This is one of the tastiest soups I've ever had. Admittedly, I did use chicken stock since I didn't have vegetable at the time, along with some water and a chicken bullion. I also added mushrooms, celery, and sriracha sauce to give it a nice kick. I didn't start seriously cooking until just last year (when I found your youtube channel.) Thanks for helping me become somewhat of a proper adult guys!
You know, if you go to a store in India and ask for curry powder, they'd ask you what kind it is that you need cause there're tonnes of different sorts.
The best thing about you guys is that you are genuine! Keep it up.
not gonna lie, I thought "broccolini" was a silly name you were giving the broccoli since you guys do that a lot haha
I made this and it was so easy and delicious. It has become my favorite soup now. Thanks for the recipe!!
I think if you use coconut oil (high flashpoint - one of the healthiest oils for frying!) it would simply enhance the coconut flavour and be extra yum!
Karen Tun Aung no it does nothing to the flavor because you cannot cook with extra virgin coconut oil and that is the only one that taste like coconut along with Virgin if you're going to fry or so I'll tell you the high temperature you must use refined coconut oil which smells and tastes like nothing. :-)
Y’all have such a chill vibe, can’t wait to try this recipe looks delicious 🔥
I've been watching your channel for a few weeks. I figured I should learn how to cook since I'm moving to college pretty soon. I made curry tacos with a slaw on top and it's the most fucking delicious thing I've ever tasted. Thank you so much for making these informative videos!
Made this soup last night! So, so delicious, thanks very much.
totally making this soon, looks really awesome.
Currently drooling...love the flavors of coconut milk and curry. yum!
i love the lights in your kitchen!
I went to taiwanese testeraunt yesterday and loved this dish. It had no potatoes it had cabbage and broccoli. Im about to go to whole foods buy veg for my own version but keeping the base of coconut curry ginger garlic. It was so smooth and creamy. I love that its perfect for my alkaline vegan lifestyle.
Where do you buy those amazing cast iron pans?
Was looking for a soup to make with coconut milk and curry. Thank you. Can't wait to cook this up today.. New aubscriber!
Love it, thanks guys! :O)
Thanks!
ever tried coconut butter/manna? it replaced me using any other coconut product, really good for soups
Looks good 😁
Does anyone know the link to the recipe? I can't find it.
This is the first time I've heard of a "purple potato" :O
Its also called Ube if you have any filipino friends.
I was wishing on a video last night before I went to bed, and when I woke up, i was so surprised to have you guys in my dream and we were smoking!? lol it was sooo strange but awesome. loved this.. i'm vegetarian!
You guys are great man, subscribed
I can't wait to get back home from college to cook
can you puree them?
I love purple sweet potatoes!!! My wife always cuts them up like fries and bakes them 🙌🏼 it's the best!
I cut up various root vegetables like fries. I use sweet potatoes, parsnips, carrots, etc. And make a green coconut curry sauce and drizzle it over the fries. It's delicious!
I wish u had a list of ingredients and quantity before starting
What's in the veggie stock ? Looks red? Tomato ? Will that effect the dish ?
guys do a coconut red curry noodles
Looks awesome!! And it's vegan! Double awesome points!
I'm using Safflower oil for now and can't think about better oil. It's completely neutral in taste and very light, also doesn't smell when fried.
The milk has curdled?
where can I get purple potatoes in LA?! or in Long Beach, I've never seen those?!
asian market - filipinos call them "ube"
Its the first time in my life that i see a purple potato
tofu is really good with curry.
Awesome! I am in need of some more soup recipes! Since I became vegetarian there hasn't been so many soup options great video as always haha.
Soup is one of the easiest and healthiest ways to eat vegetarian! You can throw tofu in too for protein. Look up Indian recipes. A high percentage of the Indian population is vegetarian, and their food has tons of flavorful and healthy vegetarian recipes.
I'm trying to convert my Hungarian husband to the sweeter things in life, Hungarians tend to like the smokier and saltier side of things. Meals without bread are not an option, and I am slowly breaking him from the need to have meat with every meal, he does actually make mushroom goulash which is delish......Its defo a work in progress.😌
Saundra Kielborn Definitely true! I am also Hungarian and love spicy smoky flavors, while my boyfriend from Brazil loves more light and sweet dishes like this one! It is amazing to get to know new cultures and discover tasty food from all over the world! 🍲🍲
making today December 17 2023
PURPLE POTATOES EXIST?!?!
yes---in Hong Kong does
We have them in Vancouver, Canada too! :)
Also, purple carrots and purple corn exist. There are all sorts of cultivars of different vegetables.
You should go to Perú for purple everything
Its called Ube in the Philippines it is so sweet it used as an ice-cream flavor
this was the jam
How you’ve improved from 2013 till 2018 now.
great idea! will give it a try :-)
I am not an english native speaker - could you please tell me, what that liquid is called that you poured in first, right before the coconut milk? Thanks :)
It's called vegetable stock.
Or broth, vegetable broth. You could use bullion in a pinch. I am not a vegetarian, I use chicken broth or stock sometimes.
@3:02 he says if my nuts tasted like coconuts... mmmph. hahaha
Yeah! asian cuisine :))
Make more Vegan friendly recipes!!!
Rastafarians cook this alot in jamaica

dianne golez Sweet potatoes are typically orange...

I love being vegan because I can boil and freeze everything and nothing will break. Woohoo!
3:07 "man if my nuts tasted like coconuts" **looks guilty**
I purée everything and add coconut milk at the end reduce low heat 10 min
should've blended the potatoes. not really feelin the broccoli
Im gonna add chicken to this😈😈😈

lost me at OILSKIS
Where's the fucking recipe?????! Y'all could've at least typed it down for us so I can have all the ingredients presented at once!
You are supposed to cook the curry at the very beginning. Curry needs to be cooked.
oilskissssss
I can't watch these guys when I know they were the first two knocked out on chopped :(
yeah, they have terrible technique sometimes. but i think thats their charm, its really simple, but still creative
Chopped is about getting ridiculously creative with odd ingredients under a highly constrained time limit (in an environment you aren't terribly familiar with). I wouldn't use that show as some sort of official measure of someone's skill level (unless someone is just arrogant, unsanitary, or undercooks the hell out of something... but neither of them did that). Also judge opinion =/= objective fact.
Kismet137 i dont disagree with your comment and i didnt watch the chopped that they were on, but i wasnt basing my arguement on that either. i just think they have terrible technique in general. its easy and fun and thats why i like to watch them, but sometimes i feel like they dont know what they are talking about or are cooking things the wrong way
This isn't culinary school. It's about having fun with cooking. Cooking for the joy of it.
