Just finished this install yesterday in a Jeep Wrangler Unlimited 2016. The video is fantastic and well. Bought both the unit and the install kit from etrailer.com website. I use the cable wise and I just need a 1 feet back cable to finish everything. Thank you I can do it without your video.
Just finished this install yesterday. Went EXCEPTIONALLY well. Bought both the unit and the install kit. Lots of extra stuff in the kit that gives you several options for the installation, but it WAS missing one or two small things, such as the small pins/nuts & bolts to attach the unit holster to the bracket. It was also missing the grommet for the firewall. Minor issues, quick trip to HD fixed all problems. The unit is superb, and, if you follow all directions above, you will be fine! I was a bit nervous about drilling into the firewall, but it was a piece of cake. Hardest part is I am not a small man, and you really should be when working under the dash. Install was on a 2013 JKU (Jeep Wrangler Unlimited), just as in the video. I have some minor experience with electronics, mostly IT kind of stuff, but had no problem following the video. You will need a pretty good drill and a large bit, a crimper and stripper tool, and lots of black electrical tape. Set of American standard sockets or wrenches, and you are good to go!
Never attach the power to the battery as shown in the video. The single nut, closest to the post, is used to apply clamping force to the battery post and should not be used to connect power.
Yes, the install process in this video would be the same for your 2011 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited. The purple wire is a reverse light circuit, this circuit is typically used for reverse lockouts on trailers with surge brakes or for reverse lights.
You blazed over tapping into the white "signal wire" from the factory connector, and attaching it to the brake controller's red wire. Is this quick connector with the brake controller kit? Do you splice in? My application is a 2000 Jeep TJ so I'm just trying to see how you tap into the signal to figure out how to tap into it on my TJ.
It should so long as T@B wires their 7-way with the standard method and they have the on-board battery on that circuit. We wire up the 7-way on the vehicle to function like an OEM, factory installed 7-way would.

Make sure you look at the wiring diagram.
Video does not mention running the completely sperate power to the brake controller.

A quick connector like a 3M Skotch Lok would work the best.
If I use this setup to tow a T@B travel trailer, will this provide 12v to maintain the trailer battery while towing?
