I've used modern basestars which ran out of missiles kamikaze style. Jump two near a battlestar. One basestar hacks the fire control, while the other hacks the engines. The one hacking engines catches up to the battlestar and rams the fracker Pegasus style. Glorious.
The power of a Battlestar. The only reason the cylons wiped out colonial fleet was because of that virus they used. Otherwise they wouldn't have stood a chance against the Jupiters much less the Mercurys
Agreed...though with resurrection and the ability to build more Centurions, the Cylons would have had a near-endless supply of cannon fodder. At least, they would have until the human models began experiencing the birth/life/death/rebirth cycle over and over and over again. Eventually, I would anticipate that they would find the cycle more and more horrific the more they experienced it.

Hunt them long enough and either the Cylons back off or the Colonials find the Resurrection Hub.
I dont believe it would be as close as people think. In the right situation, one single Basestar can obliterate a Battlestar. And with Tactical FTL Jumps, a Basestar could easily out-maneuver a battlestar. Plus Colonial Ships are just as vulnerable to Electronic Warfare without the CNP.

Its worth noting that this would be perfectly winnable for the Cylons with better AI. The basestars could have shot their missles one-by one, instead of salvos, to keep their ammunition for later, while flanking the battlestar from both sides so it can't block rocket attacks anymore. I am not sure how the tactical jump on the new basestars work, but I believe with that they could have surrounded the battlestar even sooner. I think AI could get a bit of an upgrade, cause loosing with so huge advantage is rather laughable.
Yea the focus on missiles in the Cylon fleet is the one reason why ONE Battlestar just can sit there, wait until they run out of shit to throw at them and then just plow through them like a hot knife through butter xD Spacedock has a nice Video about why the whole of the cylone empire failed to destroy Galactica until she just rottet away due to age. Also its pretty fun to get close enough to just wreck ships with your flak field :D
Unless protecting something or delaying the enemy fleet till your own fleet arrives...that lone BattleStar should have left while it still retained its strength and full load of armaments and Vipers...
What I'm thinking happened in this scenario is that it was another battlestar that was able to escape the destruction of the colonies and got caught while its FLT spun back up. With the Viper MK1's I think she might have had them with her only to transfer them to a scrap yard. Idk that's what I was thinking
Well if you jump in to knife fighting range with the basestars you can hack enemy ships, disgorge all your fighters on top of their fleet, and dump your munitions point blank into battlestars. Everyone plays the modern basestars from long range like in the show, but their actually better used almost more like the cratus. With the huge ftl range they have and hull regen, you can jump in, dump all your fighters and missiles. At this distance you can also hack the enemy, which is one of the few offensive options these basestars even have so you should use it to its fullest. Once you start taking too much return fire jump away to safety. Then its just a matter of recalling and repairing squadrons and repeating.
Galactica Viper pilots: does Turkey shoot when Sharon shuts down the attacking Raiders. Battlestar Tirana's gun crews: Hold my Fracking Ambrosia. Shame the Tirana couldn't help Galactica and Pegasus during the Resurrection Ship battle lol
Hold on, i hope yall take note that in one of the shots in B&C the Galactica had way too many turrents but was corrected in later shots and they never caught the inconsistancy.

@@Rouxkat My pleasure! Make sure if you get Deadlock you also get Broken Alliance DLC. It integrates into the main campaign and can only be played if you start a campaign with the DLC. All other DLCs are separate campaigns or ship packs and don't have this issue.
I get that networking is a deadly taboo but... maybe run the fire control software on something a little newer than Windows 95? The main guns are less accurate that WW1 naval fire.
I took my peggy up against 5 or 6 basestars last month. All with 4 squadrons of modern raiders a piece against my 2 mk 7s...a tremendous cylon embarrassment lol

i know its a game, would you win automatically when they stop shooting and there are no more raiders? if this were the show they would have just jumped away when they ran out of ammo....nah, ill just hang around and get blown up
Well, if the AI wasn’t silly, then the basestars could close on the battlestar and hack it. 3 modern basestars with fully powered techbays will bring any ship to a grinding halt very quickly with hacking. Then its just a matter of escorting the drifting ship out of the play area or just ramming it with a basestar.
@@OneAvidGamer Galactica was one of the only ships to survive the outbreak of the second cylon war because her antiquated computer systems were not networked together and thus could not be hacked to the point of complete system faliure. In the series at a point there was a necessity for the computers to be networked together. Adama was not happy about that. And they did come under hacking attack during this.

@@OneAvidGamer yeah. This is nonsense in my opinion. None of the ships in the first cylon war had integrated computer networks. Hence why everyone was surprised by the fact that two raiders could disable an entire wing of MK VIIs. But i agree, its a game. I tend to overthink stuff like that.

Though the cylon Dorral (idk how its spelt) does mention in the intro to the miniseries that during the first cylon war they had to regress their technology due to cylon cyber warfare, which implies the prior presence of integrated computer networks aboard colonial warships, at least during the earlier stages of the war. And admittedly the base game is set in the early years of the first cylon war so it would make sense for networks to be present, although I have to agree it makes no real sense for later designs such as the two Jupiter classes to posses such networking, due to the timing of their introduction (at least according to general consensus) assuming we ignore that deadlock is canon and that must mean that the jupiters were later retrofitted to have no networks, (wheres as prior to deadlock we all assumed that jupiters were designed with no networks from the ground up)

@@Rot-5 Most of Ash Gibson Greig's music tracks are locked when you first start the game. They unlock as you reach specific campaign missions. This specific track, Tripartite, only unlocks when you start its associated campaign mission in the Armistice DLC.

The Mark I Vipers didn't last long - but long enough to bait the Cylon squadrons into the Jupiter's flak.

Wouldn't a intercepted cylon nuke going off in the flak cloud wipe out the rest of the incoming cylon missile salvo?
We don't talk about nuclear fallout or the secondary kinetic/wave damage...
Since space is a vacuum, the only kind of shockwave would be casing fragments hurled from the nuke explosion.

I will try that. No promises about its possibility of success, though. The Mercury has a far smaller flak field compared to the Jupiter's.
