"Lean On Me" singer Bill Withers dies at 81

- Soul legend Bill Withers, known for songs like “Lean On Me” and “Ain’t No Sunshine,” has died at the age of 81. The three-time Grammy Award winner’s family said he died of heart complications. The singer’s hit “Lean on Me” has been a source of comfort for many, with choirs and medical workers recording their own renditions of the song amid the coronavirus pandemic.

I was introduced to so many types of music by family members and friends over the years. I enjoyed hearing about stories about some of these songs and how many people told me about how these songs impacted their lives. Bill withers was one of my favorites and Bette midler as well. So of recently I have been listening to the classics because of the simple story telling or messages in the songs. Past and current songs have meaning and special connection powers. To me music is the universal language always been and will be that to me.

No not Bill! I just found out. Man he will truly be missed. The lack of coverage on his death irritates me he was a legend in Soul and R&B man. Lovely Day, Lean On Me, Ain't No Sunshine, and my personal favorite Just the Two of Us were classics. I was hoping to meet that man one day.

Back to a time when music was on our trasistor radio before hd radio, he was imagination with his guitar from Lean on Me to his final song A Lovely Day, he was the best artist. The Man who wrote those songs was Bill Wither. He was the soul survivor. He didn't died in 2005 at aged 72 he still was on tour. His Friends and his Family are remembering him. He was born in Slab Fork, WV and he died yesterday in Los Angeles, CA from heart problem at the age of 8. Gayle King has our look back and also Monday on NPR News, Steve Inskeep whose now on Facebook and NPR live with Morning Editionon cameras four times in a row and CBS World News Roundup with Steve Kathan on Facebook live will have more of this remarkable career as NPR's Nada Ulaby profiles this three- time Grammy Award Winner.
