757 didn’t seem out of place at all.
@Lurch As of 2023, Newark is the third-largest hub for United after Chicago and Houston. In the 1990s, every airline seat had a larger pitch than it does today. I'm sure you're fond of your reminiscences. And no one cares, especially me.
When I worked as a flight attendant for delta I’d often work the 75-300. I used to hate working on them because I swear the aisles went on for miles 😂 I didn’t realize not many were made!
I flew on one of these from Hamburg, Germany to Lanzarote, Canary Islands Spain. The flight was only 3/4 booked, I had one row for my own. It was the best flight in my life. ✈️ ❤
Talk about making great use of your down time! So wish we could do these kinds of relatively inexpensive, last-minute "day trips to nowhere" in Canada. Love the 757; flew on Royal Airlines (remember them?) and on BA. Always had good experiences with Condor too! Thumbs up from YLW.
*@@boblatham7696 Yes, overall length of both Tu-144 and Concorde was longer than the 757-300 (by about 35 feet and 24 feet, respectively) but the passenger cabin was significantly shorter. The DC-8-61 and -63 were about 9 feet longer. Considering aircraft models still flying, the 757-300 is the longest single-aisle. Not certain but I believe the only DC-8s still flying are a couple of DC-8-72s (re-engined -62s), 30 feet shorter than the -61 and -63.
@@rickpalmer9518 In terms of performance, yes, but I was simply responding to Alex's title comment "and I knew I had to take the opportunity to try the world's longest single-aisle airliner!". Perhaps twin engined, single isle airliner would have allowed the 757-300 to sit rightfully on the top step of the podium.
That spool up of the RR 757 engine on take off reconfirmed it as my favorite engine sound from any airliner. I flew on many 75's as a inflight crew member a truly wonderful aircraft throughout its design. Great video Alex I always enjoy your enthusiasm for our shared love of aviation!
I went on lots of 757s back in the 90s, primarily with British Airways and a charter airline called Brittania which went to lots of holiday destinations including Majorca. It was a huge step forward from the older Boeing 737 200, the 727, and the Trident which was the mainstay of BA's short-medium haul fleet until the 80s. Good memories.
Nice! I've flown one of Arkia's former 757-300s a decade ago between Tel Aviv and Eilat's old airport. Their two 753s were later retired from the fleet and purchased by Icelandair, who still operate them as far as I know. 4X-BAW, the 753 I flew on, debuted wearing the special Icelandair livery. I have otherwise flown on the 752 slightly more often.
I flew with Condor´s 757-300 from Hamburg/ Germany to the Canary Islands and back before the Pandemic - the four-and-a-half-hour-trips were usual standard in comfort for European Carriers - some LCC-Carriers like Ryanair are flying the route with even smaller legrooms. The 757-300 are unique and so were my impressions from that flights, too. Condor had once 15 of it, but are retiring them now piece by piece - 8 of them are still in service at the moment, all of them between 20 and 25 years old. What I´m remembering is how overwhelmed the Spanish Ground Handlers on Gran Canaria obviously were with this large aircraft: They needed nearly two hours to unload the luggage and the return flight departed with a huge delay. Thank you very much for this Trip Report!🙂💛👍
I’ve worked as a flight attendant one of Condor’s 757-300’s when it was leased to Transavia one summer, around 2002. I think it was D-ABOH. Had to con my way into joining the select few to get qualified and actually work it. As noted, the cabin is endless. Walking from one galley to the other and back to fetch something was a 100 meter walk, so it was great exercise. One unique feature that stood out was the camera in the forward galley, to be used by the lead flight attendant to broadcast themself over all video monitors in the cabin. Awesome stuff.
I'm lucky to have flown on a Condor 757-300 from Düsseldorf to Menorca (and back) around 15 years ago! On that flight I also bought a small model of the special livery 753 - and I still have that model. Amazing to see you try it, and even being on the special livery plane itself (which I never saw IRL unfortunately)
I made once the mistake of pre-booking row 9F on the Condor 753 DUS-FUE and it was Seefunk. And I am a very regular 180cm. So return flight we booked the door 3 emergency exit seats, which were great. And yes, on longer flights Condor does show a movie. All in all, Condor is a well known name for German tourists and I like to fly with them. During the climb when crossing the East coast of Mallorca, you saw the Cap Formentor, an amazing lighthouse 180m above the cliffs with a long and narrow windy road with awesome views along the coast. If you’re looking for a little break let me know. I work in the travel industry and can assist you to book a German package holiday, including flights you may want to checkboxes like Vueling, EasyJet or even Ryanair (🤓) Sundair is also worthwhile to check out.
I'm surprised that I actually flew on the type before Alex did...Most of my flights to and from Europe were aboard 757-300's flown by Icelandair from YEG. I also loved the sounds too. It's a pity the flying pencils are being retired. I still think that Boeing should've updated the 757 and kept it in production...
The success of the A321XLR shows that after the end of the 757 production run, there was a desperate need for airlines for a single aisle high capacity plane with medium to long haul capabilites.
I worked the 'standard' 757 and the -300. We were the only airline in the UK that had them. JMC became Thomas Cook, and I think eventually, Condor had some of our aircraft as there was some kind of affiliation between the two. Flying the standard pencil was long enough, but on the 300, you walked for miles every day! A skipper said to us on our first flight on it, if you had crew seats at doors 2 on take off and landing just look how much the back galley wobbles around. Same in flight, if it was lumpy, stand in either galley and watch the far end just bounce around! Quite a sight to behold. I have to say though, the 757s were amazing machines to work on and the thrill of hearing those RR RB211s powering us skyward like a homesick angel never got boring! Useless fact - did you know the -300 variant has a skid under the tail to prevent damage? It lowers and raises with the landing gear.
While I prefer Airbus as a manufacturer, nothing can beat B757 as my favourite airliner. Such cute beauties! 🤪 Of the 33 flights I've been on, 13 were on the B752s. I hope you tick a B752 with PWs off your list as well. ☺️
Hello Alex I have been watching for a long time now and it has been good seeing your channel grow and grow till success and thank you for always sacrificing your comfort for us to view those amazing turbofans views
I flew the Condor B757-300 one single time on a flight from Tenerife-South to my homeairport Düsseldorf (DUS). Very nice flight but without any service whatsoever on a 4:15h flight .....!
I’ll be excited to finally add the -300 with Delta later this summer having flown on the -200. United also having the RB211’s, my cousin Swayne Martin says the -300 is more sluggish to fly and award un crosswinds than the -200’s, both of which are surprisingly heavier on the controls stay in the 767’s.
Condors 757s are a staple of my childhood, I spent many hours on them. Flying on the "Wir lieben fliegen" 757 (also named "Willi") was a core memory for me and my last Condor 757 flight was in 2021 on D-ABOA, which also served as the prototype and first-built 757-300. It's sad to see them being retired, but I'm glad to have had the experiences I managed to get with these beautiful pencils :)
Interesting. I didn't know about the -300 variant. I was lucky enough to fly the 757-200 with BA on Jan 1st 1995 Edinburgh to LHR. Super smooth greased on landing just like yours too...
Great video, I love trips like this. Up bright and early, pop down to Majorca and back, just in time for lunch! Glad you got the 757-300. Now for the -200, we have a tonne down here in the US ;)
I flew on condors 757-300 (D-ABOF) to Hurghada in Egypt once. Little tip: the First 7 or 8 rows are „premium economy“ where they have quite a bit more legroom and leave the middle seat free. But if they can’t sell all of those, they open them up for economy and you can book those for no extra cost (without the free middle seat ofc). At least that’s how it worked for us in 2022
I flew on the 757 from Manchester to Kos in 2015 with condor, the screens in the isles showed the Simpsons on that flight and i thought it to be a good flying experience
I mainly remember my one and only 757-300 flight for a ridiculous reason. I had been in Houston for a conference and back home, bad weather was on the way to mess up my flight back to Newark. So I rebooked my flight, but since my original flight had not been cancelled yet (it eventually was, so I guess I still made the right call), I had to pay the difference in the fare plus a change fee. The new fare was several times more than the original fare, using the "because we can" system of airline pricing. I got on the 753 and found that I had the whole aft cabin, the last 8 or 9 rows, to myself. Basically, United had used me to cut their losses for this fairly empty flight. Cool.

I got to fly on one of these, a 351 on Delta last winter. It was a younger one, built in 2002. They are certainly very interesting, didn't realize how rare these are. You can tell they are zippy compared to other jets, they are off the ground in what seems like seconds. Here's to the flying pencil.
I just flew on a 753 last week. Delta from LAX to ATL. The plane was 100% full. I was in 12A comfort +. 757 are fantastic planes to fly. I wish they would start building them again.
I flew on a Condor B- 757 300, it was a, replacement for a Thomas Cook 757 200 (which went ⚙ tech in Tunisia 🇹🇳) What I love is the fact the folk at the front must stay seated till the rear empties or it well tips back lol... Great machine I had seat 💺 across from stewards at main door...
I had the privilege to fly on the Boeing 757-300 back in 2011 when my family flew to Phoenix on Delta for spring break. Unfortunately I don’t remember much from the flight there and back because I was pretty young at the time.
I must say I found it "strange" seeing a B757 with winglets. These were a retrofit in the 2000s I believe. I remember flying these planes on main trunk routes out of LHR to GLA EDI CDG AMS with BA where they replaced mainly L1011 Tristars on high-capacity or 4+ hour routes and Tridents on commuter routes. These were all however the shorter 200 variants. They were still an awesome plane to fly on and state of the art for the times. I believe they flew from the early 80s to the millennium. They also served transatlantic routes from BHX and GLA.
You should try the long haul 737 max routes from Halifax/St John from Air Canada, that would be an interesting trip report for you to cover, another long haul narrow body
When we lived in Halifax, we flew the AC 767-300 between YHZ and LHR several times, even as early back when they made a stop, both ways, in YYT. (Ah, the good old days)!
I got to fly on a few of them when I was a kid, mostly United and TWA. I ended up getting to be a flight attendant for TWA and got to work one of their 753's when they flew a HNL-LAX-JFK-PBI route. I miss the days! Aircraft like those old workhorses just don't exist much anymore!
TWA never had 757-300s. Only Northwest, Continental and ATA purchased them among USA carriers. TWA did have 757-200s, most of which are flying for Delta now.
Thank you sharing your flights here. You made me laugh 😂 about the leg room on the 757s. I love those aircraft as well. But I need more leg room because I stand 6'2" so, when I have traveled on them I try to get the Exit Seating to get way more leg room. And then the window seat on the right side and it it the second row passed Door 2R gives you so much leg room on the USA flights. But I do like First/Business/Polaris Class sections on our United or American Airlines. I have the transcontinental flights on the 757-200s and I have flown to Hawaii out of Los Angeles on them in First Class. I have not flown on the 757-300s. I heard that United Airlines got the 757-300 from the merger take over of the old but nice Continental Airlines. Friends have told me that those aircraft are so long. Now, see, for me the old DC-8 Super 63s were very long. The old history of Braniff Airlines had those old great history aircraft!!!! By the way, I am a little bit of a nerd myself!!! And a former Purser Flight Attendant from a USA airlines as well. I noticed on you second flight as they were getting ready to turn on to the runway, the cockpit power up as they were making that left turn!! Sweet!! I have loved it when that has happened!!!!
Fantastic aeroplane. Very lucky to have operated the 757-200 & 300 along with the 767-300 for Thomas Cook Airlines for many years prior to their demise. Very fond memories.
My first ever flight on an Air Liner was a 757-200 operated by Monarch from Manchester to Las Palmas (Gran Caria). It's been my favourite airliner ever since.
I flew one of those back from Saidi Arabia back in the late 90's. Riyadh to Sigonella to Shannon to BWI. It was a LONG trip, but I didn't mind the single isle.
I am traveling between MCO-SFO on United every other week, and my flight out from MCO is usually at 757-300. most of the pilots that I talk to love that plane!
I work for a cargo airline in Canada, and we have a lot of 757’s. Amazing aircraft one thing though we have to hand pack cargo in the bellies unlike our 767’s where we can load the bellies with containers. Everyone at my work hates 757’s because of that. But one good thing about the 757 you can walk under it without ducking your head because it sits so high off the ground so you don’t have to worry about hitting your head off a VHF antenna or the DME antennas
Alex, Icelandair serves Vancouver and Seattle and they fly the 757-200s. Also, check Delta and United schedules out of their Hubs and you might find a 757 between one of the hubs.
My only flight on a B-757 was on Delta between Salt Lake City and Dallas-Ft Worth back in 2000. The long narrow interior reminded me of flying DC-8-63's in the mid 1970's. I really enjoyed both aircraft very much.
I have taken the 757-200 (spanair) from Tos(entc) to Lpa(gclp). Travel time is usually between 6.30 to 7.00h. The 757 is a beautiful plane, but 7h is a struggle with charter configuration even if I am not over 180cm.
Mallorca is Germany's 17th state and UK's 49th county so no surprise lots of flights heading there. We used to go on Air 2000 757s in the 80s and 90s and I used to obsess about the Rolls Royce RB211-535E4 engines and the ridiculous thrust they had for the size of plane. The climbing out of Birmingham was always amazing.
I remember, as I got out of my Ryanairflight with Lauda last Summer, I saw the Condor D-ABOI in the stunning new blue livery and it was just in Front of me, because at the Hamburg Airport we had to go by foot from the plane to the terminal (budget Ryanair vibes) And the Picture of the D-ABOI I got ist wonderful with no fences between me and the plane and a beautiful sunset in the background 😍
Did Thomas Cook not send some of these over to Canada to Air Transat for their winter program years ago before they went bust? Condor were Thomas Cooks sister airline ,
Got my hands on the 757-300 model of this exact aircraft D-ABON. Sold It on as It was too big for my collection. Been on Delta and Icelandair and a Delta sits on my shelf. In terms of Mallorca then Air berlin had a330s flying back and forth from the Island and these flights carried 390-400 pax onboard. My own history with the 757 Is Icelandair, Delta and United. The last being transatlantic on the -200.
The 757-200 is still in service at Icelandair. Maybe even to and from Canada. At least they are used between Reykjavik Keflavik and Amsterdam in the summer season…
I have flown on a few 300s with Delta. I will miss the 757 - loved the power. Mostly flew the 200 from SLC to DCA - one of the few long flights into and out of DCA. Great video.
Mi very first flight was 1997 on a Condor 757-300 from Frankfurt to Fort Lauderdale FL ( it was still the time where you could smoke on the plane) . I was later fling on th 753 on NWA to las vegas .
The 300 in the new Condor "ringelsocke" livery must be a sight to behold! I flew on an Icelandair 757 last year and my ears were not prepared for those engines. The return leg on a Max was like golden silence by comparison.
I've flown on the 757 many times to/from Cabo Verde with TACV in the 2000s and early 2010s. Such an amazing aircraft and as you said, those RB211s are just mesmerizing! I hope to fly on one again in the future before they're all gone.
That was a very fun way to experience a 757-300 by the look of it. I've been fortunate to fly on a American Airlines 757-200 from PHX to LAX in 2017 (now retired), but haven't flown on -300.
I worked in Renton, Washington, where the 757 was made. Our building was halfway down the short runway & that plane was up & gone at our building. What a fast airplane.
Alex you lucky...man!! Do you know how long i've been chasing the D-ABON (Willy plane) 753? And never pegged it..I have flown a couple of times with Condor's 753 and with Jet2 who still fly the 752 with RB211s engines and i really enjoyed it..Jet2 flies their 752 from MAN ..Great screamers! And the only thing better than a RB211 takeoff is a RB211 landing with spool and thrust-reverse! If i am not mistaken the 757s flying in the US are not all with RB211 engines but mostly with PW which don't sound so great
Flew on Continental 757 300 years ago to vegas reminded me of the Air Canada stretch DC 8 in turbulence the both seem to bend left to right in the middle very noticeable when you sit near the rear of the plane
I live in the flight path of ORF and have multiple daily treats of Delta 757-200's to and from ATL. Of course, I don't have to step out and look to identify due the singing RR's announcing the flyover. The 757's replaced MD88's on this workhorse route and I don't miss the multiple rocket launches to ATL at all. Great planes, but may they rest in peace (and quiet). Boeing had the right idea in replacing the equally or more noisy 727, but too bad they cut the 757 and 717's lives way too short.

Im a ramp agent for delta and it my favorite plane to work on. soooo nice.
As someone who mostly flies Delta, I have flown numerous times on both 757 types. I have always liked the 757s.
Actually the Super DC-8 was the longest single aisle plane. It was about 8 feet longer than the 757-300.
I believe that the Tu-144 and Concorde (both single isle) were longer than the DC8-63 and B757-300
@@boblatham7696 your comparing apples and oranges
@@boblatham7696 and the cabin is narrower
I kinda like how "Wir lieben Fliegen" could translate into both "We love to fly" and "We love flies"...
Two 757 on the same day! Lucky you! Thanks for sharing!
4:23 Music to my ears of the RR RB211’s on the 757
While I prefer Airbus as a manufacturer, nothing can beat B757 as my favourite airliner. Such cute beauties! 🤪 Of the 33 flights I've been on, 13 were on the B752s. I hope you tick a B752 with PWs off your list as well. ☺️
Nice to see you expanding into International Airlines coverage. 👍
Once again Alex, your videos always impress and are a joy to watch. Thank you for sharing this adventure with us.
Great seating choice. I would highly recommend the same seats but on short flight in 757-200. The sound and the powerful takeoff is amazing!!!
Also when you booked two one way tickets, were you not stressed that the first one might get delayed?
Now for the -200, we have a tonne down here in the US ;)
did not expect to find you here but your pretty cool
I flew on a United 757-300 from Denver to Lax and the leg room was surprisingly good compared to other United planes I have flew on.
i flew on their 753 SFO-DEN and never thought they were rare lol, yeah it was actually not too bad
@@Banom7ame neither 😂
Cool.

ALEX!! First time viewer!! I just subscribed!! I always wondered what the AC JETZ logo meant when I was sitting in the first class lounge @ YYZ!! I really miss flying and enjoyed your channel today. I have to tell you that I had the "distinct pleasure" as a employee of SHELL GLOBAL to fly back and forth to Dubai from YYZ for 5 amazing years, first class, on EMIRATES A-380!! Truly an amazing adventure!! It was a "TOTAL" revelation of how "the other half travels"!! The people, the lounges, the staff, the food and the wonderful EMIRATES staff who were incredible and understood what "first class" meant and they had it down pat!! I retired 5 years ago and have not flown since!! This video whet my appetite to pursue a new adventure this summer!! I will continue to watch your video's and thanks for your efforts!! Greetings from Canada !! GIDDYUP!!
Both landings absolute butters. Very nice video thank you
I got to fly on one of these, a 351 on Delta last winter.
I loved the sound of the 757 engines
I love that engine sound Alex! Great vid!
I flew on a Condor B- 757 300, it was a, replacement for a Thomas Cook 757 200 (which went ⚙ tech in Tunisia 🇹🇳)
What I love is the fact the folk at the front must stay seated till the rear empties or it well tips back lol...
Great machine I had seat 💺 across from stewards at main door...
At 16:25 Lufthansa 747 is like peekaboo... Great video as always.
I love the takeoffs on a 757, reminds me of my first flight on an EAL B720.
Love the engine sound!
You should try the long haul 737 max routes from Halifax/St John from Air Canada, that would be an interesting trip report for you to cover, another long haul narrow body
he did a YHZ - YVR route like that one :)
When we lived in Halifax, we flew the AC 767-300 between YHZ and LHR several times, even as early back when they made a stop, both ways, in YYT. (Ah, the good old days)!
@@MikoDT YHZ-YVR is only 97 miles shorter than YHZ-LHR.
Ah. Coulda swore towards the end of TWA's life that they owned a few.
Condor / LH launched the 757-300 as well. They were the launch customer in 1999.
Beautifully narrated video. What a plane, long and endless😅buttered landing by both pilot
My favorite Boeing commercial aircraft. What a hot rod! And, the landing on the return flight? Butter.
Theres nothing better then arriving at the airport early morning very dark and hearing your plane take off
My first ever flight on an Air Liner was a 757-200 operated by Monarch from Manchester to Las Palmas (Gran Caria). It's been my favourite airliner ever since.
I flew one of those back from Saidi Arabia back in the late 90's. Riyadh to Sigonella to Shannon to BWI. It was a LONG trip, but I didn't mind the single isle.
Flew a United 757-300 between LA and San Fran in April 2014. Beautiful flight on a beautiful aircraft.
Also, check Delta and United schedules out of their Hubs and you might find a 757 between one of the hubs.
actually the dc-8 series 60 was longer then the 757-300.
Been on the Delta 753 a few times!! It's amazing when you are sitting in the back during take-off!
It kinda looks like a mixture between a concord and a a320
My only flight on a B-757 was on Delta between Salt Lake City and Dallas-Ft Worth back in 2000.
Love the new Condor livery as it screams beach holiday to Germans.
I remember, as I got out of my Ryanairflight with Lauda last Summer, I saw the Condor D-ABOI in the stunning new blue livery and it was just in Front of me, because at the Hamburg Airport we had to go by foot from the plane to the terminal (budget Ryanair vibes)
And the Picture of the D-ABOI I got ist wonderful with no fences between me and the plane and a beautiful sunset in the background 😍
12:48 is the part of the island where my aunty lives. Lovely video mate great you got on both 😊👍 Liked
0:09 *sad DC8 Super 60/70 noises*
I flew from Tenerife Sur to Frankfurt with the 757, we had a beautiful sunset scene and the flight was very comfortable.
A M A Z I N G !!! To pass the time, until the next flight, just fly quickly to Mallorca and back.
Great vid 👍 more Condor 757 flights on my channel 😉
Loved this, thanks Alex!
I think the last 757-200 I was on was a now defunct Royal Airlines flight from Toronto-Thunder Bay and Back in around 2000
I've flown on that 50th anniversary special some 12 years ago from Frankfurt to Halifax! Neat!
Boeing had the right idea in replacing the equally or more noisy 727, but too bad they cut the 757 and 717's lives way too short.
this guys content is fire!
The longest single aisle plane was the DC-8-73. United had a fleet of them in the 1980's. They were 14' longer than the 757-300.
You're right, my bad! Put a pinned comment and I'll be fixing the thumbnail shortly
Thanks a million for that
4:49 beautiful sound… ❤
