    I'm not an expert, but as far as I know breakdance is composed by a few categories of moves. What we're seeing here is mainly 3 of them: top-rocks, footworks and some freezes. What we're NOT seeing are power moves, which contain some of the most complex and gymnast adept moves. I believe this is the reason why people are watching and thinking this is not breakdancing, becasue of the limitation of moves we're seeing on these performances.

    • @sam.p12345
      @sam.p12345 2 місяці тому +7

      I guess fundamentally it's just not impressive, and it's properly cringeworthy that they apparently don't realise that.

    • @andrewsk6898
      @andrewsk6898 Місяць тому +7

      This is first of all a dance, you aren't required to include power moves in all your rounds or master all power moves. That's why I think breaking shouldn't be in Olympics, people appreciate only power moves and don't want to look into breaking deeper, but it's understandable

    • @sam.p12345

      @@andrewsk6898 But that’s true of everything. Not all driving involves doing 200mph with pinpoint accuracy. But formula one would be a bit crap if it was just some really mundane driver driving around at 30mph doing rubbish moves. The whole point of a competitive sport, and particularly the olympics, is that it’s supposed to be impressive and involve loads of skill.

    • @andrewsk6898
      @andrewsk6898 Місяць тому +1

      @@sam.p12345 yeah that's why I think breaking shouldn't be in Olympics, you can't judge by who did the most headspins or flares

      @@andrewsk6898 Isn't that the case for any competitive event though? Your average joe might not understand everything going on, but they'll still enjoy those big moments. Even if most people can't appreciate the effort and depth in the other aspects of breaking, there are still the fans and judges who can enjoy that stuff and understand why someone should win.

      Fr. Why didn’t she do this routine instead?! She was actually breakdancing here🧐

    • @AlexanderMock-iv9ue
      @AlexanderMock-iv9ue 3 місяці тому +45

      The idea in her head was probably like “this my only chance to do this at the Olympics I need to make it “special”.
      So instead of doing something she was familiar and comfortable with, she tried to like reinvent the wheel thinking if her routine was super special or different she will win it. She tried to make something artsy and extravagant, when she should have just done something simple but technically impressive.

    I worked at a summer camp and I had a 2nd grade kid that would always be like "I can break dance. Do you wanna see me break dance?" And then would just kind of aggressively flop to the floor and then he was done. But he was 100% serious about it, so you had to be like "wow, awesome."
    If these dancers work really hard for a few more years, they might be better than that 2nd grade kid and his flop move.
