  • How will the fan experience be impacted by the metaverse? Will the ability to virtually go backstage, and have proximity in the digital plane, build meaningful connections? And how will it compare to the fan experience of today? K-pop producer and speaker Alex Karlsson shares insights from his years producing music for artists like BTS, AleXa and TXT as well as lessons learned from arranging a massive multiplayer metaverse concert.  Alex Karlsson is a 39-time Billboard chart-topping and multi-platinum selling musician, metaverse pioneer and K-pop expert.
As a writer, producer and vocalist he has worked with K-pop mega stars such as BTS, Enhypen, TXT, SHINee, SUPERM, SuperJunior, TWICE and NCT.
His main drive in life is empowering creators and making art that adds to the lives of people around the world. He is currently most curious about the mediums yet to come and how they may change the way we create and experience our surroundings.
Alex grew up both in Sweden and the United States, and now resides in Stockholm. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at www.ted.com/tedx

Kpop is already doing some of the democratized fan connections he mentions - Vlive, and now Weverse live and YT live, have been connecting fans with artists in real time for zero money for years. It's genius and part of why Kpop fandoms are so loyal - you really do get to know the artists better and on a different level than you do in the West.
