Angeles City Philippines
About me : Retired American Expat Brian & Filipina wife Luisa, living in the Angeles City / Clark Pampanga Philippines.
Looks like the parrot from Beretta. Glad to see businesses re-open. You are spot on in that they have to re-open. Walking St. will never be the same. Without tourist, it will not survive. Stay safe, sane, & healthy.
Hi Brian. Just to let you know the money rate varies according to government spending basically.
The US ( and the UK, where I am from!), have been borrowing extra trillions to pay for fighting covid.
The money market doesn't like that!
That's why the dollar went down mainly.
The UK pound has dropped from nearly 72 pesos to around 62pesos. Big hit on my measly pension😮😪😪 Not all because of covid, went down a lot, when Britain voted to quit the European Union.
Thanks for the walk around, being over 60 not even allowed to enter our one and only supermarket now. The first two months was fine, no problems, had the pass etc. Now, no way!
All the best from Pangasinan
Wow.. I live and vlog here in La Union Philippines... I was wondering why it's so low.. good explanation!!
Brian...The famous one direction STOP sign!!!!
I really appreciate your updates on AC. Keep up the great vlogs!!
Another fascinating video. Thank you very much!
Thanks my friend this was a really great video. It makes me feel so good to see this and hear this. Keep up the good work. Lets all hope walking street opens up again. sending Love & support Friend From NYC😀👍
Goodmorning Sir Brian. Another day another life that never ends in the fast lane. Enjoy the day brother. Thanks for tagging us along. Take Care.
Even if they open they aren’t gonna make any money til they open up tourism and international flights with no quarantine
Hello Brian, nice to see you in your you tube channel again! I really feel going back to Angeles City EVERYTIME i see the place in your vlog. I miss my place Angeles City sooo much!
Brian thanks for the look around and always the up date of the Peso
My brother thank you for all your hard work you do
I followed and gave orders for 30 years, now I say "F" the orders, I am my own person these days answerable to no one but me.
Hey Phillies! Im that white truck @0:56 and @3:30 (where I saw you crossing) Shoutout to you sir! Your subscriber here! 🙌🏼
Been following your posts here. Very informative, too. "Rumor Control" has international flights returning after January, 2021. So, planning a February return myself. Looking forward to having more VFW Canteen meals as well as lots of spaghetti and excellant lasagna from Blue Boar Inn!! Keep safe!!!!!!
Thanks for sharing Angeles City to the world.👌👌👌
Take Care of yourself Brain. Keep Safe. God Bless. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for the walk and talk Brian.
Good day Sir Brian 😎 very cool and this is the episode that I wanted to know finally Margarita Station is open and I hope I will be there this month with my family thanks for update God bless 🙏
thanks a lot for making this video. I was actually planning a trip for when summer ended, now I may have to move it to December/January, but that's better than coming and having nothing to do!
Enjoying your channel, Brian!
Thank you for the tour, looks like it’s slowly coming back to normal! I don’t blame some places if they don’t wanna open anymore😌 all business were affected so badly😌
You’re always precise👍
Brian, near the end of the video you were mentioning the fact that you had no idea about why/how the exchange rate goes up/down. I've lived here for almost 17 years now, four in Angeles and the rest in and around Mindanao. We've lived in three different places since we moved here in 2008. But I digress.
The exchange rate, although it is supposed to float with the market, often does not. Some fluctuations make no sense whatsoever and I tie those into currency manipulation by the Philippine government. The times when the dollar/peso rate goes down seem to coincide with 1) OFW inflows of dollars, 2) whenever the price of oil goes down (the Philippines uses dollars to buy oil because pesos are not accepted but they don't have to buy up dollars when the price is lower because they keep a good supply of dollars on-hand at the Banco Central), and 3) when a CHMMP occurs and wrecks the world economy.
That's my laymen's understanding of how the currency exchange rates work here in the Philippines. Also, you'll notice that the Euro and the Pound are ALWAYS rated better than the dollar. That has to do with the fact that the Philippines has big investments in the EU and Britain and they inflate the currency so it's cheaper to do business. Sorry this ran on so long. Hope you will have time to read it.
Wow.. I live and vlog here in La Union. I also wondered why it's so low?? Good answer!
Glad to see you're keeping well. Just watched, 'Jumping Places' UA-cam vlog from El Nido, Palawan. Looks like paradise. There must be powerful reasons for anyone to live or visit Angeles city? Stay safe.
Wow. Nice trip down memory lane. Amazing to see the same bars still there. I was a regular in AC from mid 90's to 2003 for work. Company had a facility on Clark. I think my last time there was Nov. 2003. Angle Witch was my home bar but it wasn't Angle Witch then. It was Illusions then Private Dancer back then. Same owner. German guy named Wolfe. They had the best pool table in town. Great memories in that bar and on Fields.
an american guy bought private dancer named tony changed the name boys night out
They have to choose die of covid or die of famine. Even in USA if you divide the total population by total of covid deaths, it was 0.039 % as of last week. Not even 1 %. And thank you for the walk around.
That's why there has to be some SURREPTITIOUS reason why all these anti-liberty measures are being coerced on the public, theres something OFFICIALS are keeping from the citizens
Pretty sure the rates are connected with the price of oil/gas in the US markets.
Nice walk.👍👍👍👌
Is this the friendliest country in the world? Incredible people you meet on your walks.
@@daniel-ws5cn I don't think saying hi equates being friendly. Filipinos are friendly and helpful in general especially to foreign people when you approach them, but saying hi to a random stranger seem unnecessary (also most of the time they just shy so yeah)
It's so funny that where you ended this video, I was pick pocketed by 2 young beauties last November. It was raining and I tipped a few at La bamba's. Luckily they only got my fake wallet with a few hundred pesos and not my money belt with thousands! Time for a road trip! Bryan!!! Peace out!
Thanks Brian!!
Looks like the "GIRL SCRATCHING HER CROTCH" video is doing really GOOD! Maybe U should go around WALKING STREET MORE often to find more GIRLS scratching their CROTCHES😆🤣
So sad to see the Angeles City Economy Decimated by the lock downs I was their from October 2019 when it was alive! I left Angeles City in April 2020 I really feel for the girls family's this area helped support.
I know Phillipines misses us American tourists really bad now
nice goin m8, stay safe an well eh! btw, i heard a rumour the other day that the american navy is coming back to subic bay sometime soon. not sure how true or when.
Watching from Covina California,Wow the streets are so dead I hope it goes back to the way it was for people’s sake 🇵🇭🇺🇸👍
bloody great video i enjoy u shows u lost weight walking
That bar forced closed was the Diamond sports bar on perimeter rd!
2:55 UPDATE as of July 7th on international flights: they will resume starting at July 8.. BUT big downside is travel remains restricted for foreign tourist (as of July 7th) means foreign nations still cannot enter the Philippines until further notice :(
I am surprised to found out that the pawn shop in the corner of Mt. View is gone and it is now a fruit store. A lot of things changed already in Angeles city, except for the famous STOP sign 🤣😂
I can`t imagine walking street without the foreigners....and the same for all of the hotels in the vicinity.
Am I the only one who notices quite a few people not wearing masks as well as a lot of people have one but are not covering there face go figure. Nice update today on walking street and currency rate, be safe and see you on the next vlog.
Hi Brian was wondering can you video Moons Bar and British Bar in Diamond Subd. Great job keep safe.
Nice
This is your new norm and all we torn down in some months or a year!
Hey Brian...keep up the great work.... Cambodia sells the knockoffs for $2 or less for 4 tabs....and I'm gonna say they are from India (kamagara) I think
I said it about 3 months ago here on this channel....I think it will stay closed.. I think we have seen the end of walking street...
Yes i agree
Hey Brian, I hope Lot Lot, Hannah Grace and yourself are doing good.
Having my wife and family in Mandaluyong and not being able to get there from Canada yet is really hard to deal with at times. I'm very worried for them and all the people in Metro Manila, you probably know the cases are getting higher there. Thankfully I'm financially able to take care of things there for them right now.
Is Angeles City still 0 cases?
I haven't spent time in Angeles City, just landed and took off from Clark once, but following your channel for the last few years I have become familiar with Angeles City, Dao, and other places you have taken us in videos. Seeing walking street like this is shocking to see because it ....was....such a hub of energy 6 months ago. It's sad knowing how much this damn virus is effecting the Philippines in such a negative way. So many people are out of work and the longer this drags on the worse it's going to get. I just hope and wish for a vaccine to be found soon. The problem being not all countries will be in a situation to be able to afford the vaccine, nor will the people in those same countries. That's scary because it means that the damn virus will just continue on mutating. I know the people that can afford the vaccine there will most likely get it even though most Filipinos are scared of vaccines because of the scare a few years ago with the 'contaminated' vaccine that so many people in the Philippines had gotten. I will be making sure that my wife and family there will have the vaccine when it is available, I'm sure you'll do the same for Lot, HG, and the immediate family of Lot's that are there with you at the store and at home. Please keep safe my friend.
Thanks for the walk along walking street. It just didn't seem the same.
Peace, Happiness, Love and Laughter,
Keep Safe All,
-Matt
Brian, the exchange rate changes based on supply and demand. Who’s exporting now-a-days from the Philippines? Also, not much travelers leaving the country. OFW remittances are down. Many businesses are still shut down, a lot will never open their doors again. Tourism is at an all time low. Wonder how long it will take for the Philippine economy to recover with the stringent COVID 19 policy?
when I was a kid the exchange rate was 1 dollar = 7 pesos, and we thought that was high!
Does the walking strip open up at night? If it's the same way at night. That's not good at all.
I have a flight to Angeles end of August.. hope things get better 🙌🏼
U better CANCEL that flight now and get your MONEY back
Places like Pattaya and Angeles won't be up and running by the end of August. Try mid November, and it could even be as late as February or March next year. No point to even consider booking anything at this stage.
What else in in AC besides the bars? What attracts people there?
Bars and foreign restaurants... That's all Angeles has to offer travelers.
only the girls mate trust me
Brian i was told by my travel agent the international flights may not be available until September or October she’s been staying in constant contact with me because she’s setting up our flights to move to Cebu hopefully by February we’ll be there? If not we’ll wait
Hard to run a bar with the covid rules and social distancing. Even restaurants will be hard but if it is like here in Canada they can have outside patios for dine in. Not sure what they will do about bars here yet.
That Stall for rent - perfect place to open another sari sari store !
Exactly, all developing nations must reopen. We are the Heads you win, and Tails I lose phase. Choose one, and let's move forward.
International flights into Manila starting 8 July but from a limited number of airlines and countries. People need to check their airlines in order to make connections with those few allowed. Japan is new that is allowed.
Hey I’m a vaper in the US and would like to see that vape shop or maybe you could pop in during 1 of your walk n talk vlogs down waking street. Also, do you still vape ? If you do where do you buy your e liquid or do you make your own. Just wondering and great vlog that cockatiel was beautiful. Thanks
I saw in one of your earlier videos that some of Walking Street's bars had undergone recent renovations, this would indicate that, at some future stage they will reopen. Maybe not all bars will reopen simply due to current and immediate ongoing lack of income (due to covid closure) could have caused financial difficulties for Owners/Investors, hence non-renewal of some existing leases. I've heard, through the "Grapevine" that International Flights and Tourist Visas may start being permitted by September / October this year. Personally, I have no intention to travel anywhere till the COVID Vaccine has been released.
Wait 'till next year.
I feel bad for all the people living in that area.. with so many things shut down.. money must be very tight. But then again money is tight all over the world at this moment.
MindSpace Invader can’t even sell sex there at the moment!
Why are the bars on Walking Street not taxed?
I took some of that stuff once i had a headache for four days
Tough luck for you, Philly, you are stranded there. You should move to Thailand where the bars and nightlife are open now. They will accept tourists on Aug 1 where incoming international flights are allowed to open.
It's not tough
It will always be Fields Ave to me..
That bar was in makati. That got closed down .
The Philippines has been receiving international flights, although not from all countries. Terminal one has been open for some time and on July 8th, terminal 3 will open to ease congestion at terminal one. Although limited by airline, flights to the Philippines can be obtained. Check with airlines.
keep in mind though, travel remains restricted for foreign tourist (as of July 7th) until further notice..
Another Channel said flights will continue in December but who knows
Hey Philly are you living there or you're stranded here from Covid?
The rate is going to continue downwards into mid-thirties. The billions in debt to China is coming due. Those loans only get paid by exchange rate manipulation. Please look at the history of the Thai Baht. Same pattern is slowly emerging in The Philippines.
Petey - I hope you're dead wrong. I was here when the exchange rate went down to the low 40's and I was considering packing up the fam and moving back to the states then. If the 30's are happening, the thousands of expats living here on their retirement and SS checks are going to be leaving for other lands.
Do u think by December 2020 I can fly there?! Hope to meet your family. Need to see my Tatay in Baguio. 🇵🇭🇺🇸
Grand Central is my favorite there. The tourism department says they want to attract tourist who spend more money.. they don't understand why people visit the Philippines.. We have beaches in our own countries.. without places like walking street tourism will go down probably 80%.
1K for four pills is cheap, but... that stuff doesn't work the same.
@@jasonhutt9117 Seems they want the bars closed from everything I have heard... well.. what can you do..
They gotta open up international flights soon Brian or a lot of people and cities will be out of money and destitute !!
Hello Mountain View my Home Town.
Wow I found this Video really interesting, I was stationed in Clark AB from 1989-1991 when Mt Pinatubo blew up, I left, I went back for the Centennial Celebration, but I have not been back since, and it looks like EVERYTHING has changed, the only thing I even recognized was Magaritas. And even that place looks different. I wish you would take more time and go farther down Fields Ave, give me some reference points. I used to live in Santa Maria Balibago, Which if I am right is like right around the corner from where you stopped the video, I felt like I was just starting to recognize places when you stopped the Video. I don't think there is a single bar that has the same name as when I was there. Does the Train still run through there? It used to when I lived there. But this was really interesting. I noticed an Alley way you walked buy that looks like a bunch of bars were destroyed, do you know the story behind that? Thanks.
The train doesn't run anymore however, they are bringing it back soon. It's one of the government's projects. I also live here in Angeles City.
The alley that you mentioned used to be where the train tracks were.
I think the train never ran again after pinatubo
You must remember the crazy shit bruce at airwolf was always up to
It is obvious that all the bars are closed on Walking Street......there are zero tourists, haven't been for 3 months. The bars were not patronized by locals; all the patrons were foreign tourists. There's no point opening until foreigners can again travel to the Philippines. The city will issue permits to the bars when the Immigration dept. again issues 'visa on arrival'. It seems obvious to me...it is hardly a mystery.
There are enough ex-pats living here to support a handful of bars, but that's about it. Personally, I think this correction will be good in the long run for the Angeles Bar scene. There were too many bars, and not enough customers. Sometimes less is more, and in this case, I think fewer quality bars will be better than a ton of crappy bars.
Can we travel from bulacan up to dau yet?
I notice as you walk down walking street I see maybe high rise condo near, can you give me a name of the condo builder? If not too much trouble.
I see the stores are back on the side walk like before u cant even walk some many stores how soon people forget ahh
Let it close, will definitely see the Koreans go someplace else. And prices will drop in Angeles significantly.
I know it’s a bit of an ask but sometime could you travel to Balanga city and video a tour around town?
I go to Balanga city all the time...its a nice town..we live in Dinaluphian
I live part of the year in our home in Balanga. Hope to be there by November.
@@Marker44 sorry to break it it will not open until 2021.
In many countries its not just a case of being safe and having no job, its also having no food. It also means early death of malnutrition and related complications, death if you cant afford private health care in emergency etc. The longer this is going on the more I'm feeling that the decision makers don't have sufficient data in front of them when making decisions.
Good day .
I'm back!!! Who dare strikes again!! Is Brian really dare??😉😁
Not sure how I missed this video, but I watched it now. Why do some people feel this urge to correct others over something so silly as saying "the" walking street, instead of simply walking street? I mean, it is THE walking street, because literally any street you can walk down would be a walking street. But, you are talking about THE walking street and it seems perfectly acceptable to refer to it as THE walking street, to differentiate THE walking street from just another street to walk down, as opposed to THE walking street. Hahaha. Gee, I hope I didn't offend those " know it all" types that jump on you for saying THE walking street, by saying THE walking street, too. Haha. Either way, you should always be careful walking down any street, but especially when walking down THE walking street. Haha, just had to throw in one more to show you support.
Does anyone check on the lady you called homeless Anna?
other video's of walking street show the night life looks pretty active...
many of those videos were filmed before the lock down and posted now
Wow, the girl walking pass you at 11.28 in your film, "question" is that the new normal for the Philippines? That philipina is thick and built like a western girl. Usually philipina's have a small frame. I just want to get your thoughts and opinions on the subject. Thanks
There's plenty of THICK Filipinas, it depends how THICK you want them😆 I personally think FILIPINAS have the best boobs 🍒
The sad reality is, the city officials needs to care about all the different dynamics that make up the attractions in and around Angeles city, because if they don’t you will be living in the new Detroit of the Philippines.
You are not going to break even for a long time, you have to have deep pockets and staying power . There are local tourist from other islands who will fly in and spend money , but not if you don't open the damn. Also most of the bars on walking street put themselves for jacking up the the prices and cratering to Koreans, LoL.
I remember a guy selling me blue pills and i just laugh my ass off.
Sure the Walking Street bars will re-open, the popular ex-pat bars will break even until tourism resumes. Barrio Barretto seems to be re-opening now.
Hello there, do you know if there are any good condo I could purchase for about P1.7 million near “Walking Street” ? I would like to rent it out.
the place working girls are cool
No sense opening the bars in the tourist area until tourists can come there.
When you winge about the US/Peso exchange rate please cast a sympathetic thought to the Brits. I was king of the hill in the 90's with 108 pesos to the GBP. And then came the belt-tightening days of the middle 2000's when it was 58P/£1. All the time prices crept up. Our 5 bedroom house that started at 15000 a month rent was beyond a joke 10 years later with rent rises of 10% per an...and we had to up the deposit to match year by year. Meanwhile the US dollar has never gone beyond 44 to 55 as I recall.
Walking Street, The Walking Street, who cares, it is still Field's Avenue. The Walking Street thing is relatively recent.
But I still love you videos
I think there going to keep things down till sept
is Hotel America opened? good chinese resto in it.
Good Chinese restroom? 🚽
