I mean, what could he have done? In a real situation, running out of fuel in front of the pit entrance, he would have done the same. In this case, is the problem with the game that computed his lap when entering the box?

THIS is just five-head style! Just the way in reallife... in F1... when Schumacher won the 1998 Silverstone GP over Häkkinen. Genius move by exactly knowing how to use everything to his advantage without being "unfair" or "ruining" someone elses race! Give this guy a cookie
Not sure about iracing, but formula 1 introduced the rule that you can not win a race while in the pit lane, after the famous Michael Schumacher at silverstone controversy. I assume it would have the same impact on finishing the race in any position not just p1
Yeah, most recent example was Albon in the Williams in Australia last year, he pitted at the end of his penultimate lap and then crossed the finish in 10th after leaving the pits and doing an amazing out lap on cold tyres, (presumedly pressured up a bit for a 1 lap stint! 😂)
This is perfectly fine. There is nothing that says you have to finish the race not in the pit lane. Its just a quirk of the track where the distance to the finish line is less when you go through the pits. Its just a very specific circumstance that caused this.
Actually never mind. Its not allowed in F1, although this is GT3 racing and not F1 so that doesnt really matter. Still i dont really see the problem. You cought but from 1-2 behind to 3 tenths. So its not a shortcut anyway
In his defense that’s where you go to get more fuel. If he’s out I can’t blame him for it, if he wasn’t out and used it only to gain time/position I’d be more upset but probably still wouldn’t protest.
Yes, this is not explicitly forbidden in the rules, but it is implicitly forbidden as it goes against the spirt of the competition (also known as unsportsmanlike behavior). Worth a protest; worst case scenario, stewards come back to you and say they will not punish this.
Taken me a few watches, but I think - since he entered the pits he gained an advantage to where the finish line is ( the sim still counted it as a lap) while Oliver still had the last corner which took the extra 0.3 seconds to finish so he got 3rd .
In real life you can't get through pit entry that quickly, you end up in the pit entry sand trap, the right hand wall or the Murray's corner exit sand trap, because the pit entry doesn't have track grip levels and is covered in marbles, etc!
I don't see him doing anything wrong at all.. only a bunch of people jumping on the bandwagon of shaming esports drivers. He literally did nothing wrong unless there's a rule that prevents it.
totally agree with you, he did the best he could do with the situation and nailed it, maybe apart from the cut if people want to protest that. But if it's not against the rules it goes
Any driver that runs out of fuel in front of the pits will try to pull into pit lane if they can, the alternative is stopping on the track and being a hazard
Yes, maybe Iracing will do something about this in the future. I understand what he does, because its better then stopping on track, but in this case its obvious he does it to keep position.
He actually does it as the run through pit entry is shorter than the run on the track. He could have won the race if he had fuel still by doing the exact same thing and that’s what he was trying to do I think
for the people who just stumble onto this channel and dont pay too much attention to simracing, you might want to include what is wrong in ur eyes cuz i got NO FUCKING CLUE
Definitely report that. As the F1 drivers' mentality go with - "You can get away with a lot of things until they tell you to stop what you're doing". These drivers know exactly what they're doing and it's just not right. Makes them look bad and they don't care. Just like children in kindergarden to be honest... If this won't be reported, no action will be taken. If it will be reported, then there's a 50-50 chance of that being dealt with which is better than 0 chance without reporting. Also, in my opinion, iRacing needs to dish out very very harsh punishments so drivers will stop acting like little babies and get their act together. Just like in a small period of time of GT Sport - 95% of contacts gave penalties and we all saw how everyone became more mature and tried to avoid contacts at almost all costs.
Stop complaining I remember racing against you once on GT SPORT on Nurburgring ring and you ramming me off track. Watching you complain over taking what you used to dish out is a joke 😂😂😂😂
it's really really poor sportsmanship! A lot of these E-sports drivers use these dirty little tactics when things don't go their way! What happened to honest and quick drivers?
No, but only because as far as i know theres no rule saying that finishing in pit lane is forbidden. Idk what fia would do if this was in a real race to be honest
Don't report it. Not against any rules and didn't neccessarily ruin your race. He wasn't flat out of fuel yet if he did it right he could have coasted across the line just fine. If he stayed on track and wrecked you for the win then sure report him but instead he got off the track and exploited a game mechanic which anyone could do
Pretty sure in every racing class finishing in the pit is not allowed. U need to finish by crossing the line on track. Also why 9/10 times there will always be atleast 1 safetycar lap after a race was suspended
Just like in any sports people push the legal boundaries in this case the game didn’t know what to do so he won. Also smart from him to think of it that fast
There are a few tracks where it is technically quicker to enter the pit lane than to complete a lap. Silverstone - GP for example also places the S/F line towards the start of the pit lane. Whether you report this or no would be based on his conduct into the pit lane. Does he slow down appropriately to enter the pits as close to a reasonable speed as necessary, as if he were emulating an actual pit stop? If no, then I’d agree with an unsportsmanlike conduct protest. If he did, I think you’d struggle to make a case against him. Should’ve been that 3 tenths quicker up the mountain.
He did nothing wrong, I would say that’s just a 400IQ move right there. Don’t be so naïve to think he did to stop you maybe he didn’t it so he could get the best spot possible. To be fair you would’ve done the same thing and you wouldn’t ever think it to be illegal so take it like a man and get your mind back in the game.
Clever move. I would report it just to see what iRacing does, not egregious to warrant a ban, the worst they'll get is the little e-mail message. It's on the fence, so I'd let them tell me if it is or it's not, whether than stay wondering.
It could definitely happen in real life in any series that doesn't require you to drive round the whole lap and back to pits after finishing. F1 allowed you to finish a race in pit lane until only a couple of seasons ago iirc.
No its part of the race track, I would report someone who stops in the middle of a race in the middle of the track and causes an accident, just so he can go for poo, ,
It’s clever, yeah, but it feels like it’s in bad faith. Not in a personal way, obviously, but just out of sportsmanship. It isn’t fun to lose when they make a mistake that should benefit you.
I mean, he was running out of fuel on the white flag so tbh, it would've been best to pit, and finish the race rather than running out of fuel, and getting last, or a DNF at that point... So, I'd say he made a little dumb, but smart decision.
Im sorry I watched Michael Schumacher live at Silverstone in 98 do the greatest version of this in all of time, serve a stop and go in the pits after crossing the start finish line to win ha ha.. would of been out of order if he had of blocked or tried to wreck you for it….
