Hi! Thanks for this amazing tutorial!!! It helped a lot!!! Question: I am working on 2016 and it doesn't have the "Original" option... How can I sort that out? Thanks
Hi, do you have any clue on how to make fractures only on impact? For example fracturing a kinematic sphere, then fracturing when it hits an object? Also does this program have classical physics cuz the spheres keep going without damping its acceleration & gravity should actually make it come to a stop.
Hey, love this tutorial but ive hit a problem, instead of using a standard box like you have ive got a object with different components, so I grouped them together, when I get to the procutter part and select the stock object and click my object it comes up with error box saying invalid Boolean & check for self intersection ? any ideas what I could do ?
Hi Kayleigh, sorry you're having issues. I'm not entirely sure of a fix from the top of my head, I could take a look at your scene if you wanted to send it my way though?
What you can do is set the fragments to be kinematic instead of dynamic. Then there should be a little checkbox in the modify tab near the top that says "Until frame" simply check this box and set it to the frame you want the explosion to be on. This will basically make the fragments static until the frame you specify, then they will release and explode.
Hey, glad it works. You are better off rendering as an image sequence in case you encounter an error and lose everything, but nevertheless, you can render it to an .avi or .mov by going to: Rendering > Render Setup > Click Files under Render Output > Save as type: (Choose format/ name/ save location) > Then save and hit the render button at the bottom of the render setup window.
Goosh Ka I have an additional question, how can I control the time of shatter, I added an airplain with dummy, and when the airplain collide the structure then the structure will be shattered, do you know how can i delay the time of the shatter?
Goosh Ka Hey, sorry for the delayed response... I think you can set the rigid body type from dynamic to kinematic. Then under that is an "until frame" tick box where you can specify when the kinematic body becomes a dynamic one. Hope that helps / works!
Great tutorials if you are an avid 3ds max user, however, a few steps were unexplained which made it hard to understand for beginners such as myself. If I may suggest for future tutorials you will have that will tremendously help beginners such as myself as after watching this tutorial, I still had to figure out the steps on my own which was a bit frustrating especially if the tutorial was supposed to teach how to simply do what you just did. I would simply suggests to show all the steps and explained what these steps will help to create so beginners can follow along while understand why such steps are important in order to create the end result because for Avid users they will already know what to do but for us beginners, we would have to figure it out which then wouldn't be a tutorial anymore because I know I had to restart the project dozens of times to simply understand what was not explained properly. Nonetheless, thanks for the tutorial and taking the time to make one.
It would be really, really helpful if you would tell people that it requires the script at the very beginning of the tutorial and where it can be downloaded. It DOES NOT come stock with 3DSM. Frustrating to get half way through this and have to stop to look for the script...
Yeah.... however, that's not a REAL massFx fragmentation. MassFx is a collision engine basicaly, it doesnt fragment bodys, except cloth ripping, up to max 2015 at least. The thing is... that you basicaly have a Voronoi fragmentation, waiting (sleep mode) to explode, and that can create some issues like, if you do this to a glass bottle for ex, you'll see the hard edges of the fracture before it hapens, at least on realistic render. So you have to do some kind of blending, rigid to fracture.
Sa. TNice tutorials quarantine is making question my whole existence.
Very nice and step by step tutorial. Thanks JB!
This really helped me for my iMedia course and will help with my portfolio! Subbed and thanks for uploading!
how do i use script... im new to autodesk :P also it wont let me use the "original" shape and custom breaks it (it acts like its not there)
great tutorial, one question, my elements still dont 'explode' just fall down with the gravity.. what am I doing wrong ?
You need to add Pbomb to the system. Write me If you don't understand I'll explain.
Hi! Thanks for this amazing tutorial!!! It helped a lot!!!
Question: I am working on 2016 and it doesn't have the "Original" option...
How can I sort that out?
Thanks
It worked! Tank you sir.
Great! But how can I add a delay for the explosion?
I have had the hardest ti finding a video on soft that actually made sense to (I'm brand new with literally zero knowledge) and tNice tutorials
Can i do the same thing with a cube ?
Well made, but I had seen the castle destruction very gladly. Can you tell me if this is online anywhere? Thanks dude!

Would you? that would be great thanks :) how can I send it to you ?
Of course, can't guarantee I'll be able to figure it out! But I can have a go. Drop me an email at jordanpbannister@gmail.com
super awesome tut - thanks!
Why does your plane have a grid? Whil mine is plane
Some shortcut can enable/disable it, i dont remember what shortcut it is right now, i can get back to you soon if you'd like to know what it is! :)
The shortcut is 'G'
It doesnt use auto key, how I render the explosion scene?

1:48 seconds in you jump so damn fast you can't tell whats going on. Remember this is a tutorial.
I'm new to 3d and I dont no which one to go with, 3Ds max or Blender? I got 3ds Max student version but it's 11gb and blender is so small.
Just curious: which one did you went for? :)
(I am a Max user)
Dee - Dorottya Horvath I went with Max even though it took me a while to download. Went with Max mainly because it's industry standard
it works but how can I render it as a short movie???any answer?
