Love the sweet, mick tucker is one of my fav drummers , they were way beyond their hits in the charts , of all the glam bands the sweet were one of the most talented 🏴 happy healthy peace ✌️
Great track - one of my favourite bands in the 70s. I saw them live in a small venue in Melbourne and they were brilliant - much heavier than their poppy image. Check out some of the songs from the Musikladen concert, especially Sweet F.A. Set Me Free is another favourite, and if you do Love Is Like Oxygen, please do the long version (that was on the same album as this song - Desolation Boulevard).
A great band, Sweet, it's a pity that they didn't get global success, really big in the U.K. The other band which you were trying to think of Chris might have been, 'Mud' as some of their early hit were written by Chin and Chapman.
Chinn & Chapman's finest composistion for Sweet,a more mature grown up sound, came after "Teenage Rampage" i think?,which Andy Scott thought was a bit of a let down after "Ballroom Blitz",Chinn & Chapman's last hit song they wrote for Sweet was "Turn It Down" a far feavier sound, but banned by the BBC because of tbe lyrics ""For God's Sake",not long after,Sweet ventured out on their own with their own composition "Fox On The Run",re-recorded from their album "Desolation Boulevard",which was mentioned in "The Six-Teens,"Fox On The Run" album version was far heavier & raw & longer, when Chinn & Chapman 1st heard the re-recorded version, they said " You've Done It" kind of praising them,& cheekily saying," You've To Follow That Up Though"

Is one of my fav LPs of anyone ....just great stuff - recommended .
Check out their live stuff from Musikladen 1974. Songs like Solid Gold Brass, Breakdown, Sweet F.A. , Man With The Golden Arm and No You Don't. They really are heavy at that show. Another great song are Spotlight from their debut album. The rest of that album are quite commercial but Spotlight are really heavy. Written by themselves.
When I went to see the Sweet last December, Andy went off stage while the rest of the band did a medley of funny funny, Coco and popa Joe and when Andy came back he said we did get better 🤣
Btw, it’s the law when a sweet track is played then a Slade one has to follow 😉🤣 so I’d like to request their 1983 uk No.2 My oh My, should have been their 7th No.1 but held off by a novelty song
I've just watched a documentary on Neanderthal and had to check in the mirror and i don't think i have 3% Neanderthal DNA judging by my eyebrows and nose i reckon it's got to be closer to 75/80% . I'm going back to my cave now to work on that new fangled fire thing

Best Glam Rock Band ever
Mike Chapman also wrote Simply the best. Known by Tina Turner. But originally by Bonnie Tyler.

Very under rated.
Yes, very
was listening to a full Sweet CD yesterday. Great stuff. _Lies In Your Eyes_ is a bit of a masterpiece
Woohoo - thank you so much for reviewing this amazing tune. May I suggest Turn it Down or Lies in Your Eyes as heavier options.
A few of my Favourite Sweet songs are Action , Fox on the Run and Fever of Love…. Grew up loving these guys in College.

Mick with his signature drum stick twirl but this Should have been a bigger hit than it was
Great live performance and band is great band to band
You guys ought to try the album Sweet Fanny Adams by the Sweet where they move into a much harder rock direction.
Thankfully Andy is still with us.

i saw them in a pub in melbourne australia -and they were amazing even then ....harmonys were magic
What year was this?
They came to a pub in Brissy too in late 90's with just Andy, perhaps Mick as well?. (Brian had passed and Steve was on his own)

Good band ,the sweet.
Brilliant Sweet. This is the tune that influenced Jack and Diane by Mellancamp from what I heard.
I can see the similarities.
Haven't heard this for ages and had the same thought
Come on Haniers, 'Set Me Free'. You know you want to
I always liked The Sweet. I don't think that they did any bad songs and I loved their stuff from later that they self penned!

If you ever listen to the Man with the Golden Arm by the Sweet you will be amazed in another way
Absolutely
What a hook machine The Sweet was
I think this is one of their better songs.
I'm sure this is a Chin/Chapman track but I could be wrong. It's a great track anyways.
It was the song that Chinn Chapman wrote that they liked the most.
Great reaction Hanier's! Try BUZZCOCKS 16 again! It's a punk-pop classic!
I think that band you are trying to remember is Mud with Tiger Feet
Dynamite was great too !
the favorite song of singer Brian Connolly…so they played it on his funeral 1997….great tune..anyway
70's Glam.....There had never been anything like it, and there never will be again.
Check out Windy City
Superb band and song Can we have a reaction to Action or Lady Starlight please? Chris are you working out those arms mate?
Please react to Good morning freedom, by , Blue Mink. That's a great uplifting song, that rings the bells of happiness.
