I know of very few who become an icon because of a role they once played, especially in a series that was relatively brief. But it is even rarer to see that person become an icon in his own right. I love William Shatner and wish him joy and long life.

I live on a Ranch on the High Plains of Colorado. One day back in 2000 my crew and I were taking a lunch break. I was sitting at the table looking towards the kitchen when there was the loudest boom I've ever heard. It nearly knocked me out of my chair. Isaw the expressions on the men were completely shocked. It had been a very pleasant day with no sign of a storm. Someone said WTF WAS THAT ? Then about 20 seconds later a blue ball of energy floated through the wall / window on the side of the house with a southern exposure right above the kitchen sink. It was about the size of a large beechball it floated across the room and passed right thru the 1957 International Harvester upright freezer that was infront of a window. It didn't do any damage to it or anything else. No smell of damaged electrical wiring or to the compressor. We were all completely bewildered. About 5 minutes later it began to rain; a couple of months later that old freezer crapped out. It had run for about 50 years without ever needing any repares. It was one of the strangest this I ever saw. 😮

My father talks of a similar occurrence, when he was young an under contract with the air force. ( my dad was an electronic engineer) He was involved in the early days of spy planes and they were doing different in flight tests. Taking pictures and using devices that could detect explosions. He said they heard a boom, and a ball of light rolled through the airplane, right down the middle of this cargo plane, then it passed right through it. They reported it and it was explained to be ball lightning, my father a brilliant man; thinks that is exactly what it was. No one was injured and there were no malfunctions. I cannot remember where he was, but it was overseas, in an area where there are many thunder storms. He definitely told the story better.

I was the in-house contractor for the Prudential Insurance Company in the 1980's.
I would go out to the loss immediately after the claim was called in, to perform emergency board-up service.
I arrived at a loss in Whippany NJ. A glowing ball had burst through the upstairs wall from the chimney chase , leaving a charred 3 ft hole. The ball came down the stairs, leaving burn marks that exposed the gypsum core of the sheetrock through the wall paper. It floated through the living room where the family was on the couch watching terrified. It floated into the dining room, continuing to bounce off walls, burning away the wallpaper and paper on the sheetrock. It slowly went into the kitchen where it burst through the wall into the garage, hitting an outlet and blowing/burning out the electrical system and major electric appliances.
They described it as a deeply blue ball with orange and white aura around it.
Same exact description as this video.
    Go figure.

I admired James Doohan as Scotty, but growing up I though the person really running things was Lieutenant Uhura, Nichelle Nichols. She was so glamorous and composed, and she was a supremely talented singer. Uhura could talk and listen at the same time, according to author James Blish. Peace and rest to all of them.

Yep... its a weird world alright & i ❤ it too William. Haha!
I absolutely loved watching these episodes wen i was a kid & then up into my teens. Ive always had a bit of a thing for Shatner, tho not how u’d expect, as he’s got older, he seems to have found himself grounded even tho he is a hollywood movie star, he really has a natural curiosity for things in the realms of the Unknown, i really appreciate his ease at story telling thru each of these awesome Weird or What episodes! His humour does proper tickle me pink at times!
He is one of the most down to earth actors of all actors in & around the Hollywood movie star scene, some become so up their own jacksies that they wouldn’t know grounded, if it were to stroll right up to ‘em & whip whop their face, yet others, like Mr Shatner here, just seems to take it all in their stride, just another for example: Johnny Depp! Another lvl headed all round good guy!
Anyway, nuff said, i just wanted to share my thoughts on Mr Shatner & his groovy nature! Its awesome! Wot a true Legend! Totally!
Thanks for sharing these wicked Weird or What episodes with us here on YT! I am pretty sure many others will feel a sense of nostalgia wen watching these bk after so many years gone by!!

Love Australia, always wanted to visit, used to want to move there but don't think I could handle the Crocs and spiders... grizzlies are more comfortable for me, or black bear which we have in TN.. In fact a yr or two back, I had to take my little 410 shot gun out @ fire off a round to run off a panther that had come down off the ridge for a dog dinner. It was on top of the shed, and when I got, that cat was big enough when it jumped down I heard it hit the ground!! Anyway, love your country, love Mr Shatner too, he's a darlin. I went forward and maybe the fog had lifted but it wasn’t easy to explain to the two AB’S that they were Dolphins. And before you think drink we where a dry ship strongest drink and cola and our bond room is always locked I have the only key and chief officer had the Combination, the locker was opened on a daily basis, but for cigarettes no alcohol was ever on that ship. I witnessed ball lightning in the early 80’s.
It was a very hot summer in Texas, we were in a heat wave and the temp over 100 for months.
I can remember that day in detail. I had just got home from school and barely sat down to watch some gilligans island.
Heard a very loud boom outside. Assuming a car had just crashed I ran to the porch, swung the door open just in time to see it.
I watched it rolling from the top of the hill, and running right down the street, keeping in line with the power lines. It passed the neighbors yard and it sized up with their VW Bug. It was like flames of fire, white, blue, yellow and green on outer sides of the ball.
It didn’t make a sound as it zoomed down the road, and I watched it disappear behind a school football field a block away.
No one else saw this, and I felt like a fool for telling anyone. It wasn’t until years later I read about this and it was exactly what I also had experienced.

Positive Giants...lightning discharge from the top of the thundercloud can release as much energy as 2 nuclear power plants...2,000 MEGAJOULES. Like a nuclear explosion but pure electro-magnetic energy. Ball lightning might be capable of "QUANTUM TUNNELING" or "QUANTUM JUMPING" since they can pass through solid objects, even airplanes and walls and come out the other side. Sometimes Ball lightning does explode, or it silently disappear & reappear and manuever like a "UFO". "Earth Lights"..."Marfa Lights of Texas' There are many causes of Ball lightning and it's been created in Physics labs with high-energy electrical discharges but they decay rapidly. Tesla wrote and talked about ball lightning and how he could create it with his high voltage wireless transmission towers...or "Magnifying Transmitter."

In the first scenario, the boom event took place in 1978. The witness commented that it had occurred 33 years earlier from the date of the video's filming.
That would make this program's original air date in 2011.
At that time, William Shatner would have been thirteen years younger than his present age, making him only 79 at the time the video was made.
Mystery of Mr. Shatner's apparent youthfulness solved!

I've experianced this Blue Ball lightening. Also called plasma energy. It was as big as a large beach ball. It appeard after the loudest subsonic boom I'd ever heard. It shook the house and I almost fell out of my chair. A couple of guys were with me in my dining room getting ready to eat lunch. I was at the head of the table looking towards the kitchen. The Plasma Ball slowly came thru the window just above the sink. It slowly drifted across the room and penetrated my 1958 International Harvester Freezer. It simply just passed through it and went out the window behind it. Like a ghost. The old freezer worked fine for another couple of months then crapped out. I've often wondered what if one of my crew had been washing the dishes at the time ? Thankfully we had all just sat down for our lunch at that time and noone was standing in the kitchen. 😂

My biggest complaint about asking experts (only experts in their field) is that when they know zero about things like these examples like "electric fog", but they will invent answers based on what they learned.
All the answers given don't resonate with what those whose witnessed (what happened) said.
I wonder what the experts said about the first (10,0000 years ago) forest fire.
Frankly, I'm happy with no explanation. In time, the mystery will reveal itself.
