haters are going to hate, lol. I personally can not stand those really fast tutorials with no verbiage at all and generally music not of my taste either...but that is just me, I like to celebrate and appreciate our differences and would hope others would do the same. Thank you for what I consider well done and comprehensive tutorials.
Hi Dansky Noooooooo ... stick with your instincts, your videos are definitely not too long!!!! Had to tell you that changes in my life beyond my control have meant that I needed to make changes that I can control and I have turned to art because I didn't have, but always wanted a career in that arena. I have a copy of Adobe Illustrator CS5 and without the likes of you, my aim to master the software would be a far greater challenge! You may find it surprising, but having decided that you are extremely knowledgeable, I try to watch at least two of your illustrator videos each day. Who knows, maybe your efforts will increase my potential to have a career in graphics one day. Please keep the videos coming and .... make them as long as you like!!! Sally
Hi Dan, with putting 86.602% [return] in illustrator I won't get the same result as you do. Mine jumps to something like 16383. You said "point" instead of komma, so I typed in a point. Just a minor thing but I switched it to a komma and it works.
Hello @dansky and thanks for this easy explanation. I’m wondering about what numbers, and order, to use when placing for example a circle on one of the views (top, right or front)? Also, will the same numbers work when placing text?
I've seen other videos that say make several vertical lines, then copy/rotate them 60° twice to make an isometricgrid. How is this better or faster than that?
Is there a way to lock any other type of snap than to point. Its ez to make a mistake and the whole thing is fucked afte you notice it way later. Wish i could be forced to only add a node on the grid intersections only. Matbe a paid plugin?
Question: I went through the whole video and I think my set up for "snap to.." is the same as yours yet my pen tool is not snapping to the points on the isometric grid or even if they do, the color fill doesn't cover the whole square/rectangle/area but always leaves some small gap empty. Any solutions? the points seem to snap from further but then once done I notice things are not perfectly aligned/snapped. something similar to 10:12 in yuor video, bit I am connecting my point already with a good zoom and the snap doesn't feel so snappy (the "magnetic pull" is not very strong). On your "snap to" settings, what have you got on? thank you
I don't have a use for this, but what if I wanted a grid that was rotated twenty degrees on all the axis instead of forty-five degrees? Do you know of an equation (or equations) we can use no mater what rotations we want for the grid?
i really like these efficient videos! to the guy who said it could be done in 5 seconds: bro don't try to learn too fast so you'll end up learning nothing
I did exactly what you said, but in my case, the anchor doesn't snap to the points I want. I got the exactly same settings, does anyone know what I possibly did wrong?
Good question! You can add the vertical lines for that type of isometric grid, and I think it's a personal preference. There's another tutorial on my channel for that if you're interested. For me personally, once I've got this simple grid there's no need to add the vertical lines and complicate the grid, as Illustrator should snap to where the lines intersect anyway 🙂
It's a trick that I learned from someone a long time ago, and seems to be the "magic number" so that when you do the rotation and skew steps afterwards, everything is perfectly isometric 👍
Thanks for Video. I need to print an isometric drawing that I have created and still have the isometric lines in the background. Is this possible? Thanks.
your tuts are normally great but 11mins to explain a grid in seconds, seems excessive to be honest. Thanks for teaching us anyway. The 86.602% for H value tip at 5:26 is very good. actually
I'm curious to know if you eventually transitioned to Affinity Designer, or did you realize how much underpowered it is compared to Illustrator like me
Dan you do a great content. Yet, about two minutes of my time especially from the beginning have been waited.. please directly start on into the point.
your videos seems to me like they always have a perfect time length according to what you demonstrate and explain. Love what you do.
Thanks Pauline 🙂

5 Seconds !!
Dude I wish ur videos are hours long! They are very helpful and ur a awesome man to watch
haters gonna hate !!
There's a few versions of this tutorial, but this one is by far the best.
Cheers James! ☺️
Watching in 2024!
Thanks man, very helpful for Illustrator rookies like me.
Keep it up! ❤❤❤
Your video lengths are perfect for learning. Forget about this 5 second thing man because you are already so perfect.
dansky one of the best designer really i respect what you do
I always look up for next tutorials.. u r the the person who got me hooked to adobe illustrator ... so keep up ur good work... from South Africa
you videos are great even for an hour. thx u Dansky
Hey Dansky, I'm in love with your crystal clear and fun explanations. Thanks so much for doing this.

Thanks so much Sally! I find that art and design can be a great way to express ourselves, and so pleased to hear that you're enjoying the videos 😊
Great video. Please do a tutorial on how to make an isometric city with roads, grass, trees, cars and people.
Would be great if you could do a video on isometric objects (buildings etc)
Thanks buddy ! I won't waste my time on it ^^
Vertical lines would be useful as well, how can we add those?
I've been putting off watching this because I thought it was going to be really complex ... but no! Thank you!
Thanks Ian, great to hear it's been helpful :)
I know this is more than 5 seconds but it is still helpful and wouldn't mind implementing that
I love your work and pace!
Awesome yet so simple idea! Thanks, bro, for sharing.
You're welcome Nizamuddin :)

5000 of likes from my end for this video post. Keep posting Dansky

thanks dansky , that's amazing bro
Awesome
Many Thanks
Thank you too!
Interesting format by showing real time speed first then tutorial! Inspiring thanks.
You're welcome Jadonx!
Hi the 86.602% comma or dot does not work for me. What should I do ?
For me it only seems to be working with the comma for some reason.
just what i've been needing! thanks buddy, great tutorial... far better than most!
Thanks man!

Go to window. Then click on "Snap to Point".
Try to turn Smart Guides in View menu on. It helped me to fix the same issue.
Just want to say thanks to you, great skill, great energy. Keep fighting!!
Thank you so much! really really helpful
How do you add the vertical lines to complete the grid?
Great ! thank you very much
Do you have a 15'' or 17'' macbook please ?

Hey Jonas, is it only 'Snap to Point' that you have turned on? You can also try zooming it loads if Illustrator is struggling to snap correctly :)
@@ForeverDansky yes it is :/ but somehow it doesnt work
Try to turn Smart Guides in View menu on. It helped me to fix the same issue.
Appreciated
Amazinggggg😍
Thank you with all my heart
Subbed great vid man gonna use this is my next design project
very very nice . . isometric grid has triangles ?? . .

The '86.602%' isn't working for me... It stretches the whole grid from top to bottem. Help!!
Try using a comma , instead of a dot. I hope it helps.
@@moisesd.villav.9490 Thank you!
Anyone watching in 2023 - no need to add the percent manually - adobe does it for you, just add the number.
Where do you get the 86.602% from? I'd like to know the logic there. Am I mean to remember that number I guess...?
It's a trick that I learned from someone a long time ago, and seems to be the "magic number" so that when you do the rotation and skew steps afterwards, everything is perfectly isometric 👍
@@ForeverDansky Thank you
Nice piercing! Thanks for the video.

Beautiful FULL VIEW. Thanks for the share. Best wishes. stay connected...
Isn't it faster and more precise just rotating 45° and dividing height by 2?
This was badass :))
Hello, could you provide any reference of how did you come up with these values?
It's a trick that I learned from another tutorial a while back 🙂
Is there a way to achieve an isometric perspective with the Perspective tool in Illustrator?
Tutorial starts at 2:20
your tuts are normally great but 11mins to explain a grid in seconds, seems excessive to be honest. Thanks for teaching us anyway. The 86.602% for H value tip at 5:26 is very good. actually
Hey thanks for the feedback Jay 👍
I would like to know how to add vertical and horizontal lines to split the diamond shapes of the isometric grid, anyone?:) thanks!!
omg this makes me going to affinity designer. XD
I'm curious to know if you eventually transitioned to Affinity Designer, or did you realize how much underpowered it is compared to Illustrator like me
The video title should be "Set up Isometric grids in (one million) Seconds.
That would be appropriate.
Video starts at 02:18
hahaha that was brilliant 😂
شكرا
6.9 seconds. Nice.
Do you still using iphone SE?
Got rid of my smartphones, this 5S is literally just used as either a stopwatch or music player 🙂
*Set up Isometric Grids in Illustrator in Seconds!!!*
Video length: 11:15
Yep, it takes seconds to set up once you know the technique, takes longer than a few seconds to actually teach it 😉
Yeah! How I hate when a video takes forever to teach something that was promised to take only seconds
F*ck!
Amazing! But... 360p ? really ? :D
Even easier on Affinity designer.
I like full version more 😂😂😂
I like your t-shirt.
f^^k that guy , your not rusty you supreme dude, keep rollin deep with your hombres
Dan you do a great content. Yet, about two minutes of my time especially from the beginning have been waited.. please directly start on into the point.
1:31
Hey this is Damn Possible in Less than 5 Seconds, just create it's ACTION Once 😉😁 and Boommmm !!!
Sorry, why not just the 3d tool?
To bad illustrator doesn't forever shapes to follow the iso grid like 2 or 3 point perspective.
2:10 And I just paused and jumped back and slowed the playback speed to x0.25 like a bellend.....
I like how it says in second yet the video is 11 minutes, haha
my life was miserable before this video thank you
1:31 until the "now" ... hmm. Five seconds? You lost before you even got started ; )
This video could have been 30 seconds long
Wait. wait. wait. Another UA-camr said it should be 57.74%.... where do these numbers come from biko.
Also, I still don't get the concepts of snapping to grids, pixels and points
your shirt.......just.......your shirt man
Set up in Seconds.....11min Video :-) Just kidding...Thank you.
Talk for minutes before doing it in 5 secs
Click bait!
Pure gold brother!
Ni.Ce2 seconds
hahahahahahaha
I think you need to buy your self a new shampoo based on the black sweater of yours..
...or use less hair wax haha 😂
well, 7 narcissistic minutes took the time to tell us how he made 5 sec that video. What a Remarkable Clickbait!!!
