Remember this race VERY WELL, an was astounded at his performance! He was the first one out on slicks and weathered those conditions masterfully to make up ground through the field. But then race control totally screwed him over on a shuffle back through the field after that masterful performance. Marco has taken alot of harsh criticism over the years, but it's in times like these that show his true capabilities behind the wheel.
Andretti is the kind of driver you would want to drive first on a track like Belle Isle when whet, so he can race the perfect racing line dry first for you to follow. So massively skilled.
What amazes me is the control he has on the straights. When the condition are as far away from light rain as they are from downpour, you're stuck in the middle with an unpredictable result and it really shows what you can and you cannot do on a regular basis. He seems to have no struggle with the wheel and even when he has he corrects it immediately. You would think he's come straight off of years of F1.
Edward Adrenaline Nash Partly down to having more downforce on the straights because of higher speeds. It's those mid and low speed corners which are mindblowing, and how he gets the car turned in at the end of the last straight
Belle Isle Detroit Racetrack does not allow for even the slightest margin of error. Tremendous racing skill on display here. Always highly exciting to watch IndyCar especially around tracks such as Belle Isle Detroit.

A podium for driving around in the other half of the field, because he wasn´t fast enough to challenge for a top spot in the first place? Race control made the right decision in my opinion. Instead of punishing the frontrunners for doing the regular strategy, they gave them the opportunity to keep the damage caused by the yellow at a minimum.
This, or his 360 spin at Detroit where he kept going. Or one of several of Ferrucci's moves this year. As an old, I'm just sitting here thinking "Whoa. when's the last time Italian Americans impressed us in American open wheel racing"

Could be he wasn't carrying the speed required for the shift so you run the limiter so when you do shift you don't lose engine speed when the tyres grip!
He was using throttle to warm us the tires by spinning them in low gears. Obviously he isn't the best wet weather driver, but was doing what he could to get heat into the rears.
Graham Welch if you heat up the rear tire's with out the fronts it throws the balance way off lift earlier maintain a higher gear to try to roll as smoothly as you can to the corner. Softens the throttle hit to get hooked up better. Create a much quicker smoother lap
Sadly there are people more impressed with a person that's able to hit a ball in a hole from 10 feet away. The skill seen here is something else and it's good to be around people that appreciate it.

I was watching how he turns/contols the steering wheel relative to the car's movement, absolutely nothing like a regular car! I'd have that car in a wall within the first 5 seconds of driving it.
Betting on a full course yellow i thought. Doesn't mather how much time he looses warming them up. FCY and he's back in the game and on the tire towards what the track is evolving. As i saw it, not an indy coneseur
