This could quite possibly be my most favorite video on the entire internet!! Every day it gets more and more nostalgic for me! I used to constantly watch it back in 5th grade when I got absolutelly obsessed with this banger of a movie! And Sayuri is literally my comfort character, I love her so incredibly much!! @Aprilshowersss "Real life" geisha dances probably aren't this dynamic because of how Americanized Japan is now, or how Americanized modern geisha dances you've seen are. I mean, a hundred years ago formal dances like waltzes and the like were incredibly elaborate, but now they're so rare that they're almost never seen, and certainly not in everyday life.
