The fun fact about the yelling of JET SET RADIO when finishing a tag is only present in the PAL version of the game while the NTSC version has the regular jingle.
Port patrol is easily the most underrated gaming channel on UA-cam, and I'm glad to see I'm not the only person fascinated by ports like these.

Man I’ve never played the gba version before and only played the non-future version like once, but still I can instantly recognize and recall the zones that the gba version is trying to recreate; that’s actually really impressive.
Dang, gotta appreciate those full 360 sprites on the GBA version; really beautiful work, especially considering the system limitations.
donning my nerd emoji glasses here, but they're actually extremely low detail 3D models, crunched down because of the screen size.
(4:26) It only plays that sound in the PAL versions on the game. The North American version plays the OG sound effect. It also fixed some of the name problems, like how the European version of the game accidentally calls tab corn (as in, jsrf), mew bif, and slate soda (again, jsrf).
Corn and Soda are both the original Japanese names for Tab and Slate respectively but from what I'm aware of, Mew's OG name is Bis. The spelling mistake may be a result of mistranslation or just a simple typo

I have the US version of this and it has the standard graffiti jingle from the Dreamcast version. What were they thinking replacing it with a pitched down Jet Set Radio in Europe?!

I only played Future I never got my hands on the original. I didn't have a Dreamcast and I don't know that it came out on any other console. JSRF is easily one of my favorite childhood games and one of the prettiest games I've ever played.
I dunno why, but I genuinely love the sound of the GBA versions. The compression just sounds kinda nostalgic I guess? Sonic Rush’s soundtrack kinda has that same compressed gritty sound and it’s one of my all time favorite OSTs too lmao

Honestly given the ROM size and limitations I think Manfred Linzner did a ok job porting the music to the GBA. It's not perfect recreations but atleast they arent crunchy generic midi tracks.

You should take a look at the Max Payne GBA port for this show! It's actually not bad.
Just started Jet Set Radio HD a couple days ago. Gotta say, it's a lot more impressive than people give it credit for. Sure the gameplay isn't perfect but what game is? The graphics, sound, and characters give off such a unique vibe that you can't help but love it. I just wish there was a Jet Set Radio Future HD to play when I'm done!

Jet Set Radio no necesitaba una versión portable, simplemente no funcionaba en una consola inferior como la Gameboy pero le trataron de sacar todo el jugo que tenía está franquicia pero lamentablemente Sega nunca a sabido como tratar una franquicia que no sean Sonic pq hay que aceptar que la compañía tiene unas franquicias pero de las GOD como la de Billy Hatched, House of the dead, Monkeyball, etc

This version does not control very well in my opinion. In the original, you would just push the stick in the direction you want to go, but in this version for some reason you have to turn yourself around like a tank. It's not like tony hawk where the exact direction matters for tricks or whatever, most grinds seem to be in those rigid 8 directions anyway. And the primary goal of the game is to just get to locations and spray them. I don't feel like being able to go around in every direction was so important that they had to make the controls more awkward.
I'm still angry for not receiving more Sega games on DS, it was really a wasted opportunity
i mean, gba was pretty powerful for being a handheld, just take a look at resident evil 2 or even max payne on it

It was cool but doom took a neet aproch without loosing it's 3d but still I like this game but I'd rather play jsrf but jgr on ps n dream cast is nice plus q3 onda DC note but yeah as far as gba I loved it but the controlz take a lil getting used to but it is still a great in my book

why didint they pute jet set radio on the psp not gba the psp have evry thing a dreamcasthas 2 trigers a c stick and 4 botons and arow pad and i think the psp is more powefull then the dream cast the gba has no c stick and minsing 2 bottons and cant even handel n64 games

It is interesting, yes, but the controls are fucked up in my opinion, it's like playing a resident evil, fucking tank controls.
The tank controls do take a bit of getting used to, but being able to glide round corners and such feels nice and more 'rollerbladey'? I think if you could just turn in 8-directions, it would kinda take away from that feeling
