I'm not an expert, but as far as I know breakdance is composed by a few categories of moves. What we're seeing here is mainly 3 of them: top-rocks, footworks and some freezes. What we're NOT seeing are power moves, which contain some of the most complex and gymnast adept moves. I believe this is the reason why people are watching and thinking this is not breakdancing, becasue of the limitation of moves we're seeing on these performances.
This is first of all a dance, you aren't required to include power moves in all your rounds or master all power moves. That's why I think breaking shouldn't be in Olympics, people appreciate only power moves and don't want to look into breaking deeper, but it's understandable

Break dancing was so much more back in the 80’s. We used to do it in the parks for fun and some of the moves were unreal! I used to be able to do moves i can only dream of now. It was just the thing to do back then. Times have changed i know

Am I missing something? I have seen kids on the streets absolutely blow people away with incredible moves! These two showed nothing even close to those skills.
I worked at a summer camp and I had a 2nd grade kid that would always be like "I can break dance. Do you wanna see me break dance?" And then would just kind of aggressively flop to the floor and then he was done. But he was 100% serious about it, so you had to be like "wow, awesome." If these dancers work really hard for a few more years, they might be better than that 2nd grade kid and his flop move.

Am I missing something? I have seen kids on the streets absolutely blow people away with incredible moves! These two showed nothing even close to those skills.

I worked at a summer camp and I had a 2nd grade kid that would always be like "I can break dance. Do you wanna see me break dance?" And then would just kind of aggressively flop to the floor and then he was done. But he was 100% serious about it, so you had to be like "wow, awesome."
If these dancers work really hard for a few more years, they might be better than that 2nd grade kid and his flop move.

Now I’m genuinely compelled to see more Australian breakdancing. I’m really curious. Might Australians have thought that Raygun’s Olympic performance was good? What if the whole country doesn’t understand the criticism and thinks that this is not just breakdancing but good breakdancing.

I may be the first to say, I couldn’t do this. It still looks very physically demanding even if it’s not up to par with the other olympians.
