still got the original album n poster that came with it,purchased when i was twelve years old. this track is like a time machine for me, it takes me back straight to when iwas a kid.,the brass section in it echoes through my sole ,,its awsome.
Buster was my first hero as a kid. first single I bought with actual pocket money. First album was Ska N B which my eldest sister went halves on, when she got her first student cheque with me only being at £3 after 2 months of saving. no sweets or crisps.
Ok,I love Ska too,British Ska,the lot.I remember the Bodysnatchers,Bad manners,The Selecter,Beat,Madness,Nine below zero,The Specials.Good time to be getting into music back then.
It cracks me up did you see Keith Moon do it on some American music show it was dangerous & Pete Townsend’s hearing was permanently damaged. Always loved Bad Manners
@HughieDixon I woulda too man :) This song makes me dance UNCONTROLLABLY. Seriously, there have been times when this song coming on in my living room has made me interrupt whatever conversation i was having with whoever to commence dancing.
These bands really rely on their bass players and they lay it down. I think ska launched an era of great young bassists that went on to play English alternative.
All the instruments in Reggae are special but to the lovers and players of Reggae it is the hotness of the bass line alone that determines if it’s a hit or not. A great reggae baseline has rhythm and melody. That’s what sets Reggae bassist apart.
@@agfagaevart Which we know through the original skinheads of the sixties, through their Jamaican class mates - real skinheads are antiracists, "two tones" sayeth so - before the bloody feckin' fascists bastards came in and bollocked things up as they always do…
@@paterisyou learn about skinheads thru watching BBC documentaries, you don't live being a skin day in and day out and you certainly don't know any old school skins if you think they were antiracists lol, the only ones who were antiracists were the reds just cause we get along with Jamaicans and back then they thought they were cool doesnt come out to being antiracists.

I think it suits him, after all, he does come from Hackney and he's obviously used to being around black people. I have family around east London, and when we used to visit them back in the 70's and 80's, many white people back then spoke with West Indian accents and patois. Not sure if it's like this today.

That is Def The Beat mate
Heavy horns and bass will always rock the place!
Saw them do this at the Rainbow in 79 it was a riot
I saw them in a small bar in Sacramento in the summer of 1981.
Buster: "It's bloody HOT! But where I'm from, it's bloody COLD!"
@@joelspringman7748 Do you remember the name and location of the bar? I was born in Sacramento.
They didn’t play the rainbow in 79
Lucky you. 😊
@@mauriceludmer2629 must have been somewhere else in London then. The old memory has taken a beating since then 😮

Nine below zero were rhythm n'blues (not that dreadful R n'B), not ska. Bloody brilliant though…

It cracks me up did you see Keith Moon do it on some American music show it was dangerous & Pete Townsend’s hearing was permanently damaged. Always loved Bad Manners
i dont know why , but i also had to laugh for some reason, perhaps bc the way they started to move so zigzaggy

Quite hard hitting for Bad manners very good
Electric ballroom this was.My Mrs of 38 years is in the front on camera, bleached skin girl, bless her.
Good memories of that time
36-years together.. WOW.. what an excellent achievement for a band playing a genre of music then was labelled as a 'fad'..
Brilliant!
they're hoppy !!!! I did not think there was a stage that could hold up to Arsenal. I was wrong. But, just barely

@@solarscience5815 True, though people like Steve Severin or Simon Gallup elevated bass to another level…

Doesn't matter mate, its still a great upload.
I never understood but was prob afraid to ask back in the day .... why did Buster sing with a 'black' accent?

Great band!!fatty & his bad Manners boys
British ska came out of the English youth interest in actual Jamaican ska,one emulates the other.Funny conclusion to come to.
It's an opinion - be cool.
