      I guess that's where you mounted a camera at some point? (mirror). If you had trouble getting it off and not just been lazy, use soapy water and a razor blade back and fourth at a low angle, works a treat to get tough sticker residue or tough dirt off glass.

  • @2002RM
    @2002RM 6 років тому +68

    @ Motonosity: Your first ride comments are missing the real strengths of the Daytona. As mentioned, being a triple means you don't have to redline it to use the torque. The bike's strength is accelerating out of a corner. With the upgraded Ohlins on the R giving great corner entry stability, what you have is an ideal corner carver or track weapon. The lighter weight, better brakes and suspension in comparison to the R6 means you should be able to carry much better entry speed/stability and quicker exit. Most Daytona owners don't care about straightline highway speed as this is almost an irrelevance to this bike. And that's why your road test reveals almost nothing about the bike's real characteristics (apart from the induction noise).

      BlessedNoob all motorcycles have straight cut gears, ever heard an R1 getting kill switched on the roll...you can hear the gear whine and chain drive. The reason for the howl the Daytona produces is a combination of inline 3 engine with 10° crank throws with a specifically designed forced induction airbox with induction screen. Take it out and the howl will more loud.

    If I'm not mistaken it's so narrow due to engine design partially. Triple engine, ohlins suspension, great brakes, very light. Spec wise and I could be wrong the Daytona should still pull on the R6. More torque down low with a decent pull up top. I think most 675r with a full system and tune put around 127/56 plus or minus a few.

    • @JDubbleu
      @JDubbleu 6 років тому +2

      I have an 07 Daytona. It makes 130/54 due to an aftermarket exhaust and flash the previous owner did. I've pulled on some R6's but it isn't by too much. The main advantage is the bike handles much better than inline 4's due to its tall and narrow design. It also makes within 1 lb ft of torque at 4k rpm as it does at peak torque (11750 rpm).

  • @taxi615

    the reason the bike is so slim is because it's a 3 cyl engine, it has no mods (dont need them) this is way better then any 600cc class bike and can keep up with any 750 or 800 cc bike the torque is down low from the 3cyl and has very nice power at top. it's not a very comfy commuter since it's ergo's are made for track riding. It's not a bike that gets too hot in town either so it most have been very hot in town. For what you pay on these things nothing in it's class even comes close to a daytona. For those debating on getting a 675 or an R model get the R its has brembos ohlins, abs, and some carbon bits. some dealers still have 2017's in stock. in 2020 they will be launching the 765's those will be so good the moto2 bikes are beasts. Also the riding and control you have riding these bikes are outta this world it out turns anything and the power is so linear that you never get surprised. I own 3 of these and 2 are AMA track bikes that I use in the CSBK series in Canada and everyone that has tried my daytona's are either buying them or switching their track bikes for them. I might sound bias but I'm not as I have many bikes and they all do something different in their own way but from having owned just about everything the 675 is by far the bike I love to ride the most it's a perfect balance of power stability speed and cornering. The sound of it alone is pure sex. BTW your R6 will get killed by this bike R6's power is all at 13000 and a daytona makes more power out the gate and it's all down low.

    • @taxi615
      @taxi615 6 років тому

      the only reason you think the R6 is faster is the screaming up top it sounds like the engine is going to blow up I'l try to find a dyno shoot out that was made with many bikes in its class but the daytona came in second place behind the 750 but the R6 was making much less then a daytona if I find it I'll link it here.

    • @taxi615
      @taxi615 6 років тому

      they couldn't get the euro4 certification with the old set up so they took a few years break to come back with the 765 engine so expect a new daytona around 2020 with loads more power I'm expecting around 150 ish from the new one.

    • @ananthamurthy1221
      @ananthamurthy1221 6 років тому

      @@taxi615 don't you think it's too much to expect?
      If they can provide 135+ horsepower on Moto 2 bikes..will they give much more than 135 HP to road conditions?
      With loads of mods, maps and perfect environment we could see 150 on Dyno that's it! That's my take!
      But anyways you have great knowledge man!😊

    • @taxi615
      @taxi615 6 років тому

      well moto2 are restricted just like on the CSBK circuit here in Canada we cant have more then 118 RWHP on all bikes. I have one of my daytona's at 155RWHP with mods and of course the engine is all done up AMA set up. But yeah I think triumph will have their street bikes at around 140 to 155 hp, their street triple RS is already making 121 hp. so if you account that the old models were making 20 hp less then the daytona's ( 105 to 126hp) I expect to see the same from the new versions maybe a bit more. Remember all the engines as down tuned by a lot for reliability, consumption and longevity. Most bikes have about 20 RWHP lost to all of this. I would expect the bike to be lighter too.
      Of course I'm speculating but if you look at what all the new bikes are making in regards to older models this theory shouldn't be too far from the reality.

    All ive taken to the track is THIS GUY the 675R is a terror on the track. I smoke 1000's all day long in it. On the streets its just as deadly (not in a bad way). I have a 17 CBR1000 and a 18 RSV4 and when i have my buddy ride this against me i have a very difficult time on a drag race let alone tactical turns. He tops out at 161 in a pinch if you lost some weight that day in a full tuck. I ride it like i stole it ALL the time and perfected a tactic where i ride as fast as i can on the freeway and bounce every 8 exits double back get back on the freeway over and over again. Keeps the cops from following/tracking you. Works like a charm. And yes the shift light is adjustable.

    The Daytona is more user-friendly Machine than the R6... it's low end torque is much more fun than the R6. The howl you hear is made by forced induction airbox design and the 120° crank throw of the inline 3 together. That said, I'd take a 2010-2014 R6 over any modern 600. I simply can't resist the looks of it💓

I’ve owned the same r6 you have and the Daytona, and the Daytona really shines through when it comes to all around testing of the bike on back roads. The only way to tell if it was running low on gas was if it starting dying out then you'd have to flip the fuel petcock to reserve for a couple miles to the nearest gas station. 😭

    The shift light is adjustable but should be set to just above max torque so you shift into max torque each shift

    I reckon you'd be putting out more that 110hp at the wheel on the R6. Mines 120hp with exhaust, filter and dyno tune.

    I don't think that highway pulls will be the best test between this and the r6. I think some twisties or track riding would be a better test between those two beauts. Maybe the Daytona wont be faster engine wise, but it does come with premium components, like Ohlins and Brembo. Things the r6 doesn't (unfortunately) come with.
    But the steel braided lines you did should help. Did you set up the suspension on the r6 for your weight?
    It would be a very interesting comparison!

    As a Daytona triumph owner, that's a common and known sound of the engine. Just like ducati's engine noise that sounds broken.

    I really dislike that they changed the headlights to the reflector housing from the previous projector style. When I first got my Daytona, I thought the exhaust whirl was the coolest thing ever. It sounds like a jet noise mixed with a blowoff turbo valve. The narrowness of the bike is also that is hard to clasp the mind around coming from other 600s. Great vid

    Wahhhh in 1:04 into the vid and you just said they don't make the Daytona 675r anymore...
    With me between having a teen and a baby I've to change my mind on a few bikes I wanted. The very first one I wanted was the 675r. Such a perfect beginner bike. But now it's gone. Maybe I can buy chase's when he gets tired of it. Im for sure getting the Fz/Mt 07 come Jan-Feb. Just blows my mind they don't make the Daytona 675r anymore.

    I had the pleasure of riding a Daytona 675 and I loved it. I also rode a 2018 street Triple rs with the 765 in it and boy oh boy did I love that thing lol. Triumph sport bikes have a great sound, even with a stock exhaust they’re amazing.

    The lights are shift lights. for optimal torque and HP curve. Not redline. If you redline it will cut out injectors. not very optimal for speed. Redline is way past peak HP. And just hard on the motor.

    It's disappointing Triumph discontinued this bike, I've seen enough videos on YT where almost all people who reviewed it really liked the Daytona and I'd like to have one for myself sometime in the future. I Hope Triumph makes a bike with their new Moto 2 engine. Btw, you're not supposed to lane split in GA, the traffic is too atrocious for doing that.

      In it's own right, it is a better bike. For example, as an all rounder I believe it's one of the best built. Why? Because it's amongst a handful of bikes that require almost nothing out of the factory. Having an (almost) completely accurate fuel gauge and average MPG reading may not sound like a headlinr feature, until you realise that other bikes in the class (and above) don't have these basic things. If you do a lot of miles, you will see the benefit of this. Trust me. As a track bike, you choose your tyre preference, you set your suspension and go. As a touring bike or commuter, the torque really is usable everyday to the point where it just isn't a thing until you get on to another I4 600 or even some 1000CC bikes. It is not, however, faultless. Triumph stitched owners up with the first iteration of the clutch detent spring mechanism. It WILL break (get them to replace it for free). And that damn exhaust flap is a PITA. It does serve a useful function but isn't durable enough for year round riding. The rider seat/fairing connection is also flawed and prone to breaking after prolonged use which can leave you with a wobbly seat. But, truly, other than this the bike is far better than most. The main reason people tend to change this bike is to upgrade to a 1Kcc and usually because they become better riders after having the Daytona for a while. Myself, I don't know of anyone who got rid of the Daytona after buying because they just didn't get on with it. In contrast, I just turned down a new 2018 BMW S1000RR because the electronic throttle and downshifter were an unexpected issue for me. As someone who rides mostly twisty, mountain routes below 110mph, I needed more feel and sensitivity which I didn't get from the ride by wire. Not to mention that the power was almost a waste for this type of riding. So my tip is to get a bike that will best suit the type of riding you intend to do most of the time. The Daytona was much better suited.

      They are decent bikes but no one buys them so you cant really blame triumph, go past any triumph garage and all you see is their adventure bikes and those modern retro looking twins.
