    Night Vision can be easily programmed in the web browser user interface under Camera/Configurations/Profile Management. This way you can program any ip camera with a Day and Night Schedule. Then under Camera/Configuration/Day&Night you will need to choose B&W for your Night schedule and the Night Vision turned on. That being said, it would be useful to always give your ip cameras and NVR static ip addreses.

    Total agreed Amcrest need to really update their software in all platforms. I owned about 8 Amcrest camera, hardware is really good, but the software on IOS and PC are pretty bad and old. I am also one of the very few who actually uses their free PC-NVR… but again, very buggy, big learning curve, hard to use… but reliable after you really spent the time to set it up. They have the fastest notification and wide range of selection. But lack on “smart” and new feature, they didn’t even make their doorbell to be google/Alexa compatible. That’s one thing really stop me from buying more Amcrest….

    Thanks for mentioning that this camera's AI can detect moving vehicles while ignoring parked vehicles. I'm trying to find a camera (wifi or PoE) that can do that well. Will you consider making a video for the comparison of multiple camera's ability to detect moving vehicles? It seems that Wyze Cam v3 will continue to notify of vehicles that are parked if they're in the frame.

It so difficult with all their choices to know which products are newer and the differences between the AI and non-AI models. There seem to be so many model numbers with very similar parameters and it is difficult to navigate. I hope you can help here?

      Good question. From what I’ve noticed in the reviews, the Reolink RLC-811A seems good as the spotlight comes on to assist when it detects someone. I’ve seen Hikvision reviews and they seem to have the best colour night vision without any added lighting.
      Hikvision are more expensive. I’d like to get one or two Hikvision cameras and connect to a Reolink NVR but I believe it’s not possible.

    Finally moving up and doing amcrest again :) Crazy about the nvr and if you don't know what AI means, well...you need to read more and understand what you're looking at, I know you do, but so do the people doing research. I have the non AI version and of cource they upgraded right after I got mine. During your testing did you feel the AI was very accurate? I refuse to use the alerting due to so many false positives with the older non AI model. I agree the software is old and could use updating, but it's not that bad IMO, At least it works and really how often do you mess with the settings.

    • @LifeHackster
      @LifeHackster  2 роки тому +4

      The AI Human and Vehicle detection are definitely working...no false notifications combining it with their motion zones. The notification and with AI processing is the quickest yet..within a second. It just needs a better app and one of the main issue I have is the one I demoed in the video... I normally cancel, turn off or snooze my notifications when I'm in my front yard or backyard and the process on how to turn it off and turning it back on loses all your settings and needing to redo everytime... the hardware and even the firmware on the cameras are great...just the app..they need to concentrate to make it user friendly.

    • @lelandclayton5462
      @lelandclayton5462 2 роки тому +2

      SD Cards are terrible for primary recording use for Cameras. A SD Card can only write so many times before it wears out. For a example with the Camera that was reviewed with 24hour recording, H.265+ encoding, medium video quality at 30 frames a second and medium activity with a 256GB SD card you'll get around 3 days. You'll probably get four to six months of use from the SD card before it fails.

The software is powerful but has a learning curve. Others have easy to use apps but can’t do as much as the Amcrest. Amcrest also has a variety of cameras to fit different needs. Criticizing an app that has more features than your camera has doesn’t make sense to me. that’s like saying Apple is better than android. I love my iPhone, but android phones give you far more control over your device than any Apple product does. Just my $0.02. I still like your channel.

    You're showing some "big league" testing, because you showed the camera's performance under adverse circumstances: Your neighbor's backyard floodlights spoofed the automatic night-shift inside the Amcrest camera. Thank you for that*. But the acid test, which you failed to perform, is the "nocturnal blur" test. I.e., can a face that is moving be RECOGNIZABLE, in recorded medium? Moreover, the ability to produce crisp nocturnal imagery, of a moving target, speaks to the COST OF THE GLASS; i.e., the lens. To remain cost competitive, surveillance camera manufacturers to cheap on the lenses, which are expensive if excellent. They compensate for this with electronic amplification; i.e., dirt cheap electronic components. Yet Amcrest cameras are not as inexpensive as Reolink, for what you get. UNLESS that nocturnal blur, by Amcrest, beats Reolink's RLC-811A, which my testing showed to have unacceptable nocturnal blur.
    *I suggest you keep that "neighbor's flood lights" in the test, but THEN erect an optical barrier, like some kind of opaque screen. This could be accomplished using four 16 foot vertical poles, in a line, just inside your back property line. Span the distance with another horizontal pole that goes up and down, and pulls an opaque screen up and down with it.
