93 and he still has this energy. What an absolute legend.
A total inspiration for those afraid to grow older.
Vegans gettin' it done.
@@planetvegan7843 He has advocated vegetarianism in the past, but that does not necessarily mean he was actually a vegetarian himself. However, he is definitely not a vegetarian now: I saw an interview with him yesterday (10/13/21) where he attributed his good health to eating lots of vegetables, with some chicken and fish.
obviously copy pasted, but lies are lies regardless of when you tell them
The Shat man never seems to age! Shatner still looks 50 or 60!
First he saved a pair of whales, now he's saving wild salmon. Nicely done, good sir.
3 whales... Gracie's pregnant.

Now THIS is how to get a message across.
Bravo!
I'm a simple man. I see a Shatner video, I click on it.
When did he become vegan?
@@planetvegan7843he is not. This is such an out of place random question that has nothing to do with the ad
ROG - yes he is. environmentalists are vegan. Not out of place random at all.
"I...have had...enough of YOU, open net salmon farmers!!!"
I don't know what open net salmon fishhing is but I demand and end to it now.
There are many videos on this practice. Here's one: instagram.com/pacificwild/reel/C8p2CzPNuT3/
These salmon farming pens are a genuine menace to the wild salmon.
I used to know someone who worked at one. They told me some of the fish were so cancerous they didn't even look like salmon but closer to a blob. Yet they were still harvested and sold.
@@spentcasing3990 vile practice based in greed and very good lobbyists who've bamboozled the Federal Gov't.
Not only a danger to wild salmon, but the whole ecosystem. Open net farmers are literally destroying entire fjords and areas for their own profit.
F--k yeah! You tell 'em, Bill!
I love this, and I hope it gets spread far and wide.
F*ckin' love ya, Bill.
So funny, Yet accurate.
THANK YOU Bill!!! Canada loves you still my friend!!!
Amazing! This needs to be on TV across Canada.
Yes beamed in from his LA home
Umm, the internet is the 21st century TV - and it goes all across Canada / the world.
And this is what first nations people say.
"Wealthy, urban activist groups in Vancouver spend hundreds of thousands of dollars to bombard your social media with misleading information about salmon farming. Rather than spending that money on wild Pacific salmon revitalization projects or habitat restoration, they flood your phones with emotive images and oversimplified statements with the intent to sway government decision-makers and ultimately harm our communities and our rights as Indigenous peoples."
Thank you, Mr. Shatner, Merci, M. Shatner! We need more people like you shaking it up! Those of us in the environmental/ animal rights movements have been trying to break through these walls for years. We had no idea we needed to be less "Canadian" about it!
I didnt even know he is vegan!
Bill, you're a national treasure. A native son of Montreal, too. Happy to say I live only a few blocks from where you grew up.
(Kinda makes me feel like a somebody!)
I love his real face grumpy, harsh and funny 🤣🤣🤣
What the fuck William Shatner! I honestly think you just possibly gave my life a purpose. I've watched this video now at least 100 times. I took breaks in between and walked around my block a couple of times. I'm really riled up. I donated $10 dollars to this cause. You really make me want to start an organization here in the US fighting for some environmental cause. I don't know man, you might have finally given me a purpose in this life. I've been watching you since I was a kid. I kind of think of you like my third grandfather. You're one of the greatest men that has lived on this planet. Thank you sir.
News flash, it takes a lot more than $10 to start an organization.
But it's a nice post.
@@ModernDayRenaissanceMan $10 is a great start. Did you kick in your $10. Organizations have been started with less and succeeded.
Denny Crane is back! To Nimmo Bay. We all love you Will and support you👍 🖕🖕🖕
Wtf Bill! Never mind stun.
Turn those funking Phasers on full.⚡
This made my day, week, month probably.
Omg, there has got to be something in the Canadian air that makes them this feisty.
Air? Nah.... It's in Canadian beer! 😉 Just don't piss us off eh!!!
Just a back against a wall...and frustration.
Brilliant as always. Thank you Mr. William Shatner 🎉
Vegans are so awesome.
Looking forward to the coming A.I. generated Salmon Kirk memes.
Bill, you're a treasure, and I love ya.
I'd vote for William!
Wild fish is the only kind I eat. Mm-hmm. Mr. Shatner is looking as fit as ever. Amazing longevity. May God Bless you with many more years my Canadian brother.
You have that right. Save the wild by only eating wild. I also only feed my pets wild salmon dog food.

Good for you Shatner. Stop trashing the environment. 😡❤️
Vegan yet?
Fascinating! This open net salmon farming needs to stop.
That would be a genocide on indigenous communities. These farms are how they employee themselves. They went from basically being wiped out by suicides and drug overdoses to living somewhat comfortable lives thanks to these farms.
@@pin65371 It's unfortunate that jobs MAY be lost (highly unlikely anything will change). But many terrible businesses have had to stop over the decades. I'll bet most people in the native communities would see the value in conserving the environment, not destroying it. If it means moving on than so be it. Move on.
😂 Thank You from a German Fan, Mr. Shatner 🖖🏼
Get em Captain!!!!
Hope the meat eaters supporting these industries hear ya!
Thank you totally fucking agree as fellow canuk

Great work mister Shatner...lol
Mr. Shatner...SIR!! PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE sign my body, so I can get it tattooed and made permanent!
how would you react if someone said that to you?.. pretty creepy dude.
What a regard lmao.
Weird & pointless.
1) whatever you tattoo isn't really what he signed because his will have faded away so your sentiment does absolutely nothing
2) abusing/mutilating your body for someone you've never met due to celebrity worship is a mental illness you should get checked out
3) thinking this is okay to post in public... That is another major sign you might want to seek help
@@AbrasiousProductions oh, I thought that was a normal Canadian thing 🤣
Hi William, why did you not release the film "creators the past" in the usa?

We can.
Bill, great video and keep up the good work to get the word out there. This sums up the BS they do. Good to see the man back on the screen again.
This is terrific! Hope they do another ad about fish farms and AMR (antibiotic use in aquaculture has caused 90% of water borne bacteria to become drug resistant to at least one of our main antibiotics and 20% is drug resistant to at least 5).

1966 was a long time ago. I hope I have that kind of energy when I'm his age :D
The shat man will always be the man!
We need you down here in North Carolina to help get the nets out of our waters!
The majority of Canadian open net farms in Canada are owned by foreign corporations that got kicked out of Scandinavia for environmental reasons. Depending on how you do the math, farming salmon might be better for fish stocks than killing wild salmon, but it definitely hurts wild fish populations.
I wish i could meet william shatner
Makes me proud to be a Canadian and from BC!
I can't wait until Saskatchewan leaves confederation and we don't have to put up with you drugged out hippies
Good on you for standing up for what you believe in. Very commendable. I like to eat salmon. Easy to tell its very important.

Next up: chicken farms!
He is basically sticking up a middle finger to indigenous people.
Indigenous people are against the farms too.

The open net fishing community is asking for an apology... I don't think they will get one.

LOVE THIS especially after the Feds say full closures remain until 2029. BOOOOOO
As a Canadian, I'd like to thank you for speaking out. This message so needs to be heard. Please keep up the good work sir. Respect.
Here is what the first nations people think of him and people like him. These farms are how they survive.
The late, great Rafe Mair was 100% correct about the destruction caused by open-net salmon farming. R.I.P Rafe. Hope you're aware of the upcoming changes - finally.
Still too far away imo.
It's the indigenous groups that own these farms. If we take away these businesses it would destroy the communities. They went from massive drug overdoses and suicides to living fairly decent lives thanks to these farms. White people love to pretend to support indigenous people until the indigenous people do something they disagree with.
Thank you for your service.
You tell them Captain Kirk...🖖👍
I love salmon Very tasty. So bill how much$

Wild Bill loves wild salmon.
Gold.
Lol, they want him to apologize for this video.....
Don't do it Mr. Shatner. Don't cave, don't apologize, frak the open fish net salmon farmers....
This isn't about race (BC 1st Nation natives who work at these farms), it's about what it's(the practice of the open net fishing) doing to the native fish species..,....making it about race is just wrong.
Perfection
Hahaha I Love It
I don't know why this upsets the Indians?
I thought they were all about preserving wildlife
Habitat. One would think they would applaud Shatners video along with
All of us? ( Beside the message, it is hilarious!)
So many good points raised! However, many are mitigated by organic practices and husbandry. This includes only 1% stocking density in the nets, using freshwater as opposed to chemicals, and using feed from marine as opposed to land based sources. Obviously RAS is the next step, but there is a way to do open net salmon farming more responsibly between now and getting these facilities online. Over 70% of salmon consumed in North America comes from farmed sources, and even conventional (never mind organic for a moment) salmon is much more environmentally friendly than beef or poultry. Wild salmon population s continue to decline, so we need to do open net better, not eliminate it.
Apparently, Indigenous salmon farmers are demanding an apology. I thought they would be in favour of wild versus farmed? Confusing.
LOVE IT!!! farmed fish is nasty! Diseased! Fish Lice ridden! It's terrible for the eco systems. Again, sea food in general is so polluted that I stopped eating all of it.
I'm usually in lockstep with First Nation/Aboriginal issues. However, not on this one. Open pen farm fishing has the science behind it that they are harmful to the environment and can easily spread disease that can threaten wild salmon stocks. Those on the aboriginal/first nations argument you can tell it's truly a profit thing. They can make a ton of this industry if they control a monopoly on it themselves.
Bravo to Shatner, Ryan Reynolds and every other Canadian bringing attention to this and hopefully ending this practice.
How about talk to the US DOD about geoengineering. There is a much larger problem at play! The oceans are being super heated and fried by UVC getting through the weakened ozone.
Ok, so this is his raw side? and 93?? Can someone please educate me on salmon farming-I WAS understanding that it was to bring the population back. No?
This Tasmanian would like to agreee wholeheartedly. Feel free to oppose these f*cking things here too. Atlantic salmon have mo place here. Thanks Bill, we share your contempt.
As a Canadian I approve this message.
Like it or not salmon farming is essential to keep up with our growing human population. we should be discussing ways to improve the system if we really want to protect the wild fish..or is this really about getting rid of farms in general and feeding us crickets? Lol. Jmho..and someone please explain how salmon farming on land is better than farms in their natural habitats because how again?
I actually didn't know this was a problem
Please get a second opinion. Find out how many jobs in high unemployment native communities will be lost. How much revenue bands will lose. Don't inform your opinions by some Hollywood guy who lives comfortably thousands of miles away.
@@normanwells2755 It's unfortunate that jobs MAY be lost (highly unlikely anything will change). But many terrible businesses have had to stop over the decades. I'll bet most people in the native communities would see the value in conserving the environment, not destroying it. If it means moving on than so be it. Move on.
@@charlesknowlton7198 How easy that is for someone who doesn't live there to say. Many terrible businesses have been stopped? I think we would probably disagree on terrible too.
@@normanwells2755 I think you'll agree that coal mining was a business that employed thousands of people over decades. No ONE today thinks bringing coal back would be good for the environment. This is an example of what I'm talking about.
@@charlesknowlton7198 Incorrect on two counts. Coal mining has increased about 9 times from 1900 to today. And I think every source of energy needs to be on the table to maintain our economies and that includes coal. No major producer of economic reserves has cut back production except for political reasons.
Fuggin Eh! Captain Kirks!! Write to your MP, MLA's. Delaying another 5 years is BS
He's been passionate about salmon since taking Alan Shore up to Nemo Bay to go fishing.
