I grew up using essential oils. My mother used them on us for absolutely everything. I learned so much today. I'm watching this while looking into anointing oil: I feel compelled to begin anointing my lady who is an ICU nurse as she operates in her gift of healing. Also, I'm touched by your mentioning of "oil of joy". My grandmother went to be with the Lord a few days ago due to COVID19.

Some good information. I would like to add that nothing used in biblical times would be considered an "essential oil" in todays terms. Myrrh was typically sold or transported in a dry form. (it's basically tree sap) Frankincense was similarly in solid form. When used as an oil, it was ground into fine dust, then added to olive oil, and typically took several days to weeks to properly macerate as in "The work of a perfumer". As far as "liquid Myrrh" is concerned, its somewhat of a mistranslation of "free flowing" myrrh, which is the highest quality of sap that is produced when the bark splits naturally, as opposed to when someone cuts the tree to force the sap to run.
Thank you for this thoughtful comment. It’s true that in different times and within different cultures the plants that God has given us have all been utilized in different and creative ways. If you have a chance to listen all the way to the end when I discuss frankincense and myrrh, you will see images and explanations of how the sap turns into a resin and how it is harvested, and then eventually how it becomes an essential oil. And it’s true that myrrh and frankincense has been used in all of its different forms all throughout history. Thanks again!
@sammonsjoyfuljourney correct; I did see that part of your video and emphasized what you discussed to better inform comment readers about how perfume oils were made in biblical times. I also saw that you discussed steam distillation, which is infact how most essential oils are made today. However, that process was not invented until the 9th century AD at the earliest.
